We ordered the steamers, fried bellies, & the lobster roll (mayo). I have to say everything met the mark and the fried clams exceeded expectations (in comparison to the cape). The prices were also great, we got everything for roughly $74! The only downside was that they don't make their own tartar sauce! Everything was super fresh and delicious. We stopped in to grab some takeout lunch on a Friday around 1215PM. We got a fish sandwich and the lazy lobster. The fish sandwich is actually a double fish sandwich which was a nice surprise. It was a good amount of fish. The lazy lobster was a lot of lobster but the lobster was a little tough. I've had better lobster in Bangor during this trip but it was a lot of lobster for a good price. I'd recommend popping in if you are nearby and want lobster! Oh the popsicles were delicious! Ok food, not too expensive, portions are small but food is fresh. They do need to keep the sitting area a lot cleaner even if it's a self serve, someone should definitely make sure the tables are clean. Service was slow, they had a line when we got there so it took almost 20 min to get our food out. We were 3 adults and 2 kids who were starving by that point. As someone who grew up on the coast of New England and has eaten fresh seafood my entire life, I was genuinely excited to stop here. The "fresh fish market" branding set high expectations. Unfortunately, what arrived was one of the most disappointing seafood meals I've had in recent memory. I ordered the fried scallops and the New England clam chowder. The scallops were immediately suspect -- soft, wet, and mushy with none of the firm, sweet, clean flavor that fresh scallops are known for. The texture and taste were consistent with frozen scallops that had been improperly thawed. The batter was soggy rather than crisp, and there was no seasoning whatsoever -- not even salt. I tried four before I stopped. The chowder was equally disappointing. It bore little resemblance to a proper New England clam chowder -- thin, oily, and heavily salted, with barely any cream base and no depth of flavor. I had two bites. I want to be fair: I was staying directly across the street and ate the food immediately, so neither dish had a chance to deteriorate in transit or sitting out. What I tasted is what was served. For a restaurant marketing itself as a fresh seafood destination in Maine, this fell far short of the standard -- and frankly, far short of what the region is capable of. I'd encourage the owners to revisit both their sourcing and their kitchen fundamentals. read more

My husband picked this place to visit. I think he liked the name...lol. We ordered 2 servings of clam Chowder and a lobster roll to share. I enjoyed my clam chowder although it was more of a soup. The taste was there, it just wasn't thick. My husband was digging around in his to get a spoon of anything except for the broth. This was our first lobster roll so we have nothing to compare it to. My husband was expecting a bigger roll than a hot dog bun. I enjoyed the toasted bun and the mild flavor of the lobster and dressing. We stopped here for lunch as a party of 5! The service was quick and everyone was pleasant. We were able to get a seat under the overhang so we didn't have to cook in the bright sun! As far as I can tell this place is a local landmark. We always seem to just miss the end of their hot food restaurant service as the workers go back to school. That said, we have never been disappointed by their all year round market: the lobster roll we had this year was absolutely massive and the traditional angled toast bun was perfectly done. Lobster rolls are never cheap but this one was good value for money. The lobster salad filling was low key minimal mayo so it didn't overpower the lobster meat, which IS what you are paying for. We sat at a picnic table outside and they brought it out to us. I'm no expert on lobster rolls but it compares favorably with what I had a few days earlier in Nova Scotia. If you have the urge for a lobster roll and are nearby, this is worth the stop. read more

We drove all the way from Texas to Maine. The first thing we wanted was Lobster. Not a roll or a stew or a bisque. Just a cooked lobster. I found this place by chance. It was amazingly priced I think for everything I spent like $75. The staff was friendly, it is outside so it was nice to get to see the environment of Maine, listen to the birds, hear the water crash and roll. The lobster tasted delicious, I don't like coleslaw so I got potato salad instead. The fries were really good and nothing was too greasy. In the Covid area this is a good option because dining is only outside on some picnic tables. It is not white tablecloth dining, but the food is good.
