This place is amazing, i had a great experience there and the people there are amazing and very friendly. I had my suv diagnosed at firestone and when i took it here the head mechanic said what they told you doesn't sound right, and he was right!!! Firestone had miss diagnosed my vehicle and he found what was really wrong and gave me a free vehicle inspection and found other issues that I was not aware of, now my suv drives amazing and better than ever before and all backed by a 2 year warranty. Stay FAR away from this place. They replaced all 4 calipers with aftermarket calipers i bought elsewhere. Less than a month later, I was driving on HWY 101 near Gilroy when I applied the brakes only to find the pedal going all the way to the floor. NO BRAKES!! I managed to coast to a stop and checked under my truck to find the driver's rear caliper hanging by the brake line, both brake pads were gone, and the rear passenger caliper was missing a bolt. I had my truck towed to a shop in Gilroy who told me the front caliper bolts were loose as well, and no locktight was used during initial install. They told me it was obvious nothing was torqued to specs. Half ass work almost killed me. Never going back here and will not recommend this place to anyone. If you value your life, have someone else work on your car. read more

I would not recommend- I've taken my car here several times and feel that they over book and charge excessively. There are only two garages in this immediate area so I've tried to give so leeway. I recently had to rent a car for two days because it took so long for the work to be completed a few weeks ago. This week I made an appointment 2 days in advance when I brought my car in at 830am there were already two cars being worked on. The staff was on the phone and didn't acknowledge me- she eventually took my keys while she was on the phone and told me it would take 4 hours to get the work.done. An hour later my car was still parked and not remotely being worked on meanwhile several other cars have arrived for service. I spoke to the staff member about my car and she simply said these two cars came here "early" and did not provide any explanation only to say that one of the cars didn't have parts so that's why my car was not being worked on. I told her that I would like my keys back and that I was going to a different repair shop. She did not did not offer any apology she returned my keys without one word which is extremely unprofessional and I left. I will never return here. I would not recommend it unless you have unlimited amount of time and money to waste. read more

Back when the owner was present this place got 5 stars all day, now that the owner seems to be retired and lets employees run things, the service is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW. For example, you can only get smogs if the smog guy is in which most days isn't until noon and then you're waiting for at least an hour. My last one was 1 hour 45 minutes. Back when the owner was present, I would go at 8 am when they opened and be out the door before 8:30 because the owner would do the smog himself. Happy retirement to the owner, he better cut his ties while the business is still profitable, with the current service people will start going elsewhere. read more

I began using this business over 10 years ago as my main location for Smog on my 07 F150. Always quick and easy on the wallet. 2 years ago my F150 went down and I found a deal on a 2013 Audi A8. Rather than doing the brakes myself (I had already bought all the parts) I brought it to these guys, and $250.00 later I was out the door and happy... then I brought the A8 in for an oil change, took literally all day long, and when I showed up to get it I could see oil leaking while it was in the air on the lift. Manager called over his mechanic who proceeded to strip the oil pan screw, and when he couldn't stop the leaking he diagnosed it as a oil cooler leak that would cost $1,400.00 to repair. Irritated I left and took it to Audi in Monterey who replaced the screw and changed the oil for less than $200.00... WOW. Fast forward to Yesterday when I thought to give them a chance again, and called to ask for a quote to replace the brake pads on the FRONT ONLY, mind you the last job for $250.00 was replacing all 4 rotors and pads (again, I had purchased and brought in the parts myself), however this time I was quoted $850.00, just for the front pads to be replaced. JUST THE PADS... Audi will do it for $310.00... Feels like Green Phoenix clearly had an agenda to either gouge me as hard as they could, or just plain push me away, but they have succeeded... forever. If i could give them a negative star I would, but since I cant I will simply suggest you go elsewhere and save yourself the frustration that I REPEATEDLY went through. read more

This " business " is the most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with in the auto shop industry. Their communication skills are non existent . They rush your vehicle in and out and if you DARE make a COMPLAINT, they treat you like the enemy . The owner ( some Indian dude ) and their receptionist ( Maria Hernandez ) are both equally nasty and despicable individuals . hence why your complaints fall on deaf ears. I had to call the police in order to get them to fix their mistakes. They charged me $3000 and then tried to get my car tossed from the shop . Sick and greedy people . By the way ... I am currently in the process of suing them . Maria likes to dish it out but can't take the heat. Don't believe me ? Try it . Her nasty attitude comes out as soon as you call her out on her BS lies . .. and the owner is a dirty greedy old man who yells at his mechanics and tries to get them to rush their work . They do not honor a paid-for failed smog test when you get things fixed and will charge you for the retest! Just stating their policy to the public that is not told when you come in for smog. Honestly I am very conflicted about this review because I do believe the people at Green Phoenix are nice, sadly nice only goes so far. One of the biggest issues here which you can corroborate reading other reviews is that they have zero time management skills. Each time I set an appointment I got there and the person who was supposed to work on my car was either late or there was some kind of problem. The three issues that made me decide to never go back were: First time, I set an appointment for an oil change, drop my car, they say it will be ready in an hour, I say cool, I am going to be back later on because I am going out with a friend and they say perfect, the car WILL be ready by the time you are back. My friend dropped me there more than three hours later and no, my car was not ready, in matter a fact they hadn't even started yet. So I have bags with me and I have to wait for them to work on my car even though I had confirmation that it was going to be ready. Second time, needed something done, this time they were late but not that late. We are in the middle of a pandemic and the mechanic is handling my car with no mask, no gloves, people behind the counter and owner with the nose outside of the mask, at that point I am seriously considering that it's time to find a new shop, I mean, I can see the mechanic behind the wheel of my car leaving his germs in it. Third time, I need to have something done fast, so I make time, call for an appointment, take time off that day and show up on time, I am the first appointment of the day and what do you know? Owner has some issues and he wont be in, I have to reschedule after moving everything around that morning, oh and he is the only one who can do that work at the shop. At that point I was done, I could understand their sloppiness because they always looked busy, they leave the cars dirty, don't even remove the plastic mats they use to step inside, etc. But to me just play with people's time is plain disrespectful, in matter a fact like someone else pointed, the owner indeed tried to run for mayor of Salinas. My good sir, you can't run a shop correctly and you had the gall of trying to run the city? How dare you. Like I said, they are good people and the work they do is nice, but since when you go there you have to play time roulette and hope that the right person is in and that they actually do what they say in the time they promise, that to me gets old real fast and I never went back and I would suggest you do the same. read more

BEWARE GO ELSEWHERE!!! OVER PRICED! I went in to fix spark plugs and my car later came back home with a new DENTS and SCRATCHES. They admitted to doing it. Later they said they would send it over to an auto body shop to get it fixed. After a week went by they changed their mind. Now I'm going to have to get insurance involved. My car was making a weird sound after driving in the rain and I didn't want to drive it without having it looked at. These guys were one of the few mechanics open on Saturday, which was the deciding factor, but I had been wanting to try them since my old mechanic retired. The experience was pretty darn positive. Everybody is very nice and communicate well and often. They were pretty busy but the Service Writer not only managed to fit me in but kept me posted on how long my wait would be. When the technician pulled my car in we all saw the dust shield flopping down from the engine compartment, so the diagnosis was a no-brainer but they also did a complimentary brake check and inspected my suspension. When I checked the quote for the suspension work against the dealership these guys came in 45% below the dealer's quote! I only gave 4 stars because thiswas my first brief experience with them. After I get the suspension done I will post a follow up, but I hope I have found a new mechanic in Salinas. read more

My 2004 Honda Accord needed help, but not having a second car so I let it go too, too long. My brakes were "pulsing" giving the front end a little shimmy on hard braking, but I let it go on even though Green Phoenix diagnosed it for me when they smogged my car. Well the shimmy became a shake and concerned for safety I took it back in to Green Phoenix, but they showed that the shimmy damaged the front struts. I bought the front strut/spring assembly from 1A Auto on the internet and procrastinated further. When I saw the Green Phoenix owner at church I asked if my buying parts off the internet was a problem, "No, no, that's fine; come on in." Then Monday I went in to get an appointment, explaining that I needed the car for a trip to Sacramento on Saturday. I talked to Thomas and he penciled in an appointment for Wednesday, but when I asked more questions about the symptoms my car was showing and how long it would take because I couldn't leave Mom alone too long, he asked Luke to help. Luke said he can have Thomas drive me home now and come get me when it's done. I want the owner, Mr. Amit Pandya, to know how pleased I am with the help of Thomas and Luke and I want South Salinas to know how happy I am to get my car fixed so conveniently and that my car now runs, and stops, great! read more

MY check engine light came on and i took it to the local dealer who told me my smog system was the problem. this is the same dealer who just charged me almost $3000,00 to repair a whole bunch of things and left the smog hoses unattached ,causing the check engine light to come on. Amit found the problem and several others that the dealer said he repaired but did not. Amit was great and his bill was very reasonable and he took photos of the problems and gave them to me to take to the dealer. I've passed by this place a million times, never giving a second thought to what it was. I needed a smog certificate for my car registration and looked up different Smog Center locations near me. This location came up and it grabbed my attention being that it was such a short distance away. I called first wondering if I need to schedule an appointment (it was Saturday morning about 10am) and I was greeted by a friendly voice on the other end. He answered all my questions quoted me some prices and told me I could just come on in. Before we hung up (to my surprise) he asked me my name (no one does that anymore over the phone!) and told me his name was Leo. I confirmed I'd take my car over shortly. I arrive, he sees the car, remembers my name and I give him the keys so he can get all the info needed. I ended up getting an oil change service along with the smog check and I remembered I had a tail light that needed replacing. The car was ready in about an hour and a half, (I hung out at the Starbucks near by, they really don't have a waiting area here) My total with new air and cabin filters came out to about $145 which I was happy with. They also offer free brake inspection at anytime. At no point did I feel pressured, everyone was friendly and I will be back to get some other repairs done in the future. Last week went in to smog my car, and it failed, ok i understand. Went back again and they did a quick code check which told them a sensor was failing. Ok, i scheduled a time and day, i brought my car in the time and day. Which was 8 am..... i went back at 1pm found my car in another complete parking lot. When i asked the mechanic whats up, he said he was to busy, but would get it done today. My comment was, he was the guy who scheduled me to be there that day at 8am. He assured me that he would have it done. At 5pm i came back and nothing had been done.
