Hot food menu
Will S.

This place is tucked away in a strip mall at 84th and F streets. I'd read other yelper reviews and wanted to try some of their made-to-order food. So I go in and the store is actually pretty tiny, but stocked with all kinds of Middle Eastern goods. A lot of canned and jarred food with quite a bit of frozen/refrigerated offerings thrown in for good measure. I didn't see a hot case or a kitchen, so I had to ask the man working there (I assume he's the owner) if they had hot food. He said yes and pointed to a laminated menu taped to the front counter. Now we're in business! I ordered a shourma beef ($3.50) and a falafel ($3) and the man disappeared in the back for about 5 minutes. So I browsed a bit, grabbed a couple cans of Vimto and a candy bar -- this needs to be a complete meal, right? Once he returned to ring me up, he mentioned to check out his Facebook page for weekly updates on their stock, which changes fairly often from what I gathered. Also, if you don't want to wait on your food order, he suggested calling ahead. Cool fava beans. So when I got home and dived into my food I was happy to find out that he makes a mean shourma beef. It's subtly spiced and tasty processed beef, some veggies and sauce wrapped in homemade flat bread. The falafel was along the same lines, just swap the beef for -- you guessed it -- falafel balls. Humble and delicious -- the best kind of food out there, in my opinion. I'll definitely back soon. And, like Sarah G said in her review, I'm dying to try their pizza!

I decided to go here after reading Will, Sarah and Matt's reviews of this place, not knowing that it has been here for 4 years, and I was not disappointed. I was in here for a few minutes before a gentleman appeared from the back. At first pretty introverted, Bassim soon warmed up to telling me about his store. Originally from Jordan, he spent a few years in Saudi Arabia, before trying to emigrate out of the Middle East. 20 years ago the US accepted him in Florida, and after 6 months gave him a brochure of a land full of lambs, goats and grasslands, and soon came to Omaha. He has loved it ever since, and bought this store from a friend 4 years ago after working at various places throughout town. I ordered a Beef Shourma sandwich and a Spinach and Cheese pie, both of which were excellent, seasoned like I would expect, cooked in the back of the store. I will make a note to try out their pizza next time!

Menu as of 12/1/2012. Everything I have had so far is delicious.

The term "hidden gem" gets used a alot but it truly applies here. This is a small grocery store tucked in a strip mall but they are turning out some awesome food.

As of 2/24/17 the menu. All sandwiches and pies are $4.99.

Very friendly. Great food. Just walk to the back and ask what's good and Bassim will make something for you. You can't go wrong!

This was something to come for without a doubt. The dawn phenomenon was flavor packed and sauced to the T for a breakfast sandwich. Fresh tomato, lots of ham, bacon, and just the perfect amount of butter. This is a fairly small spot in Ralston with free parking in the front and surrounding area. It's a cute country style breakfast joint with a "Peace, Love, Pancakes" slogan that had me smiling and wanting to come back to try the jalapeño popper French toast!

The classic bacon, eggs, and a gluten free biscuit which I hear was DELISH! Eggs over medium done to perfection, great tasting bacon. Maybe you knew, but I learned that their gravy is also gluten free and done by Gravy Train - Scratch Biscuits and Gravy! Their Griddled French Toast is also kept pretty simple, with a small dusting of powdered sugar, some strawberries and whip. Went well with their traditional syrup! Parking is a blast but I promise their food makes up for the limited spacing. Their cinnamon rolls and other sweet treats right when you walk in, looked AMAZING. Definitely going to have to grab a few to-go next time.

This family restaurant brings something different to the neighborhood. It's worthy of a visit,…read moreclean and quaint inside. Seems comfy with coffee shop/meetups vibe, with a few small tables to enjoy a hand made empanada. It appears to be a family ran business with pleasant service, quiet environment and a DIY water dispenser. The food seemed authentic, flavor profiles I'm not familiar with (green beans on a sandwich)?! I was surprised how well it worked. Although a little juicy, the sandwich hit the spot with homemade bread, a little crispy outside and the perfect crunch of Serrano peppers inside. The shredded beef empanada was jam packed with meat! I didn't see the cheese until the last few bites, but it was enjoyable with the added pico de gallo for flavor. The filling to pastry ratio is nonsensical--how the lightly crisp outer shell holds in that much meat... Perfection. Very worthwhile stop, if you're in the area. You can tell there is love in this place, their food is all the evidence you need. EDITED TO ADD: I brought home two empanadas (chicken/mushroom and shredded beef) for the hubs. 30 seconds in the microwave and these were a hit for him! A very reasonable price for a meal loaded with good meat.

I had the Sweet Thai Chili Chicken Sandwhich, which has two big fried tenders coated in a sweet Thai chili sauce that wasn't too spicy paired with a slaw that nicely complimented the sweetness from the sauce. The fries of fluffy and crispy, perfectly seasoned with fresh pepper and course salt. The bang bang sauce is a must to dip the fries in but the kickin' bacon ranch sauce that came alongside the dipping tots appetizer takes the crown. Tiny cubed potatoes merged into a log, fried to perfection on the outside.... I need that every time I go. You order at the front and they give you a buzzer that will alert you when you can pick it up from the counter. The lady at the front was happy to give us a few recommendations for our first visit and didn't miss. There's only a couple seats inside, but that's no problem when there's so many tables outside and next door at Twisted Vine where you can get a nice cold drink with your meal. I ordered the bang bang chicken sandwich with their salt and pepper fries. The sandwich comes with so much chicken that I had to take a piece out to take a bit out of it! The tenders were so juicy and crispy even with the amazing bang bang sauce all over it. I haven't had salt and pepper fries in a while, but these were fantastic with their ranch dipping sauce. The staff was so friendly and quick to get our food out. They hand you little pagers to let you know when your order is done so you can hang out and not crowd the inside area. This is a lovely scratch kitchen and I can't wait to come back!

The pancakes were actually my favorite part of the meal. They were fluffy and well done. I asked for extra butter because that's who I am. I also had the steak and eggs with breakfast potatoes the steak was pretty good eggs were eggs and the breakfast potatoes were kind of your standard hashbrowns. A couple people in our group had the scramble and really enjoyed it. They got the junior size, which would've been plenty for most adults. I can't even imagine what the larger sizes look like. My partner had an omelette with some fresh fruit. The fruit was actually pretty fresh and the omelette was yummy. The homemade blueberry muffin was her favorite part. The coffee was fresh and plenty; our table also got one of the big cinnamon rolls, which seems to be a staple at this restaurant to share and well it didn't last very long. This is a perfect family friendly restaurant. There's something on that menu for everybody and even despite the wait, it would still be a great place to go back with any size group. Wheelchair accessibility: the parking situation for this restaurant is kind of weird, especially for this type of restaurant which has a traditionally older clientele there were very few accessible spots. In fact, parking was hard to come by at all, which I guess speaks to the popularity of the spot. But we had at least two cars that needed accessible parking, and neither of us could find it. The restaurant itself is pretty good. There's a variety of seating options with plenty that would accommodate a wheelchair. The bathroom door was OK and there was a stall that worked great with all the usual amenities involved
