Over the years, I've gotten to know Matt and have seen firsthand how he operates his company. His reputation for honesty, integrity, and craftsmanship is well deserved. He builds strong relationships with his trade partners, treats his employees with genuine respect, and holds everyone to a high professional standard. In an industry where cutting corners is all too common, Matt does the opposite -- he sets the bar. His jobs are well-managed, communication is clear, and the end results speak for themselves. If you're in the Portland or Lake Oswego area and want a remodeling contractor who combines skill, transparency, and great leadership, I'd highly recommend Ziebart Construction.

The windows in the wrong place the wrong pitch on the roof.. we had constant problems with these people that were never easily resolved. Every project they did for this had a problem. Communication was extremely difficult.. the person who comes out and promises you they will do a good job is then the person who helps you with nothing. I have built two significant houses and remodeled many houses and this is the worst company I have ever dealt with on every level they should not be in business. The service is terrible. The quality is terrible. There is no value for the money.. small outdoor decks we had built took forever to finish. The door we had put in our bedroom was put in the wrong way and still doesn't work correctly.. the door to our garden house has a huge gap in the middle of it. Outstanding incompetence.

We contracted with Weitzer for a kitchen remodel, and everything we learned to look out for when…read moredoing our due diligence ended up being done right. Being located in SE Portland, they have experience in dealing with houses that are over 100 years old (as is ours), and Weitzer's in-house cabinet shop means that they can custom build a solution for each project. From the first day, through the finishing touches, we had a lead carpenter who was here doing most of the tasks himself or with other Weitzer employees when needed, coordinating with and directing subcontractors, and communicating with the project manager who planned the remodel and created the schedule. Communication with my wife and I, and everyone else involved in the project was first rate, and a big factor in a successful, timely remodel. After they took down the plaster on the walls and ceiling and pulled up the floor, the lead carpenter consulted with other experienced Weitzer project people to make sure everyone was in agreement on planning for what to do with the hundred year old framing that they found inside. Our peace of mind at having new wiring, plumbing, and beams, studs and joists to keep everything correctly correctly supported is a, emotionally, a huge component of this job. Based on conversations with their own employees and with subcontractors, Weitzer is a good place to work, and pays their subcontractors promptly - which is apparently not always the case in the construction world. The payoff for the customer is that the employees all seem to enjoy working together for the greater good, and skilled subcontractors are willing to be flexible with the inevitable scheduling hiccups to show up when needed and keep things moving along. Since most tasks cannot be started until a previous step is complete, Weitzer's scheduling is able to be realistic, and can be trusted. There are far more moving parts to this kind of project than I could have ever predicted myself - adjusting floor joists, rerouting wiring to fit a modern lighting plan, using the right kinds of insulation for thermal or acoustic purposes, choosing paint that will stand up to the rigors of kitchen cabinet use, laser measurement for countertops, leveling the ceiling so that crown molding in different parts of the room does not interfere with cabinet doors opening and closing, matching window and door trim to other parts of the house - Weitzer's team coped with it all, and were not fazed by any of the things that could not be known until the old walls and ceiling came down. This kind of job is not cheap - but Weitzer's bid was right in line with other design-build firms that we contacted, and in watching the project as it went along, I developed an appreciation for all the components of the budget, and how they added up to the total cost, and contributed to a successful project.

It wasn't just that his price was fair, they had re-sided a co-worker's home ~11 years prior and their name was listed in his stack of references. I spoke to my co-worker and they STILL had good things to say about Gino and Lifetime. In addition, the company is Hardieplank Elite Preferred installer, meaning they were up to date on any installation best practices and that was important to me. Unlike all of the other bids, there was no pressure. Gino was easy to work with, extremely responsive, meticulous attention to detail. No overselling or "the sky is falling" behavior. No eye rolling or treating me like I was a PIB at the end when some little painting details needed extra attention. Was very respectful of me as a woman. No weirdness or disconnect from his team. Everyone was on the same page. And his team are direct employees of Lifetime ... for many multiple of years. This latter point spoke volumes to me. His employees were superlative workers who were VERY careful about picking up debris, daily check-ins, keeping an eye out for my dog's safety, etc. They were on time, in budget and did great work with everyone being super professional. I will definitely hire Gino in the future for other projects. It was such a relief to have real people with a true business ethic not just working on, but taking care of my home. Thank you Gino!

After 3 different bids, Lifetime was right in the middle but at the end they gave us a top dollar experience.

We felt this could greatly improve our home, and a designer was needed to get the best return on the work. Kaitlyn was essential to our process. Preparation is Key. We used photos and ideas from magazines, websites and other sources to show your designer. We started by identifying our "needs" and "wants". Then we went to determine what's most important to you to help manage costs. The team walked through each item on our list to understand function and cost. We went shopping to look at fixture options. Having a general idea of the fixtures you like (tubs, sinks, etc.) is helpful, as their dimensions affect the design. It's best establish a budget range so the designer can make recommendation. Kaitlyn helped us through the process, and we went over budget so my tips may help. She offered alternatives however we like what we like. The best part of the process was the communication. The portal used to send updates worked great. Kaitlyn allowed us to express our ideas, preferences, and concerns clearly and honestly. She took all of that and worked out a layout that was far beyond our dreams. She kept us actively involved in the design process and provide timely feedback. All the right steps were taken during the design process. TheRemodelGroup maintained open communication with us and helped us create a beautiful and functional bathroom design that hopefully will meet our needs and enhance our home.

THE Remodel Group will be our first and only call for all future work we have done on our house…read more They were clear about what they could do and what things would cost for our bathroom remodel. They followed through and met all the goals we mutually set. What really impressed me was how they accommodated some special needs we had. For medical reasons, I have to be able to take a bath approximately every 72 hours, though 48 is better. They made sure to set things up so that I never had to go more than three days without tub access. We did have a problem with one supplier, Kohler. They sent two subtly different colored shower wall panels. Though we looked at them outside before installation, because we hadn't checked them side by side once indoors, we didn't realize the mistake after installation took place. Kohler not only sent the wrong colored panels, they continued to shoot past every single delivery date they gave us for months. We were supposed to get the panels at the end of November. They didn't arrive until March and it upped the cost of the project because THE Remodel Group had to demo out what was first installed and then install the proper product. Because I approved what we saw before it was installed, they could have told me "Not our problem, you need to pay for it," but they didn't. They cut their rate for the demo and reinstall to labor only. Even months after the project was done, THE Remodel Group continued to advocate on our behalf for Kohler to reimburse us for that extra cost and yesterday, Steve delivered the check in person. While the project did have delays, it was out of THE Remodel Group's hands. Every single person I've ever talked with about having a contractor work on the house has had horror stories about their contractors. While we did have a problem with the project, THE Remodel Group was absolutely perfect. We recommend them to anyone and everyone. They will be our first and only call when we want to remodel our other bathroom and kitchen in the future.

Throughout the design process, Mosaik's team listened to our ideas, our pain points, and desires and steered us to a design that fit within our existing footprint AND increased functionality and circulation ten-fold. Our whole -house renovation included: finishing the basement with two bedrooms, a lounge, a bathroom and new utility room; a complete remodel of the main floor including creating a connection between the new laundry (brought up from the basement) and our dream kitchen. We updated all our mechanicals for the future with a new heat pump, heat-pump water heater, upgraded electrical panel and a car charger, added a radon mitigation system and treated ourselves to a central vacuum system. There were a lot of moving parts on this project and Mosaik's coordination and understanding of remodeling brought the project in on time and without any cost surprises. Mosaik has cultivated strong relationships with all the trades and material suppliers which is why they are able to complete projects on time and with the highest level of craftmanship. All the subcontractors showed up on time and performed their work with the utmost integrity and skill. Having worked in the construction industry for 20 years, I have rarely worked with anyone who matches Mosaik's integrity, communication quality and attention to detail.
