After a great day on the water what more could you ask for than a good beer and a burger wrapped in paper. Nothing fancy but you have great people and a wonderful out door spot to enjoy friends. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The burger and fries were what we needed and we washed it all down with a cold beer.

I had the fortune of checking out the 'new' Green Gables when I was back to Btown for a visit. The burgers are still as good as the old restaurant and they've done a great job making a new restaurant that should carry them well in to the future for the Lake Bloomington community. They now have a beer garden option as well as the nice indoor seating. The group I was with all enjoyed their cheeseburgers and we also enjoyed some of the cheese balls. Yum!

Stopped by to see the new building. So much space! Bright! Looking around and there are games (a pool table and arcade). We sat on the patio (big open space). Picnic tables with fans to help cool off. I liked the two large television screens. Dogs are allowed on the patio I believe. Food was alright. Beer was cold. Local options are a plus.

We went back today (summer time and right before the evening lake rush). Food was delicious and came out quickly. They now have crayons and coloring sheets for kids which is great. Our waitress was nice but we were kind of forgotten a few times. In her defense it did look like they had her sections scattered all over the place so not easy to streamline. We will still keep coming back though!

Simply, Green Gables makes the best cheeseburger I've ever had. Hands down. Consistently. They aren't fancy. They're just made really, really well. Smashed patty style. I'm not from the area but insist on visiting every time I pass through. The burger is perfect - every time! Keep it up. Green Gables is the standard I use to judge all other burgers by.

The best cheese balls!

Best burgers in central Illinois. Shout out to awesome servers Renee and Sam, cooking and serving those burgers and keeping my beer full.

We were never acknowledged when we came in and sat there for a good 20 minutes. We just left and won't be back.

They don't have a large selection of more exotic things like dairy-free loafs of bread or frozen mock meats suitable for a vegan, but they do have some Mornigstar Farms items. I would suggest those for vegetarians if it were not for my recent discoveries about GMOs... While it sometimes feels like I am, I am assuming that I am not the only vegan or vegetarian visiting towns such as Monticello who is wondering where to go to get some eats. Anyhow, there is enough here that you can certainly make a meal no matter what your dietary needs. There just isn't much in the way of "quick" foods available here that I could eat if I just wanted to pop something into my friend's microwave. I am thinking that we did find some interesting items that I had not seen elsewhere, but it really escapes me what they were now. (I guess that means I will have to go back!) We were often visiting a friend in the area so we have shopped here when we did not feel like making the trek to Kroger or Walmart. I DO prefer to shop at small, locally-owned stores, but sometimes the hours didn't work for us or there were other things we needed at the bigger places. Everyone really should support this store though since it is such a luxury these days to have a grocery in a small town. It is for that reason that I am giving a four instead of a three because I am happy that it even exists. It was a huge selling point for me when we were considering moving to Monticello. All we have where we are now is a gas station and believe me I am grateful for that much! A grocery store would be heaven!

I can honestly say before moving to Central Illinois, I could count on my 2 hands how many times I have visited this store. I typically prefer target with the set mark down schedule, but Meijer if you come here often is more than a grocery store. You can walk away with some crazy deals on everything from furniture to electronics. At this location I have purchased multiple red tag clearance items including 2 dyson vacuum cleaners at more than 50% off, kids toys at 90% off, electronic headsets for my xbox as low as 6 dollars each, and much more. My receipt shows my addiction to Meijer as my to date savings is in the 3000 range now. When people ask me what is the secret, there is none, you just have to come by a few times a week. Is it worth it, that is up to you to decide. Pros: never busy at lunch time when I am in town, large parking lot, cheap gas Cons: You have to come frequently to hit the jackpot as the markdowns are sporadic and could happen whenever Hidden deals: Sign up for mperks which has coupons you can clip before you come in. These include coupons for BOGO, money off gas, etc. These deals coupled with extra clearance will put you over the top. Also the pharmacy provides free lipitor, certain antibiotics, and pre-natal vitamins
