After a great day on the water what more could you ask for than a good beer and a burger wrapped in paper. Nothing fancy but you have great people and a wonderful out door spot to enjoy friends. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The burger and fries were what we needed and we washed it all down with a cold beer.

I had the fortune of checking out the 'new' Green Gables when I was back to Btown for a visit. The burgers are still as good as the old restaurant and they've done a great job making a new restaurant that should carry them well in to the future for the Lake Bloomington community. They now have a beer garden option as well as the nice indoor seating. The group I was with all enjoyed their cheeseburgers and we also enjoyed some of the cheese balls. Yum!

We went back today (summer time and right before the evening lake rush). Food was delicious and came out quickly. They now have crayons and coloring sheets for kids which is great. Our waitress was nice but we were kind of forgotten a few times. In her defense it did look like they had her sections scattered all over the place so not easy to streamline. We will still keep coming back though!

Stopped by to see the new building. So much space! Bright! Looking around and there are games (a pool table and arcade). We sat on the patio (big open space). Picnic tables with fans to help cool off. I liked the two large television screens. Dogs are allowed on the patio I believe. Food was alright. Beer was cold. Local options are a plus.

Simply, Green Gables makes the best cheeseburger I've ever had. Hands down. Consistently. They aren't fancy. They're just made really, really well. Smashed patty style. I'm not from the area but insist on visiting every time I pass through. The burger is perfect - every time! Keep it up. Green Gables is the standard I use to judge all other burgers by.

    The best cheese balls!

Have been coming to Gables since I was a kid. Love this place, and the cheese balls are the best! If you like a good burger this is the place to go!

It was fine, though the cocktail sauce could have used a little more horseradish. The basket of warm bread and whipped butter was great. And The salads were excellent (we went for a standard greens salad and a Caesar salad). For the main dish, we each ordered a bacon wrapped filet, medium rare, with Brussels sprouts. The filets were prepared as directed, but seemed dry, tough and flavorless. Disappointed. But worse was the Brussels sprouts (one of our favorites). The sprouts were hard, woefully undercooked and crunchy. Not in a good way. The flavor was lost in the rough texture. Very disappointed. The staff seemed a little flustered too. Brought a side a sautéed onions when we'd ordered mushrooms. Too bad, as we had enjoyed our pasta meals before and had expected a steakhouse to perform better.

Last night I took my college-aged kids and wife here for my birthday. It was the 4th time I've been and was by far the worst experience. We started w oysters and they were great--both kinds. My kids and I ordered iced teas and got glasses full of ice w a little bit of really watery iced tea. Next were the fries--pretty good but the "aioli" was just mayo w a dash of lemon -- diff than last time. The carrots were also pretty good, but the flavors didn't all come together. We asked for a refill on iced tea and were told "the bar just 86'd iced tea for the night". ??The restaurant seemed discombobulated. The lamb ribs were cooked really well but didn't have much flavor. Our waiter never came by 1x to ask about or food, and when clearing plates never wiped up spilled food from the table. Had high hopes for the main entrees (lemon pasta and halibut w beurre blanc). All of our entrees came to the table lukewarm. The lemon pasta was oily and a little clumpy and didn't taste great. The halibut was overcooked and the beurre blanc had little to no taste. Super disappointing. If this was the first time I had been there I wouldn't go back.

Our waitress (didn't catch her name) a young, short, blonde hair girl. She seemed as if she didn't want to give us proper service due to the fact we came in about an hour before close. She seemed very out of it and didn't look like she was all there. We were concerned that she may have been under the influence of something.. it took her forever to get us our drinks and there was two other tables besides us. After we received our food, she didn't even bother to come check on us once, until we got the check. As we were leaving we happened to pass by the back of the building and we saw our waitress outside who appeared to be smoking something. When she saw us passing by she hid whatever it was, and immediately walked back inside. We were more concerned at how young she looked.
