Green Attic was hired to seal and insulate the attic. The quality of the work was as expected. The price was fair and again, as expected. The communication of start time, overall project timing, and exact what would be done was lacking. It was a long process that took longer than expected. At the end of the day I was asked to sign off on the work and asked to rate the workers who were standing in front of me pretty much expecting the highest rating. Likewise a call from the project manager over speaker phone asked if I was satisfied. A true survey of satisfaction has to be answered either anonymously or in private. Later on after the crew left I found that one of the workers put their foot through the ceiling but it was in the closet so not noticed until later. The two bathroom fans had foam that expanded through the fans. This situation created a need for another day of commitment to stay home with workers while they repaired the damage. As with the first time the crew was late arriving with no communication. Nevertheless the bottom line is my attic is sealed and insulated. The process was frustrating but at least it is done and done well. read more

Jaime and Alvaro came by to insulate our attic and did a great job! Very swift and hard working guys, kudos to them, and I hope that the company pays them well for their hard & good work. I'm taking a star off because my husband wasn't happy with the great discrepancy in the estimate of the guy who did that, it was off by about $6,000-$7,000 because he missed the mold that was there and didn't ask about vents to take that into consideration. read more

I contacted Green Attic for a quote on 10/20. Unlike the competitors, they were able to give a quote based on my provided dimensions, sight unseen. My project was garage attic insulation, so I can run my heat source in my finished garage without having to worry about creating a condensation environment, which could lead to roof rotting. The fact that they were willing to work with me on the quote over the phone was super refreshing. In fact, one of the competitors I called wanted to charge me $99 just to get an estimate! Of course, there was a disclaimer that the quote was subject to change based on final inspection, but nothing changed. To my surprise, after I accepted the quote electronically later that evening, James contacted me the very next morning (10/21) informing me he had a cancellation and had a crew at the ready if I was interested in having it done right away. I expressed some hesitancy because my garage was currently a mess as I have a project going on with my Nova. James assured me that they would be more than willing to clear a path and take good care to make sure my car was fully covered and protected. Not only did they keep their word, but James even texted me photos to put my mind at ease (which I've shared here). I now have proper baffling for venting and 18" of loose fill insulation to get me to a value of R-60. Their guys were in and out in about 4 hours and there was literally not a trace of their being there. James came by the next morning to collect payment. Simply put, this transaction could not have been any easier than it was. In a world of it being increasingly difficult to get contractors to show up, this was such a refreshing experience. Thanks for a job well done, Green Attic! James and crew knocked this one out of the park for me. read more

Hired in 2/25 to seal exterior rim joists in finished garage from the room above (a project discussed with estimator, Tim, when Green Attic did a project for me in 2021). In '25, same estimator, Tim, recommended against accessing through the room above and said Green Attic could now do the work through the garage ceiling and would rough patch any drywall that was removed. Quote said Green Attic would cut drywall to access ceiling, add insulation, seal the rim joist "[w]here possible," and patch drywall. Green Attic did not even try to seal the rim joist and never intended to. It later said it had "transitioned away" from using foam to seal rim joists in finished spaces and it was sorry that "the contract language was not updated to reflect our revised practices." I paid Green Attic almost $3,000 for work it no longer did and had no intention of doing. The blown in insulation has had little to no effect on the room above. Green Attic offered a refund of $400, which I rejected. read more

After an angry phone call from James regarding my review, I contacted Green Attic directly, offering for them to come out to the space again. I know how much reviews matter to small businesses, so I don't leave a negative one lightly. Patrick came out to my home yesterday and was everything you'd hope for with an in-home assessment - seemingly authentic, not salesy, and fact-driven. He validated that there was not mold where James had communicated there was mold - although there could be some if we tore off all of our insulation. He also confirmed that it didn't make sense to do any insulation work until we replaced our roof. So, while I don't have anything new to add about my first experience with Green Attic, I wanted to update and add two stars, knowing how many other people Green Attic supports, and the impact the review could have. My issues were with one individual, and it feels dirty to leave a one star review because of one employee's practices. I trust Green Attic will deal with that internally. So long as you, the consumer, does your due diligence and gets multiple quotes, I think having Patrick from Green Attic out to quote it out also, is a win/win. read more

Green Attic was great to work with. It was easy to schedule a free estimate/inspection. Patrick came out and identified issues and gave recommendations. It was easy to coordinate a date to have the work done. I appreciated the communication they gave before coming, including names of the workers. Alvaro, Romulo and Wilfrido were great. They were very respectful of my home and cleaned up all the work areas before leaving both days. Throughout the process they explained what they were doing and would often call me over so that I could see what they had done. It was convenient to get the Nicor rebate through them and the follow up inspection they did really showed the difference the insulation and weather sealing makes. Overall, it was a great experience. Even though it's only been 3 months since having the work done, I have already noticed a decrease in my gas bill when compared to last year and I definitely hear my furnace turn on a lot less. read more

This company is really amazing and I highly recommend them! From the initial sales experience with Patrick (no nonsense, honest, detailed and great communication) to the workers including Julio who took a lot of pride in his work. The entire experience was good. They are knowledgeable, hard working, and cleaned up when finished. This is the second time I used them. The first time was when I finished my basement. I've been debating if I would submit this rating, but I decided to share it with others. In Jan 2023, James came out to access my home and provide a quote for the needed insulation. By Apr 2023 I had yet to decide, so Green Attic (GA) contacted me and asked if I would mind if another expert came out to see if they could provide a better quote. I agreed, because after the first quote I had decided I would allow this company to do the work, so I wanted a better price. GA arrives with a mask on the day of my second appointment. I thought he looked a lot like James, from the first appointment. He entered and introduced himself by a name that I don't remember and said that he had a mask on because he was coming down with a virus. Again, a walkthrough was completed. During the walkthrough, this expert made comments and reexamined everything just as James had done in the first appointment. After the walk-through and before I was provided a quote, the expert said that he could do better than the quote that James gave me in January. During the entire visit, the expert spoke as though he was a different, more experienced person than James. I was given a quote that was less than my quote from January. I said I would review the quote and that I would contact GA to let them know if I was going to have the work done. The expert left my house and went to his car. Before he drove off, I went to his car to ask for a business card, so I would have his name. The expert had removed his mask by this time. It was James, the same person who assessed my home in Jan. I wanted Green Attic to complete my insulation job. However, I thought that was very deceptive of James. Therefore, I lost trust in the company. Although I have not had the insulation work done as of date, I did not call Green Attic back due to the deception. read more

I don't write reviews, but thought I needed to in this instance. Our attic had black mold and a large provider which I won't name (SP) did an extremely poor job. Called Green Attic and blown away by their work. Patrick came in and did an assessment and reviewed in detail with me. There was no high pressure sales tactics, just the facts and how they could help. I followed up with questions and he was timely and knowledgeable. Scheduled a time for the team to do the work and they did a fantastic job. Jaima, Omar and Alvaro really took pride in their work and I was impressed with the results. Over the course of two days, not only did they remove the mold and seal the attic, but got to the root cause. They sealed all the cracks in the attic, added a much needed solar vent in the roof, rerouted my bathroom exhaust, added insulation and even an amazing storage space. I would recommend them to anyone who needs any attic work, not just mold removal. read more

Update: The Extremes this Company will go to, let alone will not take responsibility for their own unprofessional actions. James Minsky "Project Manager" offered to take care of the repairs and damages if my initial 1 star review was taken down, so if you're wondering why they have less reviews like mine, well there's your answer. Even though, with or without the 1 star review, this is the type of unprofessional work you see here with green attic, as they wouldn't take responsibility for the damages even if I didn't write a review. Per mutual agreement, I would take them down once repairs were completed, they were suppose to come back to finish the job, but hadn't yet, never heard back from them, instead weeks later received a bill for $2400, James then told me to take my reviews down and go cry to someone else about the problem. Green attic now threatens to sue me, as you can see in newest letter. When Green attic came to do their job, they blindly blew insulation into the cathedral causing the ceiling to collapse. It wasn't until after the ceiling began to collapse, they started putting insulation into the ceiling the proper way (drilling holes into the ceiling WITHOUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION FROM HOME OWNER AS CONTRACT STATES MUST BE DONE) After having green attic patch up and repaint parts of the ceiling that were coming down on their part they billed me $2400. Prior to them coming in to fix the damages they created, their project manager states this would be taken care of with no money necessary as seen in other photos text messages with James. Now they are suing me for not paying them for the repairs, as the owner tries to counter with "well how old is your ceiling"... sir first of all it's your job to check if the ceiling is capable of holding load, second you can not blindly blow insulation into a cathedral ceiling, being a professional, you should know this. Now they are threatening me with "black mail" and "online defamation" read more

I live in the upstairs apartment of my building. During the summer the A/C would run 24/7 and still not get the apartment cool enough to ever turn off. My HVAC guy told me that there was nothing wrong with the A/C unit so my next thought was that it could be the attic insulation. I met with Patrick from Green Attic. After Patrick climbed into the attic, he confirmed the problems that would need to be repaired. The work was scheduled for the following week. From mold remediation to adding 15" of insulation, Patrick and his team were able to complete the extensive work in two days. Prior to work, they covered my furniture, laid down tarps, and taped plastic sheets to contain any mess. They were fast, professional, and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. I enjoyed a cooler house during the summer and now a warmer house as the temperatures have started to drop. My utility bill per ComEd and People's gas has also been 10% lower than last year. Would highly recommend! read more

We had Green Attic remove the existing blown in insulation in our traditional attic and in a cathedral ceiling, as well as build an insulted cover for our whole house fan and a walkway to the fan. The crew was very professional, polite, and informative. When they arrived they laid down tarps to protect our floors and when they left, they did an excellent job of cleaning. The estimate process is great. They provide an estimate with specifics as well as example pictures of the work they will be performing. The finish work matched the pictures. They allow you to choose what parts of the quote you will approve which is really convenient. Fortunately the pricing was great so we approved the entire project. They had excellent suggestions when needed. For example, adding a pully system to the attic fan cover so I could lift it right from the attic opening. My thermostat has sensors in several rooms in our house. I would see temperature differences between the 1st and 2nd floor of 5-6 degrees on an average day. Now, every room is the same. Our master bathroom has a cathedral ceiling and gets a lot of sun. When the outside temp is above 60, it was typical for the bathroom and bedroom to be 8-10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. And the opposite when the temps drop. With the recent temperature changes, the room temp remained exactly the same as the rest of the house. We also had silverfish. It was common to see 1 or 2 in our bathroom sinks every morning. I have not see one since they completed the job. Finally, they fixed the venting for our bathrooms. They were venting directly into the attic and they reattached the pipe to vent it outside. I know that is pretty simply but still, no extra charge, just excellent customer service. We got a few other quotes and they all had about a $100 charge to fix the vents. When the work was done, the foreman Edgar, reviewed the work with me and also made sure I was happy with how the cleanup was. I will be insulating my garage and while I will do my due diligence, and get a few quotes, I cannot imagine anyone beating the service and price of Green Attic. I did not get any sort of discount for this review. I just really appreciate a job well done. read more

TLDR: We paid Green Attic $45,164 for them to do significant damage to our home and they refused to fix or help pay for all the damage and then threatened to place a lien on our home. We engaged Green Attic to insulate the attic of our historic 19th century home. While the crew insulated the attic, some cracks in the plaster ceilings started to worsen and drip so we had the crew halt their work. After discussion, we agreed that Green Attic would remove the plaster ceilings and replace with drywall, which is where the trouble started. When the ceiling was demoed, the crew didn't seal off rooms with plastic so the entire house was covered in black dust, which we were breathing in. We had to purchase plastic to seal off rooms ourselves to prevent further spreading of dust and risk to our health. The crew threw plaster debris out of 2nd story windows damaging our lawn and front garden. They regularly left large pieces of plaster in our lawn despite our requests that it be cleaned up, and we had to shop vac our lawn multiple times to clean it up. That was only the start of the negligent and disrespectful practices (and responses) we endured with Green Attic. The crew shockingly dumped and flushed drywall mud down our bathroom toilet into our newly-installed plumbing, which caused pipes to clog and required a plumber to come fix. They also used our bathroom for storage and splattered paint on the walls, which Green Attic never fixed. Further, the crew only protected our upstairs white carpets with a thin layer of paper, which was punctured during the ceiling demo. Ceiling dust and debris was ground into our carpet over the monthslong project, permanently staining the carpet. To Green Attic's credit, they did shampoo the carpets, but after this didn't remove the stains, they refused to reimburse us for the $1k+ it cost to replace the carpet. To sum up Green Attic's approach to customer service, the owner responded "We won't cover for carpet replacement due to being old and replacement is needed regardless of the stains. Green Attic sent a carpet cleaning company after client decide to keep the old carpet." The carpet was in good condition before the project and of course we did not accept the stained condition after it was "cleaned." This was a common theme for Green Attic, whenever there were issues with the work, their excuse was to tell us how our house was just old and that things needed to replaced to begin with or that they were under the impression that we renovating the entire house so that's why they didn't take more care - something we absolutely NEVER said. Green Attic also damaged many other parts of our home including the historic woodwork on our staircase, left a gaping hole in our bedroom floor after losing parts of the floor during the job, left paint stains all over hardwood floors, discarded original historic built-in shelves, broke blinds, and lost original window brass hardware. After weeks of requesting the hole in our floor be fixed and paint be removed from other hardwood floors, we resorted to hiring another firm to refinish the floors and Green Attic did not provide any compensation for this damage. The insulation work was surprisingly subpar as they were supposed to insulate our master closet, but failed to do so. We had to point this out, and even after they attempted to insulate the closet, it was only partially insulated and walls were hot to touch with temps exceeding 105 F on an infrared gun! A supervisor rarely came to inspect progress and we were forced to point out many of the issues, oftentimes with no follow-up or corrective action. A cleaning crew sent by Green Attic even showed up with a broken vacuum and then used ours and proceeded to break it! All of this was never rectified or reimbursed by Green Attic. They also took advantage of us by installing baffles in our attic for $1k when we don't have soffit vents - rendering the baffles useless. Throughout the job we routinely had to point out poor work that required fixing and struggled to reach James or Green Attic when issues arose or when there were repeated no-shows. The crews rarely spoke English and could not explain what they planned to do and we could not communicate with them effectively about problems they had caused. We had to go through James and Charlie instead, who were often unreachable or argumentative. We remained patient to a fault in hopes Green Attic would make things right, but we were let down again and again. We communicated with owner via email regarding all of the issues and after his response did not rectify all the issues, we responded, but never heard from him again. Instead, 5 months later Green Attic sent an email stating they intend to file a lien on our home with no consideration of all the damage and tremendous inconvenience they caused! We paid $45k for subpar work and had to spend thousands fixing damage caused by Green Attic along with the personal time wasted cleaning up after the crew. read more

So, I had one quote to seal my basement and crawl with insulation spray, and insulate my two attics to code. The first quote was $2900. Then, I had Green Attic come over and their quote was $9800. WOW!!! For reference sake, Green Attic added two solar attic fans and one half bath fan, so that was $2500 in the quote just for the 3 fans. And, the first company did not find mold, and Green Attic did. I'd say whomever hires this company is quite wealthy to spend 10K on insulating a 2300 sq foot house. Maybe they're amazing; or maybe just pricey. I'll never know. Here's what I do know: I asked re not using spray insulation (toxic when sprayed for at least 24 hrs and my HVAC people said it makes it tricky to change stuff out) and insulating the pipes instead. He said we don't insulate pipes. I also know they're on Nicor's list, so if you want the Nicor rebate, you have to go through their list, but that's not enough of a rebate to make a difference for such a high quote. They also offer a 5% discount if you hire them and agree to everything they think needs to be done within 10 days which sorry to say, I find that tactic repulsive. I thought the words "Green" in Green Attic may mean that they use nontoxic ways to insulate, but I think I got that wrong. At any rate, I'm going with the first company. read more

Very professional and knowledgeable installers. Extremely pleased with the job. Excellent value.

Green attack solutions did a ok job of adding insulation to my cathedral ceiling. They created a big mess and there was dust everywhere and many of my plants were crushed. The scheduling people are not very efficient and take forever to communicate with you about your scheduled time. They also installed insulation in my attics a few years ago and told me they were insulating 1600 sq ft which would have included my cathedral ceiling, but they only insulated the 2 attic spaces which is less than 1600 sq feet. Brought it up to them much later and they said they did everything correctly and I signed for it, so there. I actually had to call them 3 times telling them they had not taken my final payment yet. I asked for a discount since it took me hours of vacuuming and washing everything to get it to a livable place and they finally told me today no discount. All in all I would not recommend them until they get their act together, Could not reach them many time because they were in meetings. Whatever they are meeting about is not working, read more

I was looking for a contractor who deeply understands all my energy-efficiency goals for our home. Green Attic is that company. They insulated our attic affordably and quickly to R-60, past code, and the difference was night and day immediately. Literally within hours we noticed no condensation on our windows and, since we had the attic insulated one day before 6" of snow fell, we only had to wait 48 hours to see the difference with almost no icicles while our neighbors have visible ice dams. I am planning to work with them for several other energy efficiency upgrades like a heat pump install. If there was an option to give zero stars, that is what they would receive. Green Attic was hired to do some mold remediation and insulation installation inside my condo. Our HOA had some some previous insulation work in the past by Green Attic, so we felt comfortable in their ability to do a good job. This experience was completely different. Not only was their work subpar, but it was downright reckless and dangerous. These people have no business being in the mold remediation business! As with any project, I got 3 bids and they all pretty much said the same thing. They would come in and seal off the area, ventilate and filter the air with HEPA filters while doing demolition in full PPE. They would "follow" the mold to ensure they got it all, kill the mold, have a dehumidifier in the area for 72 hours and seal any impacted areas after treatment. These are general standards for this type of work. Pricing was estimated because until they opened the drywall they wouldn't know how much work was required. Green Attic did none of this. They sent over a crew that could not communicate. They put up plastic but didn't secure it to the floor. They didn't bring in any HEPA filters either. Unfortunately, I didn't micromanage the crew, so I didn't realize what had happened until they were half-way through demo. I called the company and they said "that comes later." To make matters worse, they didn't even track the mold and actually left drywall with visible surface mold! They didn't even protect my hardwood floors; just drop cloths! They sprayed a chemical all over which landed on the walls and the floors as well need to be repaired. Dimitri (supposedly the owner) came out and made all kinds of promises to make it right. He sent a crew to deliver a HEPA filter and dehumidifier, put down protective paper, remove the remaining drywall, and secure the plastic. They also fogged the area to kill any spores that may have gotten out. When he left I felt a little better, but that was short lived. From that point on there was zero follow through. One dehumidifier broke within hours, the replacement which was delivered a day later broke after 6 hours. The change filter light that was on for the HEPA filter was never addressed, and the crew never wiped down or sealed anything. Days went by where my house sat until I had enough and hired someone else. I brought in another company to properly do the work. It turned out that Green Attic didn't even chase the mold because the other company found more. The other company offered a completely different experience. Professional operating equipment was brought in and people in proper protective equipment did the work; properly. If you want to risk your health, throw your money away and get nothing in return, hire Green Attic. If you are like the rest of us, move along and hire a professional company to do this type of work. read more

Great job in insulating, sealing, etc, our attic. Everything was clean up after the job. We are very happy with the results.

We worked with David and the Green Attic Insulation installers to properly insulate our attic. We were aware of inadequate/improper insulation when we bought our home five years ago and reached out to several places for estimates; ultimately choosing Green Attic and pleased we did so. David, our estimator, is very knowledgeable and professional. He answered all of our questions and provided a variety of videos to help educate us about proper insulation methods. We thought the quote was fair and Green Attic was very accommodating to our wants and needs. David provided several new estimates when we had adjustments and was very responsive over both texts and emails. Scheduling the installation was completed within the same week as accepting the quote. The installers were on time, prepared, polite, and allowed us to verify the scope of work and check progress along the way. They completed the whole project within 1 day, including air sealing, insulating bath fan sleeves, installing baffles, and blow-in cellulose insulation with retaining walls around the attic hatch. All said, the whole process went very smooth -- no complaints. Hopefully, our upstairs will be more comfortable throughout the year and we'll save money on our energy costs :-) read more

I purchased the Energy Audit and I couldn't be happier with the results. After consulting with several different companies about my home's thermal efficiency/heat loss issues, I wasn't satisfied at all. It seems that almost any contractor I talked to just wanted to recommend their own solution, rather than help me accurately diagnose the issues. One company said I needed to spray foam the rim joists (they're a spray foam co.), another said I need to blow cellulose into the wall cavities from the outside of the house (just happens to be their specialty), another individual contractor told me to frame one specific room and use fiberglass batting (I guess that's just what he knows best). You get what you pay for and no free quote is free when all you ever get is a recommendation to do what the company likes to do best. So I decided to pay for an energy audit in an attempt to get an unbiased opinion of the real issues so I could make the best decision and hopefully not waste money doing this piecemeal without a holistic understanding or a good/better/solution. Tim from Green Attic Insulation was incredibly thorough and interactive, showing me every cold spot in the house with a thermal camera, then setup a blower door and showed me again how air was getting in and causing most of the issues. We talked about the basement, the attic, the walls and how his experience with other homes in the area informed his understanding of the issues in my home. That's exactly what you should look for in a contractor, someone who is willing to take a close look, explain the science, give recommendations without getting the work, and follow-up with all results and photos, regardless of further work. You have to pay for that, you can't just hope that you get it from a free quote. Best part: Tim gave me pointers on how to address many of the issues myself since I'm comfortable doing some things myself. I also got quotes for further work if I wanted to take it to the next level after I've addressed the quick wins on my own, and those quotes were very reasonable and competitive. read more

Long story short, my insulation needs were unexpected and came at the worst possible time weather wise. After doing some preliminary research, I reached out to Green Attic and am very happy I did. David was on top of my issues right away, despite the fact they were busy, and provided a bevy of helpful information that made me feel confident (during a difficult time) to move forward. Pricing was incredibly reasonable, and David was patient as variables (like the number of recessed lights that needed to be air sealed) kept changing. On my install date, the Romulo and his team arrived at the time I was told they would, and worked a very long day to ensure I'd be fully insulated by the evening (and below zero temps). SIDE NOTE: If you are buying an older home (bungalow, American four square, etc.), PLEASE consider getting a supplemental environmental inspection. The previous owners of the home I purchased purposely hid asbestos that was both in the attic and all over the HVAC system. We had an exposure event at the house when it poured through the ceiling of my daughter's room and got into the HVAC system, and because it wasn't covered by insurance the cost to remediate and re-insulate was all out of pocket (plus I had to throw away thousands of dollars worth of furniture, carpet, clothes, toys, bedding, etc.). David and his team were very understanding of my situation and a bright light during a very dark time. read more

Con Artist! I had them go through my roof to put insulation in my bedroom ceiling. I paid extra for skimming of the ceiling to make it smooth and clean. Welp job was done. Ceiling has about 15-20 indents. A day after they left my ceiling started leaking. When I told them they said not their fault the blamed the other sub-contractor they hired that did the interior drywall and skimming of course he said not his fault, so nothing was fixed. I had to pay out of pocket expenses. They literally cut a square out my external roof and place it back in. No sealing nothing. I went out there to move something and fell through the square. Also having insurance company look to see if there is even insulation in the ceiling after all the other lies. They never even reimbursed me for the items they broke. Like many people recently, our basement flooded and we needed mitigation fast! James was quick to respond, was out here in a jiffy, and had his people helping remediate in under 3 hours from when we contacted him. James was clear, reassuring, and professional. The crew who came in were kind, considerate, and did good work. I was really concerned since we had a finished basement and so much stuff down there that we would have to move it ourselves. Thankfully, moving things out of the way is something the crew was able to do -- and nothing was broken!! Whenever I had a question, it was answered quickly and any problems were solved immediately. My house was dried out and ready for construction to begin in three days, which is ideal. We only had flood remediation done and the job was terrific! read more

Incredibly informative! They did a quote and walkthrough of our home to double check all problem areas. Not only focusing on our attic and what improvements should be made but also other beneficial updates. Definitely the right people for the job. read more

Alex and his crew were on time, worked clean, and clearly answered any questions I had about the work being done. They did a great job.

I had a problem with paint peeling on the ceiling of a house I bought one year ago. My contractor diagnosed poor insulation. Of the five insulation contractors I called only two sent bids. The one from James at Green Attic was quite a bit less but very thorough with a better warranty and a solar fan. It was projected to take two days but Edgar, Jaime and Jaime finished it up in one day. They were on time, professional and cleaned up beautifully. Thanks to you all. read more
