I'm a huge fan of the Loop's OTHER Mediterranean go-to lunch spot (Roti!) so I was hesitant to give Med Kitch' a try just because I was fearful it wouldn't be as good as its competitor. As soon as I noticed not half as many toppings resided behind the counter a la Roti, my heart sank a little. One bite into my rotisserie chicken plate, though, and my heart fluttered like a tiny hummingbird. Med Kitchen might not have as many options as Roti, but what it has is good and that's all that matters. I have to disagree with the Yelpers who say the food is bland - my entire plate overflowth with spices, garlic and tasty-ness. The biggest bummer is the prices, though. $10 for 'fast food' is a few steps above what I'd like to pay for lunch. $8 would be awesome. But whatever. I'll still go back. read more

Med Kitchen is a great place for a hearty lunch. They serve authentic Mediterranean cuisine and it is consistently fresh and delicious. My favorite is their Platter with chicken kebobs, orzo, mixture of cucumber and tomato, salad, hummus and any other sauce, and it always comes with their pita bread. The platter is around $8 which is average in the neighborhood. Their orzo, kebobs, and falafels are the bright points at this place. I personally like their pita bread because it is very soft and not crunchy. A must try, but be warned they don't skimp on the serving size and you may find yourself sleepy at your desk after eating it all. read more

We are so glad to have tried Med coz the food was good and the price was reasonable We both had the lamb and beef (gyro), i had the sandwich (with tzatizki, crumbled feta, cucumber and tomatoes as toppings) and my colleague had the plate (with salad and rice pilaf). The food was good and the portion was huge. The place was clean and modern looking... quite like the chipotle layout. Oh, Med Kitchen...what would I do without you. You aren't the very very best Greek I've ever had, but you are fast, reliable, delicious, and ever so convenient! Seriously, how can you go wrong with good Greek quickly? This place gets super busy at lunch but the line moves pretty fast. You get the choice between salads, wraps, or plates. I usually opt for the plate because it includes your choice of a main meat (anything chicken or gyro is a guaranteed win) or dish (falafel and spinach pie!) a pita (white or whole wheat all nice and warm), rice or orzo pasta (get the orzo!!), tomato and cucumber salad with your choice of greek toppings, and then you get to pick between hummus or baba ganoush and then pick another sauce for your meat. Its not way too much food, and its all really fresh and appears to be fairly healthy depending on what you choose. They have yummy sides of stuff in the case, soups, and fountain soda or bottled choices. All in all, its a very solid choice if you are jonesing for some quality Greek/Med style food that is affordable and are in the Loop M-F from lunch to 8pm. Go there now!! read more

Went here for lunch around 1pm. The space is huge with plenty of seating, which is nice because it can be hard to find a seat in the area at lunchtime. The service was fast and efficient. We walked in (no line), ordered, paid and sat down within 3 minutes. Nice! The food is very good. Eat-a-Pita this is not. There is plenty to choose from, and the portions are huge. Cool spot for lunch or if you have a taste for a gyro...theirs is surprisingly very authentic! I always opt for the Greek salad with rotisserie chicken but lately the chicken has been really salty. Hands down one of the best "greek salads" I've eaten for the taste, price and portion. I'm a Greek salad junkie and try it nearly anywhere I go, and this place had a nearly perfect salad topped with perfectly seasoned chicken kabobs pieces, accompanied with either a whole wheat or regular pita. Ordering is confusing, as some items pertain to plates, others only to salads, etc. The food is mediocre and the hummus is awful. Way too salty. I've never had too-salty hummus until today. I'm fairly certain I was overcharged but when I tried to speak with them to clarify, they were rude and rushed. Go to Taza or to Roti. Both are better. read more

This place is solid. I've literally had the same thing 4 times...not my usual style, but the pork on a wheat pita and choose your toppings is beautiful. I hit it up with hummus, tzatziki sauce, olives, onions, tomatoes and...whatever else grabs my eye at the time. Pretty filling but not too much, which is good for lunchtime. Visited Med Kitchen for the first time today with my co-worker. I ordered a plate with steak. It is the worst experience I have ever had. The only topping options offered were orzo salad, Diced Tomatoes/Cucumbers, Hummus and chopped romaine (what happen to the crumbled feta, spicy feta, vinegar pickles, french fries, and baba ghanoush you mentioned on your website?!!!!) I asked for some spicy sauce and all I got is sauce look and taste like Sriracha. I looked at my place with 5 strips of steak and small scope of orzo and diced tomatoes - I could not stop laugh on how pathetic my lunch look. Most of all I can't believe we just paid $7.25 for that poor looking plate of food. How can you even call yourself HIP Mediterranean Food??!! I'm sure this will be our first and the last time visiting Med Kitchen. We'll be sure to share our experience with work and stick with ROTI. 90% of the time I would whole-heartily recommend GRK. The food is always fresh and the service, despite the panic-inducing line, fast. GRK offers loyalty punch cards where the 11th meal is free and I've gone through 3 now. I typically get the Village Salad, which is chunks of tomato, cucumber, onions, feta, olives, hot peppers, and fresh falafel. My only, ONLY complaint is that they don't always fill the bowl up to the top. Rather, the woman has a tendency to only fill it half way to capacity. This would be fine if I wasn't paying $8 for the salad. That being said, if the woman (very friendly) is filling it, make sure you ask her to fill it to the top (the other gentleman always does). Aside from that, I will always recommend this restaurant as a great place to grab lunch during the workday. If you're still hungry, get the rice pudding! read more

I am in charge of choosing a restaurant for our office to eat for lunch every day and I've gotten a good feel for which restaurants are the most consistently delicious. GRK is probably top 3. I'd add Trattoria Cateria and Avanti Cafe to that list but in terms of Greek food you can't beat the new GRK. Med Kitchen wasn't bad, but the rebranding worked in my opinion. We eat at Abou Andre, Haifa Cafe and Olive Mediterranean as well but GRK tops all of those. I typically get the spit fire chicken sandy with tzatziki and red spicy sauce on the side. That red sauce really makes it if you're into spicy food. I could crush one of those every day. Definitely suggest you try GRK if you like Mediterranean food. read more

The food is really tasty and fresh; however, the blatant disrespect, rude and ungrateful behavior of the so-called manager at this location is not worth the trip or the money spent. I and colleagues have spent several hundred dollars eating at this location nearby our workplace since the pandemic and 75% of the time the customer service is completely poor. I have witnessed the manager and his male staff coughing, sneezing, checking customers out and preparing food orders without a single handwash in between operating the cash register and making food orders. They yell over and across your food without a mask the first in an ongoing pandemic. That is absolutely disgusting, unsanitary and unacceptable. When called out on their lack of customer service and unsanitary food handling conditions I was disrespected by the manager, cursed, asked to leave and to never return because I refused to pay for old, soggy, burnt chicken kabob prepared in negligent, unsafe and unsanitary conditions, after wasting nearly 30 min of my lunch waiting for fresh food to be cooked and served from the female employee. She is actually the only employee there that attempts to provide quality customer service and safe and proper food handing to customers. I would give this place a 5+ stars for their salads alone. Fresh, delicious, great options to pick from and their meat is also A+. Sadly, there are other things wrong that take it right down to the 3 stars. To start... their hummus is terrible! I mean seriously, its a place that probably 2 out of 3 people add hummus to their entree and it is horrible. It tastes lemony or something. i don't want to judge med kitchen on hummus alone... so it gets two stars for being clean, airy and efficiently run. now about that hummus... it stinks! i'm vegan and hummus comprises about 50% of my diet, so i consider myself a chickpea/tahini mush connoisseur of sorts. and this just wasn't good... they obviously use canned garbanzos and don't rinse them, because the result is oddly fishy tasting. to add insult to injury, they don't peel the beans... the hummus was... clumpy. and i detected no tahini, no oil, no garlic or lemon. just pureed icky beans! hummus should be creamy and dreamy!!! read more

I tried this place for lunch and ordered a salad with falafel on it and they were so rushed that they put chicken on it instead. I told them that I wanted falafel, not chicken and rather than making me a new fresh salad, they half hazardly picked off some of the chicken, threw falafel on top and sent me on my way. I belong to a work lunch group. One of my co-workers ordered for us. They forgot my soup, the salad had no dressing on it, was the size of a side salad and the falafel had no sauce with it. Even worse the falafel were hard as rocks and they charged an extra $2.25 for 3. I'm going to pay $12 for a side salad and 3 falafel balls. They screwed up other orders as well. 1 star because I'm not sure which part of Greece forgot to teach you how to read (probably the illiterate part). We order via Seamless for lunch because we cannot leave our office during market hours. This is the third consecutive time the order was ass backwards despite the order being typed on the bag in clear English. 1. Four weeks ago, I asked for all the sauce and hummus on the side of my plate. Regardless, you dumped a gallon of ALL the sauces on my plate of chicken, steak and salad. Mmmm, hummus with a side of hummus. And some tzatziki to wash it down. 2. Two weeks ago, you raised the price of the orzo pasta salad to 2.95 when it was free for the last 3 years as an option from the rice. So I ordered the rice instead with my chicken, extra steak, and salad plate. Not only was there no steak, the chicken was only 1 order's worth, there was no salad, and the rice was just Uncle Ben's boiled brown rice. Last time I checked, Uncle Ben wasn't from the Mediterranean giving rice cooking tips to Spiros and Kostas in your kitchen. 3. Today, I ordered my standard chicken plate with extra steak with rice/salad side. Fortunately, on this strike you remembered the sauces on the side. But you forgot the steak. Again. But I got extra rice. Crisis averted. Out of the 15 orders we placed today, at least 5 were wrong (including, but not limited to, getting a sandwich instead of a plate, sauce on ALL the food, and forgotten items). Based on the food quality alone, 4 stars. But if you're ordering online, fuggeddaboudit. I won't be ordering online/phone because I'm pretty sure next time you're just going to send me some burgers from Wendy's. This is relatively healthy greek fast food. It is similar to Subway and Chipotle where you can pick the meat, vegetables and toppings. The chicken kabob is very flavorful, but the gyro is pretty salty. I didn't like the falafel, but overall it is a good lunch or catering spot in the loop. read more

I work at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, and I love the Greek Kitchen. But Margaret A who works on the register has a real bad attitude. I had stopped going there because of her nasty attitude and decided that I would go in to get some breakfast today. I got there at 6:59a.m. I went in at 7:00am and I was told we don't open for two minutes. I waited and in two minutes she went in the back got coffee and started stocking the counters. After the two minutes I explained to her that with any business that she be done before opening. She gave me this smart comment and said now we are open. Her attitude is always bad and if she does not like working with people or getting up in the morning, then she should find another job. Northwestern Hospital is a busy place and no one wants to be greatly like that in the morning. read more
