This place was only okay. It was very much Americanized Greek food. Carebear had the feta and olive platter - nothing too excited and she didn't really like her Spanikopita. I had the Moussaka and it was only meh - the potatoes in it were great, but the sauce tasted like canned sauce to me. The Avolemono soup didn't have any lemon in it at all. Even though it's been years since coming here I'm writing this review based on the Carle Place location that recently closed down. I'm not Greek so I don't know much about all the Greek dishes & what they're called. I am however a greedy foodie that is really critical about restaurant food. Review: Best gyros ever! Other food I've tested, simply amazing! Portion sizes are made for me a 6' 250lb greedy male. Simply put if I'm in the area hungry I'll detour for this place. Dressing had a lot of spice which should probably be mentioned, but it was good, just different. Greek Corner is known as Long Island's Best Greek food! They have enormous serving size (atleast for me) but very affordable and fair prices. The service was pretty fast, probably because it wasn't that crowded. The ambiance was great! I felt like I was in Santorini for a moment, having a eggplant santorini, crispy fries and a chicken gyro philly style with the greek Gods because of the exquisite wall painting. However, the place is quite small for a large party, so I guess... a take out could be an option if you are with a big squad. Also if you have a sweet tooth for drinks or an ice tea lover, their ice tea is unsweetened, just so you know! But maybe you could ask them to make it sweet, I'm not sure about that! The thing was we never knew it is unsweetened, all we knew we were gonna have ice tea and I've always expected to have a sweet one. Such a friendly restaurant! My friends and I visited in hopes of trying some Greek cuisine and boy were we satisfied! The service is top notch and the food is delicious. Some of the ingredients are imported from Greece itself which is amazing. The portions are very generous and the prices are awesome. Top notch food for a low price, what more can you want? I've gotten take out from here a few times before, inside is kind of small but has enough seats for people to eat comfortably, the menu is huge and there are a lot of items to get from here, so far I've had the falafel platter with lemon potatoes which was a big serving even for me, I also had the Athenian chicken souvlaki pita and he Greek salad. Greek corner is more then just a gyro place. Yes , the gyros are good and huge !! I ordered the grilled octopus ! Wow ! It was excellent ! I had the same dish in milos in Manhattan and Greek corner was just as good at a quarter of the price. I like the more authentic Greek specialities. The food is superb! Price is reasonable for it's huge portion. I ordered lamb souvlaki a couple of nights ago and it's kinda not for people with weak muscles for mastication but the sides were good especially the string beans and the Greek salad let alone the flat bread. I was surprised about the carrot cake which tastes sooooo goooood! Note: it's not a bakeshop. If only the lamb is not over cooked then I could've given this food shack 5 stars. We came here because this restaurant had good reviews. We ordered a spanakopita and Greek salad with falafel. The salad was good, but he put in way too much feta cheese so we took some home. The spinach pie was good but nothing like we ever had before, his own homemade version. My husband said the falafel was good but it might have been over fried. That's why I don't eat that stuff. I was disappointed in how old and unclean this restaurant is. Therefore, unless Restaurant Impossible comes in and fixes up this place, I won't be back. The Chicken Gyros are absolutely perfect (and they are HUGE)...the French Fries are amazing and the Chicken Soulvaki is tender...A firm warning: ALL THE PORTIONS ARE HUMONGOUS....but that is not to say its expensive..the food is fairly priced. I've eaten in the restaurant itself one time and the staff was very courteous and respectful...The place itself is clean and classy...It's a warm and cozy place with traditional Greek music being played. First time I went to the restaurant was at the time of Greek Easter. This place had it ALL! Mageritsa (spinach soup with Lamb), tsoureki (Easter bread), kokoretsi( special lamb dish), variety of cookies and more.
