Like I say this is not a real Chinese food restaurant.. I order the shrimp egg foo young and hot and sour soup. Egg foo young has little flavor also the high and sour soup. I was lucky I had some good Kikkoman Soy Sauce like the one they give you is do do. Also I order for three other of my friend. So it came up to for the free order general tao chicken for free over the spending of $40.00 or more. I also order the shrimp and walnuts before and it just barely passed It's the last time I order from here. Remember it's like the china town in Washington, DC. Very convinent for me to make an online order and walk over to get my order. Very good general tso chicken. Although it may be awkward if you are dining in and see then eating along side you, it's because it's a family ran business and they need some time to eat also. Overall: cheap/good food. I ordered shrimp in lemon sauce expecting just that. Instead I got shrimp somewhat fried in so much dough it was hard to find the shrimp. I had to peel off all the dough in order to eat the meal. (The lemon sauce was delicious). I called to complain about the doughy shrimp since there was no mention of that on the menu and was offered a free meal which I collected on the next day. Chose sesame beef since I knew what that would be. It arrived in a sauce, but was not fried as I expected and had very few sesames. BUT, the sauce was delicious. I had a horrible experience with this restaurant. I ordered food for delivery and patiently waited over an hour for it. An hour and 15 minutes later, I got a call from the delivery driver saying that he was outside of my apartment building. I instructed him on how to enter the building, and waited for him to knock on my door. 5 minutes later, I was still waiting, so I decided to go down and see if he couldn't get in. When I got to the door, nobody was standing there, so I called him to see where he was. The first thing he said when he answered was, "yes, I delivered your food to you." Dumbfounded, I told him that he delivered to the wrong person, and I proceeded to hear him bang on the door of the person he delivered to, demanding the food back. I then found out he was in the wrong building completely; I told him the correct building number and went back to my apartment to wait. I got another call from him 5 minutes later saying he was lost, so I asked him to tell me what building he was next to. He told me, so I attempted to instruct him on how to get to my building, but he kept talking over my saying, "this is no good, this is no good." Every time I tried to say something, that was what he said. I was able to finally instruct him fully, then he hung up on me. I waited another 8 minutes or so, then called him again to see where he was. What he said next completely took me by surprise. He said, "This is no good, I can't read the numbers on the buildings. I'm going back home." I responded with, "Excuse me? I paid for this food, and you're already in the area." He then said, "I'm sorry, but we are very busy. This is not good." Extremely frustrated, I told him to park at the nearest building, tell me the building number, and I would walk to him. He told me the building number, and I asked him at least 10 time for confirmation because at this point I couldn't trust him. So I leave my apartment again, walk to the building he was by, and called him to say I was by the door of the building. Of course, not surprisingly, he wasn't at the building. So for 10 minutes, I walked around trying to find him. I finally gave him an alternate address that was outside of my apartment complex that we could meet at so I could just get my food. While I was walking there, he called me to tell me he finally found my building. Of course. So I walk back to my building, and he is waiting in his car outside. When I get my food, he tells me to check it because when he delivered to the wrong person, they opened the bag. I grudgingly say yes, and he then told me, "This are is no good, no more ordering delivery." Saying nothing, I walk away from him and think to myself, "Don't worry, I'm never ordering from you again." So long story short, I went through a shit show for almost 2 hours just to get some less than mediocre Chinese food. read more

My boyfriend have tried many take-out Chinese places in Springfield and decided to try Great Wall shortly after they opened. We were blown away by the service and the quality of the food. By far one of the best take-out places around. They also are extremely nice when they deliver to houses. We too got a calendar and extra little authentic goodies for free! read more

We come here pretty often and never had a problem with the food. I almost always get the General Tso's chicken, it's really tasty. Best Chinese food in this area. The delivery took only about 20 minutes, where as other places Ive ordered from took up to 45 minutes. The food was delicious! The food was very fresh tasting and I didnt feel like I was eating slop. Prices are very reasonable for both lunch and dinner options. The only reason I am giving this place two stars is because the younger gentleman behind the counter was very nice and pleasant. Good customer service. The food however was mediocre at best. (I am being generous.) Food: Moo Goo Gai Pan- Thin filmy chunks of chicken. The dish was overrun by mushrooms and there were three sad little snow peas. Szechuan Shrimp- 5 pieces of shrimp with an abundance of celery and onion. The sauce was a little slimy. Shrimp Lo Mein- The noodles were mushy. (I had waited about 5 minutes for my food to be ready and took it straight home which took another 10 minutes. The noodles should not have gotten so mushy in such an amount of time.) Ma Po Tofu- Not spicy at all. Everything seemed to be oversauced with too much sugar. I would not recommend this place. I am not even asking for authentic Chinese food. Apparently this restaurant is under new management again, since I recently received a nice multi-color mailer/menu with words to that effect. So I called for delivery and was quite surprised that they delivered to the vicinity of Rolling Road near West Springfield! The order taker was very pleasant and the food? Let's just say that it brought back pleasant memories of pay day Chinese for the family from the South China Cafe in Seattle. The appetizers, Crab Rangoon and Honey Spare Ribs, were exactly like I remember from childhood: Not at all greasy and quite flavorful. The General Tso's Shrimp was large ("two biters"), fully breaded and fried atop stir fried broccoli. The sauce was a bit thin and not too spicy hot (I had asked for extra hot), and delivered in a separate container. The Black Pepper Beef was nicely done in green bell peppers and onions and a light sauce. Used a coupon special for chicken fried rice, and again it matched my memory of how fried rice is supposed to be done: Not greasy! I had a livingsocial voucher, so I decided to place an order with them. I used the livingsocial take-out ordering system to specify that I would like to place an order for a pick-up time that was 2 hours later. When I went to pick up my order, they asked where I had been because my order was apparently cooked immediately rather than later, and informed me that my order has been waiting for me on the counter for a while. Even after explaining to the staff that my order was placed for a later pick uptime, they had two workers there teaming up on me to tell me that I was wrong. I asked them to remake the food, but they insisted it was my fault and that I must take the food that was prepared earlier. Any restaurant that 1) takes pride in making sure customer know they they are wrong, and 2) is so cheap that they can't simply remake my $15 dinner that probaby cost them only $2 to make, does not deserve my business. There are too many other decent chinese food restaurants in the area to have to settle for that type of service. As for the quality of the food, it was just ordinary, and not worth trying. read more

Ordered a small fried rice an order of dumplings and 2 spring rolls. It took an hour and 20 minutes to get our order. After calling and being told "I'm on the way" it took another 30 minutes. When the food arrived it was lukewarm at best. The dumplings were average, the spring rolls had absolutely no flavor and the fried rice was not good. The food here is similar to Hong Kong Express but better and cheaper. I have tried so many chinese takeout type restaurants in the West Springfield and Burke area and this is the BEST one and at a good price. Lunch specials are $5.95 with eggroll. had one of their veggie chicken products. It tastes good but it's not made out of tofu. The salesperson indicated that the veggie meat was made with tofu but in actuality it is textured vegetable protein. I had them give me the package so I could read the ingredients which also included 25 other ingredients. I have bad reactions to textured vegetable protein so you need to make sure that you're okay with that product if you eat their veggie products because its not tofu like they tell you. This is my go to place for my Chinese delivery. Only had one bad experience with the delivery driver not knowing where to find me but the food makes up for it. The general tso chicken has a good taste and its crunchy, white rice (I never get fried rice) goes well with it, also the teriyaki beef is amazing (though a bit pricy for only 4). The online menu also needs an update, please add extra side items (like white rice). I always have to order a water and add a note for them to give me extra rice. It used to be a soda, so the price for extra white rice went from $1 to now $2, but that's still not too bad. Aside from that it's good, like any Chinese delivery some things are hit and miss but you can't go wrong with what I said above. Their pork is pretty tasteless so I wouldn't recommend it. Also delivery time can take close to an hour, so don't order on a hungry or empty stomach. 5/5 will stuff myself with Chinese food again. read more

If you want bad customer service and average Chinese food, employees that lie and get your order incorrect this is the place for you. We ordered from this place a few times before they have messed up plenty of times before this most recent incident but nothing to this extreme. After ordering Fried rice with all of our meals they bring us the incorrect order, we call back requesting that they come and make the change the cashier Miya says that they are closed for the night, at 8:30pm. I then say "well your hours have you location still open are you honestly closed?" She then admits they aren't closed and she will "GET ME THE NEXT TIME" whatever the hell that means. The last time i checked businesses don't use the barter system. After asking to speak to a manager she then says he is gone as well, at this point i know what it is and just ask for them to exchange the rice since they screwed up the order she then says sure but can you give the delivery driver two dollars, at that point I just get pissed and asked why would I pay someone money for messing up our order she goes silent for five minutes. Then says "ok I will bring you one fried rice ok" at that point i heard enough. We will never order from Great Wall again and unless you can verify everything they're making and putting in your bag I wouldn't order from them if I was reading this review. P.S. We have always had good luck with Great Wall. There food tastes better than the normal hole in the wall Chinese Restaurant and has a decent amount of flavor. Our favorites are Kun Pau Chicken, Singapore Noodles, and Shrimp w/ broccoli. Their deliver service is not bad but can have delays during busy times. read more
