I was working nearby so I took a walk to this place. It was fairly easy to get to which is saying a lot on busy san Jose. The shopping plaza its in appears to be deserted or at least on the end where the restaurant is. There were no cars out front. The set up inside resembles "COVID" times with a few chairs and one dinning table. The plexi glass, food box setup is till present. The cashier was nice. I called my order in once I got close so I didn't wait that long. The chicken was ok. Typical sweet and sour chicken. The rice however was a disappointment, not surprising because it seems that there are no longer any Chinese restaurants that actually fry rice. The rice seemed buttery and like I cooked it at home. My wife and I went to Great Wall yesterday for take out delivery. I order szenhen Steak and my wife order moo shu vegetable. When we got home my wife meal was all gravy and had a very bad smell it wasn't eatable . Today, we return to the Great Wall with my wife's meal hoping to get something else to replace the other meal. The mgr refuse to replace the meal and was very unprofessional. We didn't want a refund just a replacement of the bad meal. Today they lost a customer for good. read more

It has been many years since I have eaten their food and based on what we received we will not be going back. The food was not eatable. The fried rice tasted like they were using old rice with barely any vegetables in the fried rice. In addition the rice color looked gray. The food was thrown out with the garbage. The first time we had Great Wall, I was pleasantly surprised and thought we had finally found a really good Chinese restaurant. The next time we picked up food from there, they forgot my lo mien and everything was subpar. Everything liked flavor and sauces. The most recent experience we pretty much the same, except all our food was received. The only thing that as good was the fried rice and General Tso's Chicken. Everything else was just meh and I ended up feeling sick afterwards. I don't think I'll go out of my way to eat there any time soon. read more

Best Chinese take out in Jacksonville! I have been coming here for years and it is consistently yummy! I just love the manager, Candy who always greets me with a smile and a few kind words. She knows all of her repeat customers and treats us like friends. Everything I have tried there has been fresh and flavorful. To me, they make the tastiest general Tso's chicken around and do a delicious tofu version. The shrimp egg foo young is also one of my go to's with that scrumptious brown gravy. You can always tell great Chinese food restaurant by the fried rice and I love it! It is always fresh and has a slightly smoky flavor. I would recommend Great Wall ten out of ten times! This take out only Chinese restaurant in the shopping plaza where Bealls was on San Jose does not deserve you business and has lost ours for good. I tried a dish there yesterday, Moo Shoo Vegetable, that was inedible. When we got home I opened the takeout container and discovered a pool of liquid surrounding a very unappetizing tangle of cooked cabbage. No other discernible vegetables as I've had at other local establishments. I tried to eat part of the entree but could not. It soaked right through the wrapper / skin and made such a mess that I gave up. I returned to the restaurant today to express my disappointment and was told by the manager that it was my fault for ordering the vegetable dish, that vegetables get soggy, and that they would not make me another dish nor refund my money. The manager's attitude was rude and very offensive. With the large variety of to-go Chinese restaurants in Jacksonville (Mandarin area), we will be happy to take our business elsewhere. We hope our neighbors and visitors to this neighborhood will follow our lead and find another Chinese take out, and soon. read more

Well anyway not to take too much from them I did enjoy my General Tso Chicken for Lunch. $5.89 for a nice serving for at least two. It was hot and tasty. Just the right amount of chicken and rice and 2 broccoli spears...lol Certainly I hope that they read their reviews. Other than that if you are in Mandarin Area they are there awaiting your arrival. Been going to Great Wall for a long time. Orange Chicken is awesome. Have noticed their Egg Rolls and Spring Rolls have decreased in size and the contents have gotten really skimpy. We used to get takeout from this location once a week, but with a lot of similar places around they had fallen out of the rotation. We tried it again the other night and while the food was fine they had somehow gotten the order wrong and packed a different dish than what was ordered. Unfortunately my wife is allergic to seafood but we returned the wrong item and they made the correct one. It's hey about time I post a review for Great Wall. My family and I had an amazing little Chinese restaurant right around the corner from our house but then we moved about a year ago. We looked for another amazing little place close to our home. One day my husband accidentally found this place. We were so super excited. The people are nice, the food is great, the prices are good, huge portions, and very fast. They do delivery but honestly pick up at the restaurant on the way home. Its very hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for. On San Jose they are located in the shopping center with Bealls and Wells Fargo on the corner with the library and Walgreens across the street. You should go check them out it's super good stuff. Honestly my favorite is just the plain vegetable fried rice and also the vegetable shrimp is pretty ridiculous. Go try for yourself! read more
