3.5 stars?! Now I know Yelp is rigged. This place is DISGUSTING, or has none of the reviewers ever looked down at the carpet? Cockroaches wouldn't stay on it. I'm sure when they open the doors first thing in the morning, they can smell that carpet. It is worn down but good thing for the thick layer of grease and grime on top, there's no more wearing on that carpet because you can't get to it! It's forever encased under the hardened greasegrime case. Not only that, but a fine sprinkle of food crumbs and debris litter the ground but business as usual. They give you a plate of fried wonton chips and sweet and sour sauce as an appetizer. Okay, so your target group are not Asians. Their mein is not really mein but more like spaghetti, as described by the waitress. I went with the house fried rice. Hmm...I could eat it. Their Peking duck is dry - the duck was probably baked outside in the desert sun earlier that day. Missing was the succulent crispy skin that pinches out deliciously flavored duck fat roasted to perfection. Effort though is applauded. Even if their food was delicious, I wouldn't return until they do something about their flooring. I guess I'll never find out what they do with their flooring. read more

Great wall was a great place about 3 years ago. It seems quality has suffered . Everything taste the same. All the awards on the wall from the local paper might have made this place to comfy and they stopped trying to impress or care. went for lunch today only because there is no other choices except for the blvd, if you looking for chinese. Salty very salty. The fried rice flavorless. The egg drop soup ; thick mucouse mess. Almond chicken. Plenty of almonds no chicken. It was trully awful. The price cheap. I guess a lunch special at 5.95 is never gonna be a 5 star meal but i expected more. Service has been hit and miss. Today was ok. The tea is good if anything positive can be said. If only an authentic chinese resteraunt would open in the lancaster area. Great wall would be closing doors. Lack of choice keeps this place going and getting awards. read more

they have a great take out special for two or three that you can't get with any of the food delivery places, so it's worth ordering and picking up if you like take out. We've ordered take out twice and ordered once with Door Dash. Food is really good. Never ate there so can't talk about the service, but nice dining area and for take out there's no complaints...food is ready in 10-15 mins. for pick up. read more

I love Great Wall. I've been coming here for years. I personally love the food. I like that the portions are fair. I always have leftovers to take home. I like that they have a competent gal at the front that always gets my order right, no matter how busy they are. My husband says they're a little pricey, but I disagree. It freaks me out a bit that they have a "B." I know it's an older building. The decor is very outdated/seems a bit dingy. The only other thing I can think of is that they charge for soda refills. Today I went in to treat myself to a tasty lunch, I dined in and to my surprise was joined by my mother. While sitting and eating our food there was a huge cockroach crawling on the wall right behind me! YUCK! I was extremely disappointed and disgusted to see it in broad daylight. As I immediately gathered mine and my mother's things I asked for the check and to my surprise again, management still asked me to pay. I've been dining at Great Wall almost as long as its been open, both sit-down and takeout, and its one of those places we return time and time again. Is the decor dated? Maybe. The service is attentive and friendly, and the food is just as memorable each time we eat. Favorites are lemon chicken, orange chicken, paper wrapped chicken, sizzling rice soup, war won ton soup, and their supremely affordable lunch specials. There was a waiter who knew us so well, for the number of times we dined there a month, he had our orders memorized. The food is so delicious (minus the hair I found in my chow mien) but the service sucks. Waited 15 minutes for a table (there were tables open all over the restaurant), sat at the table for 10 minutes waiting for the waitress to come over and take our order. finally she came over asked if we were ready to order right now we all said yes and she said okay I will be back in a few minutes. we all order combination plates which is suppose to come with soup, egg roll, fried wantons, steamed or fried rice. well the waitress ended up doing everything single order. then she told my step dad that he could do no substitutions then suggested something else for him to order and then suggested switching veggies for all broccoli. it was highly annoying. then we orders a side of chicken chow mien and found a long hair inside it. she took it back and they gave us a new one super quick. but after that no one wanted to eat the chow mien. Be sure to check your food if you order take-out! Last time we picked up our order, 3 of the entrees were only about 3/4 to 4/5 full, and being in a hurry we failed to check. Went for lunch, with my family, hostess was like always very sweet and polite, I love the food the service it's all around good place to go.

The kung pao chicken has no flavor. It is supposed to have some spunk. The red peppers in the dish are just for show. The orange chicken is solidly crunchy. Very disappointed in these two dishes. Orange chicken should be big pieces of chicken that are soft inside with lots of flavor. What you get here is not the normal expected orange chicken you get at any other Chinese place. read more

Wow, this was the worst visit ever! The cashier was rude, as normal. But we called ahead, and spoke to Kim, so that she would not wait on us, as we were picking up our food. Of course, she did and she was rude and obnoxious. We waited an additional 22 minutes past the time that we were told the food would be ready. Then half of the food was cold. We PAID, for EXTRA hot mustard and we were given old mustard that was hard, and it had lost its flavor. We will not be back ever! Two stars at best and should be renamed The "Not So Great Wall." Their health department rating has slipped to B. We ate there today. The a/c wasn't working well, the restrooms were dirty, the soy sauce bottle was sticky and hadn't been wiped off. The hot tea was lukewarm. The food was not that great. The Great Wall definitely awesome! The Ups: The food is great. It's so delicious! The prices are wonderful, the lunch and dinner specials are the ones I aim for! My crew from the LPAC and I always go during our meal breaks because we can get a lot of food for not a lot of money in a short amount of time. The Downs: They never ask if you want anything other than water to drink. If you do get a soda, they won't refill it until you ask them to. Prices are very good, decent portions as well. Ambience isn't bad either. Reason for the 3 stars is the combination fried rice we got to go. Dish was basically dried up, same for the one that came with the ala carte items we bought to go. Had to have noodles on New Year's day to keep in tradition with long life amongst the many other traditions I practiced for 2012. Used Yelp to find Great Wall, when we entered the restaurant posted are the Antelope Valley Bests awards, they have won since 2002. I think this is mainly attributed to the AV not having many Chinese Restaurants, since being the "best" shouldn't give you an average rating of 3 1/2 stars on yelp. Personally I give them a 3. Boyfriend and I shared a Low Mein with BBQ pork for $6 and some change. Noodles were alright I've had better but for the price and the extras I'd come back to try other dishes, basically we got fried noodles with dipping sauce, hot tea, full of noodles, and of course 2 fortune cookies. The Low mein was a little saucy and the flavor was average. The vegetables were cut small i would have preferred bigger cuts along with the portion of bbq pork. read more

Found a dead insect of some kind in the wonton soup we had earlier this evening. We all just tried laughed it off and alerted management, but I had a hard time eating the rest of the food. Only upside was they did comp us for our soup and gave us a discount on our meal. It was pretty funny that they kept saying it was a frog, but there were clearly insect legs and what looked like wings on it. It may take me some time to come back again. read more
