Don't order from here. I waited 3 hours for my food to be delivered and called 4 times and was hung up on each time without my issue being handled. After 3 hours they canceled my order. I never leave reviews but I was so upset with the service. read more

I recommend the dumplings, beef noodles and beef pancakes, everything is usually made fresh. Their prices are so cheap and affordable.

The dumpilngs hit the spot and I appreciate having a decent amount of tables and chairs as well as space to turn, which is not like a lot of dumpling houses in NY. I do ask myself if we really need another place selling dumplings but in the spirit of competition, having another choice for consumers never really hurts. I got 20 to take out ($5) and when I got home I was wondering why they didn't give any soy sauce or anything. I bit into one and I was pleasantly surprised at the juiciness that came spilling out of the dumpling. It's not often that you will get a dumpling that encloses all the soupy goodness inside of it. That was a nice touch and very hard to do! I also tried the sesame pancake, not my thing. It was a little to dry for me. read more

Its a 3.5...I walked miles to get to this place...and was excited to try this place out....Im a big eater....max dumpling count = 30 with hot and sour soup and beef noodles.....HOLY! =X Anywho...i didnt want to order that many there...because what if it sucked? Then i will be forcing myself to eat it because i dont wanna waste food....so i ordered 5 for $1 and with the hot and sour soup ($1.25). The dumpling was pretty good, but it wasnt crunchy enough and it was moist...which is a big no no in Guo Tie's (Pot stick dumpling) World. Moving onto the hot and sour soup...it was actually ok...there were enough ingredients, but the spiciness wasnt quite there...it felt like they used hot sauce instead of the real spices to make the soup... Even though this place wasnt as good as the old dumpling place in Chinatown at Allen Street (now moved to Flushing...so sad!!), but it was good, and its cheap eat...definitely will come back..!! read more

So glad this Prosperity offshoot opened just before I moved to the neighborhood. There are lots of dumplings on offer in Sunset Park, and I haven't gotten around to trying them all yet. But I know Prosperity is near the top in quality - and not just for their dumplings. The sesame pancake is one of my favorite dishes on the planet - whether filled with beef, plain, or filled with just carrots and cilantro and hot sauce, it's a warm, puffy, oily slice of heaven. Stopped by to check out their dumplings. Was not to impressed by the way they were cooked. My preference is to have the skin fried a little to add some crunchy texture. Kai Feng makes them crunchy. The meat was sweet, and I did not try the won-ton noodle soup. So until further taste-afaction the jury is still out. read more

You can't go wrong with this place. This simple, delicious and amazingly cheap dumpling spot in Brooklyn's Chinatown was the highlight of our Saturday bike adventure. 8 dumplings and soup for $2.50, we were stuffed for less than the price of a frappuccino! They have a huge menu of all sorts of things I didn't recognize. Apparently they have frozen dumplings that you can take home and cook and the price is on point, but probably much tastier, to dumplings you can buy at Trader Joes. Glad to see this was a popular place. During our visit on Saturday afternoon, the line never stopped. I just wish I could bike here faster because it was so good and affordable! read more

Popped in here on a Monday late afternoon to grab some dumplings to hold me over before dinner and it was a good decision! First time here and will definitely make another trip back soon. The Brooklyn arm of Prosperity Dumpling gets 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple reasons: (1) they have 4 for a buck instead of 5 like the original Eldridge St. location, (2) the dumplings took way longer to come out...I know when they run out and have to fry up a new batch of dumplings it takes a while, but the Eldridge Prosperity always seems to have at least a few left and a new batch on. (3) the dumplings were slightly less delicious than the Manhattan location, which is not to say that they weren't delightful, but they were a little less flavorful, the wrappers seemed a little thinner and weaker, and the filling didn't kick ass quite as much. Also, I've never had the hot and sour soup from the original Prosperity, but don't bother at this one; it was near-hair gel consistency and had hardly any flavor. Had to dump a ton of dumpling sauce into the soup to make it enjoyable enough to eat. One of my favorite things about both Prosperity Dumplings is they let you mix your own sauce out of black and white vinegars and sriracha. No matter what I do, I can't seem to duplicate the amazing flavor that comes from that trifecta of sauces anywhere else. read more

Okay I stopped in here on a humble............ I remember when they first opened, they were called Prosperity dumplings. I normally go to Eldridge Street for the original Prosperity with the killer dumplings and killer vinegar soy sauce, or to Kai Feng Fu for their killer dumplings and pork buns but so so soy sauce. This place has made me a believer! For $2.00 I received 10 piping hot dumplings. They were just like Prosperity!!! The outside was cooked just perfect and the pork and leeks inside tasted just like Prosperity. In writing this I shed a tear, because between the annoying NYC tourists, the hipsters and the cramped quarters of the original Prosperity, we have our own Brooklyn outpost!! Yes..... Brooklyn we have come up!!! I'm not sure if they are the same but dammit, they sure taste and smell like Prosperity! Best time to go ... middle of the day! Forget weekends or evenings. The dumplings are to die-for! But know what you want because they are not the friendliest people and can act gruff at times. Food is paid for upfront but it's worth it! The sesame pancakes are greasy but good! The dumplings are great! Better than any others in the area! Everything is cheap, you can get a whole meal for less than $5.00! They are not stingy with the sauce and you could sit to eat if you wanted! 2 orders of dumplings, veggie pancake, pork fried rice - $10. Plenty of food for a good price. It took awhile to get the food, but it was piping hot and delicious. The vegetable dumplings had a lot of flavor and they were packed full, sometimes you go somewhere and the vegetable ones are lacking in something...but these didn't feel like you were missing anything. Their steamed buns 6 for $2.75 are SO DAMN GOOD. They're so tasty and deliciously soft. Their fried buns for $1 always run out except if you get there early in the morning. Their beverages are cheap too, compared to convenience stores in the area. Their crab Rangoons are crispy and have dessert-level sweetness. I've been twice- the first time I got the shrimp dumpling soup (which was great!) and vegetable dumplings. The vegetable dumplings fell apart, and the filling bland and uniniteresting. I came back for shrimp dumplings, thinking they'd be good since they'd been great in the soup. Unfortunately, they also fell apart and were not tasty at all. My colleague got the pork and chive dumplings and was also unimpressed. I'll be sticking with Kai Feng Fu in the future. read more

I have literally walked MILES to partake of Prosperity's dumplings. And Yes, I bring my own chopsticks hahaha,(just that I feel comfortable with wood and not plastic.) Great place. I confess I actually made the trip all the way to 8th Avenue just to check this place out. Lately, there has been a lot of these dollar dumpling places popping up (or perhaps I've been so used to dining out in Manhattan or living under a rock), just as there are now these dollar slice pizza places popping up. When people are accustomed to paying 5 bucks for 8 dumplings or 4 bucks for a slice, restaurants like these just catch your attention. But the question is, are the foods up to standard. ok, so its no longer Prosperity Dumpling... Maybe its the same owner, but probably not. here's what I noticed: --Pork Dumplings I had last night were not as crisp on the bottom as they should be but still very tasty. --Sesame pancake w. beef was also pretty good. --Dumpling soup was bland, not recommended. overall, still worth the price of admission b/c this food is almost free. If I am ever homeless, I am going to live in Chinatown where 3 dollars will get you 2000 calories. the man cooking/serving the food was very nice. read more

I only tried the veggie dumplings, but they were inedible--the filling basically consisted of reeking overcooked cabbage.

first off, I believe they changed the name, it's no longer "prosperity dumpling". I had the fried pork dumplings and the boiled veggie dumpling. the fried ones were good. The veggies are not something I would EVER recommend.... Chewing on the first piece of veggie dumping, everything seems fine, the 2nd and third pieces were safe.... then (DUM da dum dummm....) the forth piece.... as I was chewing I notice there was something odd, there was something that was not suppose to be in there. I continue to chew and chew, there was something hard that cannot possibly be a cabbage! I pulled out a metal foil in my mouth.... WTF?!?!?!? normally when I'm seriously hungry (which was the case when I got the dumplings), I tend to chew 2 times and swallow like a duck, didn't know what came over me to make me chew my foods... thankgod I did otherwise I would have swallow that foreign object. With the upcoming snow storm ahead.. I thought it best to buy a bunch of dumplings to store at home in the event that I get a craving and they're closed (god forbid!). If you didn't know.. they sell bags of 50 of their frozen bok choy/chive w/ pork dumplings. It's easy to make and only takes about 10-15 minutes to cook (in boiling water). Now the menu reads $10 per bag.. but I was pleasantly surprised when they only charged me $9. So happy was I.. that I purchased 2 bags!! read more

I LOVE this place! I've been to at least 3 other dumpling places in the area and this is by far my favorite place to go for cheap ass dumplings. Their wonton noodle soup is good. It's filling. A nice treat on a cold day. It looks as though they opened a few months ago, but I don't know why it seems dirty inside all the time. Hmmm . . . I know it's a chain but I swear this place is slightly better. Their fried dumplings are cleaner, less broken apart and the red siracha dipping sauce is less watered down. This is my favorite dumpling house EVER. It's honestly cheaper than the fried dumplings I used to buy every week in Hong Kong. 5 for $1! And delicious!!! I usually get 15 and eat them in one sitting. I've never spent more than $3 in this place and always know I'll be full and happy. read more

I love this place. My bf and I come here often and order food. This place could feed a whole family for under 10 bucks! I love the stir noodles and the vegetable pancakes. I also like getting hot soy milk in the winter...no sugar is added. The dumplings are my boyfriends's favorite and a dollar for 5 is a really good deal. The tables could be clean a little more often and the trash taken out but the food is good and cheap that keeps me coming back. I love it here in the summer cause they have fresh soy milk to go along with your dumplings which can't be beat. These dumplings are the epitome of dumplings. Soooo juicy and tasty. No wonder they're called "great taste dumpling".
