My wife and I decided to try this place out on 02/28/2025 @ 1030. It was the pier 54 store. We should have suspected something when we noticed 2 couples leaving with disgusting looking faces. We got 2 burgers, 1 order of fries, 1 soda, and 1 coffee for $44.73. Before I ordered, I asked the size of the burgers, the manager a female with dirty blonde hair said 1/4 lb...BS! Maybe if you were to take 3 patties and put them together. I also asked if the fries were a shareable size, her answer was "it's enough to make 2 grown ups full", again not true. When we got our food, the burgers were warm not hot. The fries seemed like they refried them to make them hot, sorry that didn't work either. Not only that, what little burnt refried fries we received were the ones you scrap from the bottom of the pan to throw away. The icing on the cake was when the manager/cashier came over to ask us how was everything. When we told her, she said the fries were fresh. I showed her our fries, her faced turned red. Nonetheless, she stuck to her guns and stood up for this poor, pitiful food and said your fries were freshly made. We took about 2 bites then threw away our food. However we did not leave, we sat there waiting for another couple to receive their food. Amazing, their fries were looking good, lightly golden brown not burnt​ looking. I pointed out the comparison, her reply was "let me look at your fries". She knew we threw out our food because she watched me do it. I would NEVER recommend this place to my worst enemy! Note that Amazon's Day 1 building garage has free parking on weekday evenings (4pm onwards) and during all day on weekends, so that can be a parking option. Ambience: clean and spacious with plenty of seats. Seven booths that seat can seat four each, half a dozen tables, bar-type seating for five or six, and a few tables outside. Music. Clearly marked ordering and pick up areas. Service: friendly service. They keen the place clean. Self-serve soda from Jones soda machine (cane sugar cola, sugar free cola, root beer, lemon lime, ginger ale, green apple soda etc.). You'll get a buzzer which indicates when the food is ready. Food: tried the veggie combo and it was OK. The burger is smaller and simpler than I expected. Deep fried potato patty (it is crunchy but tastes a bit like oil), tomato, lettuce, onion (they ask raw or grilled onion), and sauce. Jones soda is good, but as it is cane sugar the cola tastes different than Coke or Pepsi. Fries were perfect. Value: $15 for the veggie combo does seem a bit much given the small burger, but it is prime real estate being right next to Amazon HQ. I might be back for the fries. read more

If you know me by now I loveee my burgers. I ordered the single burger with a chocolate milkshake and fries. If you like "smashed" burgers then you will like this place. I actually prefer these type of burgers. If you like meat don't worry get two patties. The fries were delicious. The hamburgers were delicious, they were neatly assembled. The flavors of the meat could've been a little tastier, but over it was a great burger to me. The milkshake was perfect for me. i don't normally like to much because it will go to waste or I end of being really full. During lunch time this place is packed. I'm happy to find a "fast food" burger place nearby. The burgers here are far from greasy and oily fast food burgers. I actually thought that these burgers reminded me of home (In N Out). I really enjoyed that the buns were slightly crisp on the outside and I like how everything from here is local and organic. I enjoy places like this because it makes a comforting food better for your body without lacking in flavor. As for the fries, I liked those too. The crinkle cut fries are fun and were perfectly crisp. Overall, I would say that Great State can be pricey for what it is, but if you're looking for a fast burger that's very good, then this is the place. Came here for a quick lunch on Friday. I had heard great things but never been since it's in Seattle. They have 3$ Rainier tall boys, which is awesome to sit out on the patio and drink. I got the double, no tomato of course. They make a really good burger. The patty has the little crispy edges I love so much. Not sure what their secret sauce is but it's really good, especially with the cheese and pickles. I didn't get any fries, but every order of them that walked by me made me wish I did! The burgers are decent here. The menu is a bit limited, but they have all the basics of a burger place. They're known for their quality ingredients and with that comes with a higher price. I thought that the burger was pretty good, but the bun was a bit dry/dense. The crinkle cut fries were nice and crispy. They have Jones soda as well as milkshakes for drinks. You can also get a small cup for water. At the back of the store you can get your drinks & condiments. Utensils are located at the pick up station. The place is pretty spacious. There are a number of booth seats, tables and even outdoor seating. There's even a room off to the side with a large meeting table. However, it becomes pretty packed during the lunch rush. I like that they give you a pager that buzzes you to pick up your order, so you don't have to listen for your name. It also looks like you can place your order online to skip the line! It's very clean inside. The service was friendly and relatively quick, even during the lunch rush. They also have a gender neutral bathroom. read more

Really pains me to say it but Great State has fallen off ever since Sea Creatures took it over. The breakfast sammies, that used to be the BEST in Seattle, now are middling at best. They switched to wrapping them up, instead of the adorable little paper bags they used to come in, which has made the english muffins soggy from all the grease. They also recently changed the burgers, to add in different options and new buns, which makes no sense since they were amazing. I am not a big burger fan but Great State lures me on the regular. I can really only rate their veggie burger which I think is divine with its crispy exterior. The place is clean and bright, the staff at the South Lake Union location is great and keeps a positive vibe even when it is mobbed with Amazonians. The areas of improvement are: (1) orders sometimes take super long (but they also have crazy high demand) and (2) the soda/water balance is inconsistent. We visited from California in Jan 2017 and they were playing the weekends entire brand new album. Now when we hear the weekend we automatically think about this place and our trip. Ordered a single burger with a chocolate malt milkshake. The bun was pretty good, with a crispy buttery crust, but the burger patty itself was pretty flavorless and probably what you'd expect out of any other fast food chain. The American cheese in the burger was also not too great, and I ended up taking most of it out as it left a bit of an unpleasant texture and taste in my mouth. Definitely should have asked for no lettuce as I'm not a fan of the flavor of iceberg lettuce (which is weird to say because it doesn't really have that much flavor, but it's that combo of no flavor with water and crunch that just rubs me the wrong way?). The malt milkshake was literally like trying to drink froyo out of a straw, it was so thick I could barely manage a few sips before I was done trying to drink any more. Brought it home but honestly not sure if I'll be able to finish that thing. But it was definitely a good milkshake! I think Oreo is a flavor of milkshake that I will never tire of and which will always trump any other flavor for me though, and sadly they didn't have that as an option. read more

This burger joint was okay. 3.5 stars. Not the greatest, but it hit the spot. I was walking around all day sunday checking out apartments and had an hour or so break in between appointments. Didn't want to go too far out of the way so this was one of the few places that was open in the immediate area at the time and I really didn't feel like grabbing McDonald's. First thing I noticed when I took a bite was that it was very salty. Tasted like someone totally spaced out and threw a ton of salt on the patty. After a few more bites my taste buds adjusted to the surprise and enjoyed the "flavorful" burger. The fries were perfect - crispy, crunchy, not soggy and not too salty. I might be a little biased since they're crinkle cut. Love the simple menu. Love the bright, clean, spacious decor. Extra points for using all compostable packaging and having a decent sized outside seating area. But since this is a burger joint, I'm putting a lot of weight on the burger and it was not quite 4 stars unfortunately. Definitely not the best burger I've had, but then again we live in a town that practically falls over itself on artisanal renditions of, essentially, fast food (Like seriously, Seattle, chilllllll) Wouldn't go for the burgers alone. They were decent, but needed some kind of kick to them, either a spicy or tangy flavor I'm thinking? I'm not a gourmand chef so I won't embarrass myself by making more specific suggestions. The fries were pretty good on their own, but what really stood out to me was their strawberry milkshake. Now, I know that the strawberries don't come freshly blended (and I even saw the bottle the syrup came from), but oh man, did it taste like real strawberries, with just the right amount of lumpiness and seeds. Wow! Quite surprised by this burger. This destroys Cali Burger. Might be one of the best burgers I've had in my 7 years of living away from In N Out. My wife and I felt like this burger tasted familiar. And my wife having the magical taste buds she does hit it right on the head when she said it tasted like a burger from Del Taco. And this is a GOOD thing. We love the burgers from there when we were younger. Which is weird that a Mexican place would have good burgers but they do. And this was a better version of that. I dropped a star for their lackluster fries and price though. I appreciate the crinkle cut fries but the frozen ones from the store are better than these. No seasoning at all. And $37 for 2 double burgers, 1 kids burger, 3 fries and a tiny drink? Are you kidding me!? I think I figured out where all of Amazon's money is going. Into some odd biodome's across the street for Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin to make another movie in and burgers at this place. It was pretty damn good though.
