I'm a super picky baked goods person because I don't indulge very often so when I do go the sweet treats route I want to fully enjoy my sugar coma. I love this adorable cookie company! I won an Instagram contest they were running and got to take home one of their giant gingerbread men (a $35 value) for free. I exchanged emails with Christina to coordinate when I could pick him up (they need 24 hours notice, since they bake them fresh to order). Christina was incredibly nice and responsive, I felt very well taken care of even though I wasn't paying for the beautiful cookie. I picked up the gingerbread man after work (they are open until 6pm). The shop is very tiny, but it smells sooooo good! And the cookies in the case looked absolutely scrumptious. If I had more time I would have stayed and seen what else they had to offer, but sadly I was in a hurry. They gave me George (the gingerbread man) in a box to keep him safe, with clear instructions to only pick him up by the top and bottom at the same time, because he's a soft cookie that could easily break. Of course the first thing I did was accidentally crack him. But he was still delicious!! Soft, melt-in-your-mouth cookie, decorated adorably with excellent frosting and candy. SO good. These cookies were amazing! I had the opportunity of tasting a few at the small taste of Dallas sample session that they had outside of the WFAA Studios. I was able to try the lemon drop and oatmeal cookie. That lemon drop was amazing and it still has my mouth watering! WOW! I finally stopped in here yesterday afternoon after months of trying to resist. I started following them on instagram and needless to say, their photos don't allow for very much resistance! They were about to close when I popped in but still had a nice selection of cookies. I grabbed a half dozen to take into the office and ended up trying a bite of all of them. I wasn't particularly a fan of the shortbread but with all of the other ones being SO incredible, who cares? Peanut butter pretzel was amazing as was the traditional chocolate chip. The clear winner in my opinion is their cranberry white chocolate. OH MY GOD. It is by far the best cookie I've ever had. I am giving a 3 to 3.5 It is hard to find Great One Cookie it is in a little shopping nook behind a bar. You could easily pass this place if you were not looking really hard for it. That being said the cookie was good but not great. .The cookie looks dry and first glance but it is decieving. It was thick but moist with a slight crunch, I would eat these cookies again however, they are pricey. This would be a deterrant for me. $ 2,00 for one cookie seems a bit steep for a medium size cookie that did not blow my socks off. I must say that I'm a cookie lover and I'm really picky when it comes to eating them. These have the best texture, soft but no too soft to break, and perfectly moist. The chocolate chip cookie was my favorite, it made me happy from beginning to end. It had lots of chocolate chunks and I had it warmed..so you can imagine how delicious it was. The lemon drop was great too!! It's has the perfect mix between citric and sweetness. I also tried the cookie of the month which was cookies and cream, it was really good as well, but I would definitely go with the chocolate chip one! THE BEST cookie in Dallas! The cookies are so much larger than anything else I've found for a similar price and you can really tell they use high quality ingredients. I've come back to them for some work and personal events and they've been great to work with every time. They ran out of the flavors that I wanted though so Pam gave our tour guide some coupons to hand out on the bus, which were never handed out. After contacting Pam via email, she advised that she would honor the coupon price (BOGO) or would offer the 3 for $5 price that she gave our group. I can't wait to get back into that part of town (it's pretty far away for me since I live in Carrollton) but those cookies are TO DIE FOR. While closely located to one another, each of these three cookie shops has a totally different vibe. Known for their award winning Chocolate Chip cookies, Toni Rivard's Creme de la Cookie is a more comprehensive bakery, and I imagine they even do far more business on cake balls, cupcakes and other delicacies than they do on cookies. CC definitely aims for the more gourmet atmosphere that I have no doubt brings in the Highland Park moms and Louie V yielding SMU students by the droves, but I won't say for a second that it's a bad thing. JD's Chippery and Great One Cookie Co on the other hand are strictly cookie spots, although even between the two there's a different vibe. JD's has been here for more than 30 years, and in every way they've become part of the community as a mom and pop cookie shop. Great One Cookie Co on the other hand is more of a newcomer, and Pam Denesuk's small but modern storefront will have you feeling like you've truly found a hidden gem in the city with the names of cookies simply displayed with the actual wares hidden in the back. Single Star / Single Star / Single Star Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Another point of diversity amongst these three cookie shops related to both price and portion size. Here's a breakdown - Creme de la Cookie: Average price of $1.20 per cookie JD's Chippery: Average price of $0.75 per cookie Great One Cookie Company: Average price of $2.00 per cookie You can browse my pictures if you like to get a sense for the size of each shop's cookie, and depending on which review you're reading you'll see one grouping of the three depicted below, but for reference Creme de la Cookie and Great One Cookie Company both had what I would call standard sized cookies whereas JD's had slightly smaller cookies. The portion size between JD's and the others is reflected in the price, but Great One Cookie Company was a real outlier with prices that were nearly twice that of portion similar Creme de la Cookie. Worth it? I suppose that depends, but it's certainly worth pointing out. Single Star / Single Star / Single Star Stars 3 and 4: How was the food (or in this case, the cookies)? Let's not kid ourselves here: The Chocolate Chip Cookie is the rightful benchmark for how all cookies should be measured, so for this dual star category I decided to dish out one star for the Chocolate Chip cookie alone and a second based on the others. With respect to the first star, this was essentially a runaway victory for JD's Chippery for two reasons. First and foremost, call me crazy, but I like my cookies to have a slightly crunchy outside and a soft inside, and that's exactly what JD's Chocolate Chip cookies had. My Creme de la Chocolate Chip Cookie was soft with the upside of having the chocolate chips essentially melted into the rest of the cookie, but the lack of a crunch left me a tad bit unsatisfied. Great One's chocolate chip cookie was soft to the point of having me wondering whether or not it was cooked all the way through, but this was made up for by having a seriously absurd quantity of chocolate chips. The second reason behind my thinking that JD's Chocolate Chip cookies claimed the category came down to the cookie ex-Chocolate Chips, where JD's had an absolutely delicious unique flavor that I can't quite place whereas CC and GO were more plain if you go a bite without any chocolate chips. With the second star in mind, JD's once again claimed a crown of sorts thanks to their cinnamon packed Snickerdoodle that also packed a crunch when compared to the softer and more mildly flavored doodles from Creme and Great One. One thing I will point out is that the Ginger Snap at Creme de la Cookie was fantastic, and the Peanut Butter Pretzel Chocolate Chip offering at Great One should be sampled by all cookie enthusiasts. Single Star / Dual Stars / Single Star Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? So there you have it folks. Again, everyone has their preferences when it comes to cookies, and my preferences line up best with JD's for the reasons I've stated above. 5 Stars to JD's Chippery, 3 stars to the rest. Visiting Dallas over the weekend and the mother-in-law always likes to purchase and serve decadent snackies from all the hip bakeries around town. This time the chosen dessert was cookies from "Great One Cookie Company". At first I thought she was saying cookies from Great American Cookie Company (you know...the chain cookie place you find in malls) and I was kind of perplexed why she was so proud of bringing chain cookies home but once I saw the cookies and packaging then tasted them I must say......these aren't no mall cookies! I am a fan. Not so much of the plain chocolate chip cookies (they're pretty good just not knock your socks off good) but the chocolate and peppermint cookies, *YUM*. Very deserving of a 5 star review in my opinion. :) The cookies themselves are very large and have a distinctive homemade taste. They didn't taste mass produced and were, of course, fresh and tasty. Imagine how busy this place would be if it were located somewhere that people could actually see it. At the moment, it is wedged between Brian's Wine and Two Sisters Catering Company. It is super small inside and there is limited parking so come during the weekdays when it is less busy. Pros: The cookies are big. They are made from scratch on a daily basis. They melt in your mouth. There are different cookies to choose from. Cons: Way expensive. Bad business hours. I would recommend this place if you are in the area. The chocolate chip and pecan cookie was my favorite of them all. The cookie was baked with just the right amount of time, making it my favorite of the three.
