First, In my 34 years of living I have never paid $30 for a nail take off only to be soaked off that's crazy and robbery I've always paid no more than $15. Long-standing customer for over 7+ years but won't be back! My powder dip nails (a normally very strong & durable nail treatment) lifted and cracked after 11 days. I convinced Davis to fix them, as another operator rudely spoke about me in Vietnamese and told me "not to come back". David did not have an answer for the occurrence but agreed to my proposal to split the cost to redo my nails, fair enough right?! Weeks later the same thing happened. I called for an appointment and was shocked to again be treated so rudely but this time by David who in short hung up on me twice! All in all, I suspect a "change" has been made to the fixative causing these issues. For sure, the next salon I visit I expect to see new bottles of the product at some point! read more

I went in for a gel manicure and will never return! To remove my old gel, the nail tech had me soak my nails in acetone, which seemed standard at first. But then I saw something alarming. After I finished soaking, the tech poured the used acetone through a strainer and back into the gallon of acetone they use for other customers! This means they are reusing contaminated acetone for multiple people. This is incredibly unsanitary and a health risk--think about any small cuts or scrapes on your hands and the germs, debris, or even blood from previous clients being recycled into the same solution. I was horrified and felt sick to my stomach afterward. I will never go back and strongly caution others against going here. read more

I absolutely love this place. Its super clean and friendly. In my experience Lyn does the best full set, she takes her time (not too long) and sculpts each nail beautifully, she applies the color just right and cleans up around the cuticle. If Lyn is not available I go to Kim, she is just as good, just not as great with the amount of acrylic she applies. For my pedicure it has to be Helen. I am not a fan of my feet so I only get pedicures now and then. Helen scrubs my feet back to their baby softness. She's absolutely awesome. For eyebrows and chin I defer back to Lyn. Amy was awesome! Yesterday was my first time going to Great nails and I can honestly say that I won't be going anywhere else. I recently stopped getting acrylic on my nails and she actually told me how to take care of them. She recommended that I get silk wraps to protect my nails from breaking, instead of telling me that I need acrylic - like most of them do. She kept telling the technician that they were not right. So they wouldn't give up anything off they charged her friend 118.00 and my daughter 123.00 they both got the same thing. I could hardly enjoy my super fantastic spa pedicure because I was thinking about what I was going to say in my yelp. But Great Nails might be suffering from a little bit of delusions of Grandeur. They are maybe pretty good nails. Or OK nails. Guess those names were already taken. At any rate... Whenever I get my first pedicure of the season (especially after this hard winter) I have this vision of Ninjas coming out of nowhere, engaging in a sword fight right in the middle of the nail shop, during which none of the clients or staff flinches, business carries on as usual, and yet the Ninjas somehow notice my feet. With clinical precision they slice off all of the rough spots from my feet then continue their swordfight into the darkness. Ninja swordfight didn't happen here at Great Nails. But the rough spots were removed from the soles of my feet. Get the spa pedicure here. It costs more, but as Kortney, the lady in the massage chair next to mine, says, it is SO worh it. In addition to all the processes they do in the regular pedi, they also use a sea salt scrub, then they do a hot rock foot massage; followed by a dip in parrafin wax and calves wrapped in hot towels. Mmm. Good stuff. Now polish the toesies pink and we're good. Not so fast partner. The spa manicure. Hmmm.. It is not really that worth it unless you just have some extra duckets to blow. Same hot stone, parrafin, scrub deal. BUT I left there with more hang nails than I had when I went in. I think I was so distracted or so lulled into submission by the forearm massage that I forgot to get on "Tina" about the junky ass cuticle job she had done. Oh well. Better luck next time. I'll be back to this shop. I'll give it one more try. At the beginning of the day, rather than the end, so I can bask in the shiny, soft glow of my spa pedicure all day instead of just going straight home to bed. Oh well. read more

My feet were looking very sad so I moseyed over to Great Nails, which is very close to my house. Figured I'd give it a shot. There was no wait time, which was nice. The owner was very friendly and brought me a stack of about 12 magazines. So far so good. The guy who did the pedicure was nice, very quiet. I went for the "organic spa pedicure" for $45, thinking as I chose it that I should've just gone with the "special pedicure" for $35 and that I'm a sucker for choosing it just because it's "organic"....but whatever. The chairs here were massage chairs, which sounds like a plus, but I'm super short and I think they were made for taller people. It just felt awkward and uncomfortable. The pedicure itself was ok but not amazing. He didn't do a very thorough job of getting my calluses, unlike others I've had in the past. Overall just an ok experience. I really like their spa pedicure & manicure -and now their Eyelash Extensions at Great Nails and I've been coming here for many years. I'm very specific as to how I prefer my nails to look like whenever I get the gels or acrylics, and they have always done a great job. I'm also happy with their Galvanic Spa facial -which tightens & firms up my skin. I recommend this treatment on a monthly basis. My mother also loves it because it looks like a temporary "facial lift." Today, I decided to try out their Eyelash extensions, and I am very pleased with the beautiful results -done by Jessica (owner's wife). I will report how long these individual lashes will last... They look so natural (and extra long), so my mother will get them next week for her birthday! I've found out that it's best to specify exactly what you want at the time that you schedule your appointment or on arrival and directly with their manager, David -who in turn, always does his best to make sure you are pleased with their service. read more

Yeah, not so much. I went in to get a gel manicure and came out with nail polish gluing my nails to my nail beds. I know the whole gel manicure thing is new but the woman who did mine seemed positively annoyed that I was getting something out of the ordinary and kept sighing the whole time. I realize that strip mall nail salons have become the new Vietnamese sweat shops and I am sorry about that but...really? Also, while I realize it is routine to up-sell services, I really did not need or want the eyebrow wax that was offered at least four times during the manicure. I think one "no thanks" is enough but the woman made me feel like my eyebrows were threatening to grow down my face and become a f'*king beard at any moment the way she was insisting. After running out to my car post-manicure to see if some horrible hormonal event had caused my eyebrows to grow wildly in the 45 minutes the manicure took and saw that they had not....well, I was even more ticked off at the insistence. Don't come here if you want *GEL* nails or thorough service. I'm not crazy anal about my nails but I do expect to get what I pay for. This nail salon, like many others, tries to pass acrylic powder for gel. They use a "like gel" powder that IS NOT GEL, it is acrylic - maybe more expensive than the basic acrylic, but still, it's not gel. UV Gel nails DO NOT use a liquid (monomer) and powder to coat your nails. Actual gel looks exactly like its name, it looks like gel and is often clear - but the average customer would not know this without researching - which I ended up doing after my last visit (which was also my first time getting gel). This salon charges you as if they're using a gel base or refill however, they're using a cheaper "like gel" acrylic and coating it with a gel polish. At a rate of almost double, you shouldn't be paying more just to have only a gel polish and not actual gel base!!! If you go here for gel nails, be sure to specify that you want CLEAR GEL NAILS, NOT POWDER "LIKE GEL." On top of this, the polish was sloppy. The tech didn't even push back my cuticles or clean up the polish around them when she was done - I went home and did it myself. I've been to this salon multiple times out of convenience because it's the one nearest to my house however, every single time, I've been disappointed by the service.
