I was super relaxed, and so very happy that she made the perfect French nail tips for my fingers and toes. At the end, when my nails were drying, Holly just made my day. During my first appointment, I asked to have my cuticles cut. The tech told me he would take care of it with the drill after the dip was applied but it never happened. When I returned for my second visit, the same tech did my nails again and told me the previous person should've cut my cuticles... even though he was the one who did them last time. The actual service wasn't any better. I requested an almond shape, and he just filed my nails to the point where it was painful. The drill hurt and the shaping was uneven. I also felt over charged for what should have been a simple fill. Within a few days, my nails started lifting and even getting caught in my hair. Not only is that frustrating it's a sign of poor application. They already look terrible, and it hasn't even been a week. Overall, I had an awful experience here. Came back for a second try as I enjoyed the first time I came but after this experience I will not be back. During my pedicure the nail tech scraped off a good amount of skin on my toe and I understand accidents happen. She continued the pedicure which I was okay with. She did apologize a few times but it kept bleeding too. I will never spend another penny here! From my experience, they don't stand on their craft! They are overpriced for the low quality work they do! I got French tip gold chrome .. this was also a fill. You can see bubbles on the chrome tips, the tips are crooked, and on my left hand .. the tips are thicker than my right! A complete waste of money and time!! If I could give zero stars I would I didn't want to waste my time writing a review but now I got too. Took me and my daughter for mani and pedi yesterday, obviously they finished my daughters mani/ pedi before finishing my pedicure. I asked if I could come back in morning because I didn't want my daughter to wait while I had my nails done also we were both getting hungry it was close to closing time. One of the ladies turns to my daughter and say just sit it's ok you be ok. I told her we were hungry and had to leave. She told me to go eat and come back I told them it was close to their closing time and I'm not sure if I would make it back in time she insisted that I come back any way they would wait for me . So out of stupidity I returned the woman rushed and gave me a terrible set I paid 150 I come back to day and respectfully ask if this could be fixed. They all were busy with clients so I said I would go to heb and come back and she talking about they will be closed . They just want your money and have no integrity in their work or service. If your looking for quality service this is not the place. And the gel polish on my pinky toe came off. So I went twice this week. First time I went was on a Wednesday. She was nice at first but when I didn't like the shape she literally handed me the file. I finished filing myself and applied cuticle oil to myself. (I'm offended at this point) I still tip 20% and move on. Move on to Friday and a nail pops off. I had planned on letting the bad set go and not coming back but I had to get it fixed since I'm in the beauty industry. The owner fixed them and was perfect. Worst manicure I've ever received. 1. The technician was so extremely abrasive she literally sliced open the tip of my finger with the emery board. The emery board. That's how abrasive and rough she was. She didn't clean it, but instead she quickly applied superglue to it before I had a chance to say anything. 2. The water for soaking my nails was cold. 3. It was obvious I had dirt under my nails and that was not cleaned out. 4. Polish on my skin around my nails was not cleaned up. 5. She filied my nails further after top coats were applied, leaving my nails jagged and chipped. 6. The lotion "massage" was her squirting lotion on my arms and leaving it on there letting it roll off my arms while she did the post-top coat filing. The "massage" was rubbing lotion on my skin, rotating my hand and then moving to my left arm. At this point she could tell I was extremely upset and tried doing more massage on my left arm but it was still rushed and abrasive. The overall experience was awful. She was so rough and fast that I can honestly say it was the worst manicure and nail salon experience I've ever had. I absolutely will not be back. read more

Yesterday March 17, 2021 I made an appointment for my mom for a mani and pedi gel, well my mom left super upset! The nails where cut all crooked, the paint job was horrible un even, chunky on certain parts missing color and it had little bubbles! I called them to let them know my mom was upset of how bad of a job they did, I talked to Kim, she told me my mom could come back the next day to get it fix well my mom calls me upset again March 18, 2021 and they had to grind thinly her nails to remove the polish, there is no need for that since it's Gel NOT acrylic or SNS they ruined her nails not only that they where annoyed with her very impatient even tho they where the ones who did a horrible job and they made my mom feel so uncomfortable and got her upset.. The staff was rude. The place was filthy. There were no prices posted anywhere. They DESTROYED my nails. Literally, I had to ask them NOT to buff or use a full file to my nails. It was a disaster. Three women attended to my basic manicure, because I kept telling them the way they were doing it they were hurting me/destroying my nails. What a terrible experience! My nails are destroyed. My *basic* manicure looked like a 5 year old did it. Ridges, chips, waves in the polish. What a joke. The most foul and unsanitary thing is that no one CLEANED THEIR INSTRUMENTS. I have never been to a salon that let me walked out with bubbles on my nails. I could have done better by myself. I love this place, they are affordable and quick. I come off and on and they always remember me and how I like my nails. If my gel polish chips or peels within a few days they happily fix it. I tried the newest gel polish on top of my sns and it peeled. I've never had gel peel off my sns so I'm 100 percent sure it was the brand of polish and not the techs. Everyone has been very welcoming and greeting. I stopped in before closing recently and they stayed late to fit me in. This was my first time here. I was over charged for a poor quality nail job. The whole time my nails were being done the tech kept asking if I wanted a pedicure or my eyebrows done or if I wanted powder dip. I responded no thank you each time she asked. Then she showed me the color to choose from. I picked my color and when I went to pay I noticed I was charged extra. I asked her why and she said because it was gel polish. I was not asked if I wanted gel. My polish was very sloppy and there was acrylic all over my hand. I feel they try to trick and upsell you on everything for a poor quality job. My partner and I have been to the S Austin location of Great Nails many times with friends and have always been happy. We thought we'd try this one as it's close to home and we needed to get mani-pedis done before a trip. He got a regular mani and spa pedi and I went all out with SNS dipped nails on my mani and a gel pedi -- all with a metallic color that was an additional upcharge. The luxe treatment was great, but the end results? Not so much. My toes looked pretty good, but my fingers were super-thick, and the color looked like it was sort of bleeding at the tips. I also didn't get the massage on the mani. Whatever, I was out of time. Fast-forward, on vacation, a WEEK later. I've had to superglue two fingernails back on and one of the toenails is starting to lift. By the time I'm on the flight back, almost all the fingernails have edges lifting and about 1/3 of the toes have pieces of the edges missing. This is the worst gel experience I've had (and I have had others in Austin), and I won't be back. For what it's worth, my partner's toes (regular polish) do still look good. So maybe if you're looking for a standard pedi, it's a win, but if you want gels? You might want to look elsewhere. read more

This is a really good place to do your nails! & I just recently started going here because it's less than a mile from my house, and it stays open until 7:30pm!! Well- I actually learned that it stayed open this late when I showed up around 6:40pm to get my feet & nails done yesterday- on a Friday.. I will tell you upfront that the service you get truly depends on who you work with. Over the last 2 years, I've had my eyebrows waxed and pedicures done here. In general, I have had positive experiences. I worked with Moon and Swan before and both were really good. There are also a few other technicians that do a great job with pedicures and eyebrow waxing too, but unfortunately, I can't remember their names. As aside, I think it's important to understand this when it comes to customer service, individuals that pay more for deluxe services, solar nails, etc typically will have better service. This is because the more often a technician services an individual with upgraded services, the technician will receive better pay. Technicians only get a portion of the cost of the service since part of the service cost goes to the individual who owns the nail salon. Thus, technicians really want you to upgrade your services. This isn't a bad thing, it's just the reality of people needing to also make an income to live. In general, if you come on a weekday, there is less of wait to get your nails done. If you tip, MAKE SURE TO TIP IN CASH TOO. If I remember correctly, I believe that only cash tips fully go to the technician that works with you. The majority of my pedicures have turned out well and lasted at least 3 weeks. Some individuals are more chatty and friendlier than others, but I come here to make sure I get my nails done well. Overall, good service for a reasonable price and make sure to tip in cash. read more
