Unexpectedly found myself in the Tri-Cities recently and was delighted to see that a location of Great Harvest Bread Co. had opened here in this vast food desert. While in general I'm not a fan of chains, Great Harvest has always been an exception. The brownies are absolutely amazing (and be sure to try to come at the end of the day like I did when they're buy one, get one free!). I also tried the Savory Herb and the Cinnamon Burst breads, and my friends and I were fighting over them like wolves. I live in Seattle and frequent the Ballard location often, but it's nice to know that if I find myself in the Tri-Cities again in the future, there's a place to get great bread and pastries. To the reviewer who compared the breads here to store bought bread, a visit to the doctor is in order as I think radiation from Hanford has affected your taste buds! Great bakery items. Not a big sandwich selection. Very confusing ordering and paying process when busy. Lines are formed everywhere. So it seams to order sandwich at glass counter and then pay at the "pay sign". Or just form a line anywhere... read more

New sandwich menu in March? Don't get rid of the roast beef sandwich or you will see the business end of a bakery hissy-fit. Okay... I will get over it if you do. Cant say enough about this place! First of all they could be throwing a hockey puck at you and they would STILL make you feel good because the staff serves you like they want to be there (which is a lot to ask these days!) Also with samples of everything there shouldn't be a surprise as to the quality you are getting. Finally the sandwiches are crafted with as much care as a "fresh bread sandwich" should. Lots of bakeries that offer sandwiches take the attitude: "well the bread is fresh so since all of the focus will be on that, throw on whatever and customers will love it." WRONG! I love the coconut pinapple muffins and the bread pudding is to die for. I have enjoyed all my sandwiches I've gotten there. The smell alone is like heaven. The staff is always nice and friendly. My mom and I went here for lunch because we've always purchased bread from them and the bread has always been great.... However, the sandwiches were less than great, somewhat of a disappointment. Free sample was the best part. After you order, the experience goes downhill. The fresh bread used to make the sandwich I ordered was very dry. Bread was no better than store bought week old sandwich bread. Visited store with three other people. Not one of us had anything good to say about the bread. Service was personable and people working there were nice. Most types of bread were not available. Most kinds out of stock - it was 1:30pm. Can't sell product if you don't have any. The best general bakery in the Tri-Cities, WA, hands down. They have a wide range of breads baked with whole wheat flour, you can sample anything that's on the shelf that day, they serve delicious soups and sandwiches, they make the best brownies in town (get the ones with walnuts), and selected goodies (muffins, cinnamon rolls, fruit tarts, scones) are always good, and the staff are invariably helpful and pleasant. I have visited maybe a dozen times in the past year. Once at Thanksgiving for dinner rolls - they were very heavy and not real tasty, very disappointing. Since then, I have found fresh baked goods are generally not ready until closer to 10 in the morning - meaning you cannot stop in for fresh bread or cinnamon rolls on the way to the office. Their cinnamon rolls have a great flavor and amazing frosting, but are never fully cooked (still doughy in the middle). Same for the cinnamon pull-apart bread. They do not offer any scones without cream cheese filling, and that ruins the scone for me. The bread is over-priced and not very tasty. Cookies and brownies are good, but not worth the price. read more

Oh my! This place was amazing. Customer service rocked! They gave me extra cream cheese and heated up my cinnamon roll for me. I didn't even know those were options!!! Ok, so I like to come here to buy gifts for friends and a little something for myself. I haven't tried their meals, just the breads and sweets. I'm a little confused because GH is a franchise and as I understand it, they are bound to follow the recipes in each franchise to a tee and basically make the same things all over where ever theres a GH you should be able to expect the same things in every shop. This GH has more things and make things differently from the others I've visited in other states. Like this one makes cinnamon rolls with nuts and raisins and with the frosting already applied. I've never been to a GH until now, where they add nuts and raisin and with the frosting already applied. I for one do not eat nuts and raisins and frosting on my roll and would like to have that option. This GH doesn't make peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, why? But they do make cupcakes. Red Velvet once when I came in. That was awesome. The breads and the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies do not taste like the other GHs I've been to either. There are a few other items here that I've never seen in other GH, but it's welcomed and I'm hoping the other GH will soon follow this ones lead. I am always pleasantly surprised and pleased with the staff who are always welcoming and friendly. read more

I finally was able to stop by, And was very impressed they had some bread samples I had the Popeye bread and had to have it on my sandwich. I had the chimichurii roast beef sandwich on the Popeye bread. And I loved it. I will be coming here when ever I can. read more

I seriously just had the best cinnamon roll of my life. Two of us split it, and still left some on the plate. Reasonably priced, and delicious. They also give you a free cup of extra frosting. The coffee is roasters and is good too. read more

I love this place, everything is home made and tastes great! The reason for the 4 stars is because their hours aren't great and it seems anytime I go in they are sold out of their soup. I wish they would start making more, at least enough to sell throughout the few hours they are actually open. read more

I was not impressed with the food or the service. My husband and I went there today and my food came out cold and the lady making our food kept eating pieces of bread and cheese while she was making our food. She continued to do this while making other customers food as well. Then when we left there was no one left in the store and the 3 workers sat there chatting and eating the samples and did not say anything. I will never go back. read more

I am unclear in the exact number of stars and here's why. I've been buying their bread for a couple of years now and always loved the fact that these are heavy, hardy, loaves of bread, no matter what you ordered. No Wonder Bread here that's for sure. The problem has come in the fact that with many of the loaves only about 75% if the loaf is actually useable as bread. By that I mean when I get a few slices in, the top of the slices are falling off, leaving me with a partial slice of bread. And this persists through a significant portion of the loaf. At $6-$7 a loaf, this is unacceptable I'm afraid. And so, reluctantly, I no longer buy their bread to make sandwiches with. Some of the breads like the delicious Popeye bread or garlic cheddar bread or monkey bread work just fine and I will buy these on occasion. But for sandwich bread, caveat emptor,! sorry to say. read more

I ordered a 1/2 sandwich along with soup, it was 11:25 a.m. The bread was very dry, had to take a drink of water after every bite! The soup did not come with my order, they said it wasn't ready that it would be 5 minutes. The soup came 20 minutes later, I ask for some soda crackers to go with, they didn't have any. My husband order a tuna fish sandwich, it was the dark tuna, not albacore, you had to look for the tuna, hardly any was on the sandwich! We both got desserts, they put them in a paper bag even though we were eating them there, we ask for plates to put them on, they didn't have any. I am a huge fan of the Great Harvest Bread Company chain. The bread is almost always delicious. However, I will not be visiting this location again due to the terrible customer service I received today around 12:30pm. Business was brisk, and the gal handing out bread samples was chatting at length with another customer who happened to be a friend. I could tell by the nature of their LONG conversation that these two were close. The conversation was about this family member enjoying that school experience and that family member's blah blah blah. Truly inappropriate given the length of the line just for samples. After getting a sample, I moved up to wait in the line. Waited, and waited as several employees allowed just one gal to work the register. Then the gal handing out samples came up to help, and who should she move to the front of the line in front of four people? Her chatty friend. So rude. The rest of us are waiting in line patiently while you serve your friend? When I got to the front of the line I asked this employee why she thought it was appropriate to serve her friend first? She replied "Oh I didn't realize there was a line of people." Really? We are all crowded up here waiting, hanging around the register for the fun of it? I remarked that she knew as did her friend that there was indeed a line. My four year old daughter even said "that lady just cut in front of all of us." So I won't be returning to this location. As I finished my purchase, which I probably should not have purchased anything at this point but I told my daughter I would, the gal added a snarky, "well I'm sorry that was your experience." Really? So ridiculous. I'm sorry you can't muster up a sincere apology for your rudeness. I might stop by for a free slice of bread but I don't plan to make any purchases. read more

Ordered 3 dozen dinner roll to be picked up the day before thankgiving about a week ago. They had sold my order and with a smile gave me a oops. Offered me other kinds of rolls full price. Not what I ordered. I don't trust them for any special order I need now. That was a pain to get rolls at the last minute after I thought I had it covered. read more

This place is great for lunch. I had a seasonal turkey sandwich and some of their tomato basil soup, which was excellent. Prices feel a little steep, but everything is made fresh there so it was worth it. I loved how they gave us a (very generous sized) sample bread slice. read more

I have gone a couple times and fallen in love with two of the breads which had me keep coming back. Two times ago I went and had horrible service the lady at the front not only wouldn't explain why I couldn't have this bread she wouldn't talk to me and smiled when I walked out of the store. When I called to ask for a manager they had me on hold then hung up. That was a couple months ago so I decided to go today, my boyfriend went in for me and two ladies that were so rude and finally told him he could only have wheat or white bread. So he walked out. Crazy busy; course my friend and I came during the lunch hour - 12:34 pm on 5/20/16 - the line was all the way to the door. The smell of fresh bread was amazing. The ordering is a great idea and for the most part seemed to work. My friend and I gave our order, we each got a 1/2 sandwich, a cookie and the Classic Basket at 49.00. Total w/ tax $67.24. My friend noticed the punch card - sadly we couldn't collect on that due to each of us only ordered 1/2 sandwich's. Which is stupid, in my opinion. For shit sake my total was 67.24!!! We sat down and waited, w/in maybe 10 minutes we received our food, we noticed a family of 5; that were seated before us, still hadn't received their food. Finally she received her order, and the young girl kept saying "I apologize for the delay and this is what happened blah blah blah" my opinion is the girl should have said "I am SORRY, your lunch is on us" OR "I am SORRY, please come pick out a loaf of bread OR a pie" OR she could have brought them a bag of cookies. I've worked for over 30 years in the customer service industry - customers don't need to hear excuses - just make them HAPPY. Everyone knows, bad experiences spread like wild fire! Our food was good and the basket was amazing. Food gets 4 stars and customer service gets 1 star. read more

Great Harvest makes some tasty breads and sandwiches. The staff is friendly, and I love the bread samples when you walk in. Both of their veggie sandwich options are delicious and hearty. They tempt you with their dessert selection, but so far I have resisted. They also offer a loyalty card, so I look forward to earning my free loaf of bread! read more

Best bakery in the Tri-Cities! The bread is AMAZING. Always fresh, moist, and flavorful. And the atmosphere is just so fun and upbeat, you can really tell all the employees love to work there, which doesn't happen very often nowadays. I'm always cheerfully offered a generous slice of warm bread when I first walk in. Their sandwiches and other baked goods are great as well (the cinnamon rolls are to die for oh my gosh).
