Asked the register lady if they had found a phone and they said no so I pinged it again and it rang behind the counter and they acted surprised like oh is this the phone. All I can do is speak from my own experience. Overall they were nice and the cake was done pretty decently. The baker did a good job. The process however was difficult. The person on the phone hardly understood any English. And I had to describe what I was trying to say over and over, even spell it out. Literally. And the person talking seemed like she didn't know her job very well or didn't know quite what was going on. It was kind of a frustrating process. Wow...This bakery blew my mind. I encourage everyone who has never experienced a family owned bakery to visit Viera's bakery in downtown Pasco, Washington. They do so much foot traffic that seating is limited. There is a cool viewing window where you and the kids, with a hoist from mom or dad, can watch the bakery staff preparing the next round of delicious treats. It used to be really good when it first opened in downtown pasco. Now it's only some bread that' I go for. A lot of the bread has the same flavoring. It's not the small mom and pop it uses to be. Went here just before 9pm on a Wednesday evening after dinner at nearby Mi Hacienda, and was surprised to see a line of people in the panaderia (aka bakery). Everyone had some tongs and a tray (most filled w/ baked goodies). In the middle of the floor, there were racks at which everybody had been picking and choosing. I'm assuming these were freshly-baked items. They had lots of sweet stuff (think churros, donuts, cake, etc.), but also I saw some empanadas as well. I thought freshly-baked stuff was produced in the morning---hmmm.... Oh, as I walked to the panaderia, I saw bakers through the window going at it, concocting all kinds of Mexican baked goods. I ended up getting a cookie and a twisted churro thingie with red icing stuff. They were good. They weren't overwhelming in sweetness. They were nice. This was a good introduction to a popular panaderia. Oh, this panaderia is just down the street from where the Pasco Farmer's Market is. You know, I'm not sure how to rate this place because I'm not going to lie, I didn't love you. But the thing is, I can't help but think that it's not you, it's me. You see, I've been to many a panaderia all along the west coast. I've even visited your brethren in Colorado, Texas and no matter how well you guys are rated, I always leave disappointed. Perhaps I feel that the only "real" pastries on this planet are French-influenced. I guess my palate is just set that way. Still, your selection is amazing and you served me the only non-fresh churro in Pasco that I found to be edible. In fact, after eating it, I wished that I bought only churros. Instead, I also bought a cajeta empanada which was filled with a cajeta that was grainy and crystallized. This wasn't the cajeta that I was used to. I also purchased a molasses bread because it was right out of the oven. As delicate and dangerously hot it was, I figured that if I didn't like a fresh-baked item, then we simply had no chance. One bite and I had to declare that it wasn't worth the calories. Sigh... Happiness is getting one of those round silver-toned trays and a pair of tongs and getting your pick of items at a panaderia. I haven't been to one since I left Chicago, so this was a real treat. The creamy stuff like tres leches and flan was behind the counter, so I helped myself to a concha de mantequilla. It was practically as big as my face. I gave away my ignorance when I fished two dollar bills out of my purse to pay. The concha was only 35 cents. What a steal! Note: on second thought, the concha was only worth 35 cents. I ordered my wedding cake from Viera's. They told me they could do fondant, and when I showed them the photo of the cake I wanted they said it would be easy to do. The day of my wedding the cake arrived with several huge cracks in the fondant and was horribly lopsided. To make matters worse when we cut into the TWO AND A HALF inch tick "frosting" the cake inside was nothing but crumbs and was 100% inedible. I took a sample of the cake to Viera's the following day. They said they could only refund me 15% of the cost ($700), because they, "Needed to cover the cost to make the cake." I was devastated. DO NOT order your wedding cakes from here. Viera's destroyed one of the most important moments of my life, then refused to make it right by offering a refund. read more

When we walked in, it felt like the part in Muppet Treasure Island where the characters find the treasure trove and dance around throwing gold doubloons like confetti, all in slow motion. There were wonderful baked goods everywhere, almost waiting for you to jump in as if into a ball pit. Everything we got was delicious. I ate one of the pastry-looking things with a red filling (red is a fruit, right?) for breakfast with a cup of cafe Cubano...it was sweet, flakey goodness. Omyyyyy we stopped by this place as we were leaving the Pasco Farmer's Market. It smelled like heaven in there. We know the goods will be fresh here. The showstopper for me was a gigantic donut sprinkled with sugar. It looked just like the ones they would make back home (in Asia). Had to try and it was delicious!!!! Even better!!! We picked up a lot more other yummy dessert/ sweet items. They also have savory goods like ham and cheese croissants.
