Oh I wanted to love this place so much. Their website leads you to believe that they would have amazing lunch food. We walked in... looks like a dingy little grocery store, no one greeted us. finally someone came from the back. they have like four tables behind a grocer shelf as a wall. We opted not to eat linch but I ordered two large pieces of pistachio baklava. it was mediocre at best. The guy that served us needed a shower bad. read more

Discover this place from Yelp. As soon as you walk in, we were greeted with a smile. There is a small dining area to the left and we were seated at a small table. After checking out the menu, husband ordered a gyro and I ordered the mushroom spinach pizza. We started the meal with hummus and pita bread. The hummus came out quickly and was topped with fresh herbs and tomatoes and olives. Very good and creamy. The gyro was huge! Could have easily shared it but husband accepted the challenge and enjoyed every bite. The pizza was also larger than expected, fresh and flavorful. We needed up taking home the rest for lunch. The service was fast and friendly and we ended our visit with a walk through the store. We needed up buying fresh pita bread, baklava from the case, and mango sauce that we had tried out at the table and enjoyed with the meal. Great discovery, will be back! read more

The desserts were top notch and exactly what I was looking for in a sweet treat. I unfortunately didn't get to eat actual food, but I did grab a couple things from the store. It's a grocery store full of Middle East imports spices oils sweets too many different things to name. Also a sit down place for amazing flatbread ZATAR--so good made piping hot to order. Hummus and Babaganoush are amazing and creamy! Turkish delight in a myriad of flavors as welllnas the most baklava I have ever seen in one place! Great place to stop by for lunch. For just $7.99, I was able to get a 12 inch pizza (flatbread) with spinach and mushrooms. The mozzarella cheese they use is flavorful and complements the veggies well. It came out fairly quickly too, at around 10 minutes. The server was very friendly and offered to bring me hot sauce. It was an Iraqi hot sauce, which was quite interesting to try, though I ultimately felt the pizza was better without it. On a whim, I decided to grab some baklava to try. For me, it was too sweet and overly soaked in the simple syrup. Just not for me. But I'd come back for more pizza, and I may try some other stuff too. read more

I stopped in this bakery right after they opened to have a look around, they have a wonderful assortment of baklava. I received a phone text on their special last weekend and thought what a great opportunity to support this new business. I tried their buy 2 pizza's and get one free. The mushroom and cheese pizza was our favorite, although they said individual size the pizzas were 12 inches so a good size individual pizza. The restaurant is clean and they have improved the menu since my last visit. My disappointment came when I went to pay. I had ordered the pizza's at the counter and waited in a chair (counter service). When I approached the counter to pay the lady flipped the screen around which in big letters asked if I wanted to tip 18, 20 or 25%. I said I am paying cash and gave her my cash. She then asked me if I wanted my change! I said yes. I don't think counter service getting Washington's wonderful minimum wage should get "automatic" tips. I do tip counter service once in a while when the service deserves it. I am always amazed when someone assumes they should get my change. There are a couple things on the menu I would like to go back and try but the way they handled tipping at the counter was very off putting. read more

I've been coming to Somer Bakery almost since they opened. My daughter and I meet there on a weekly basis to buy bread, pastries, and try new things to eat. Thanks to the owners, I have finally found a tea I like. The owners are hardworking people and very friendly. It's not just a bakery, they are adding groceries and the wild cucumber pickles are to die for! They sell olive oil, hummus made by them, homemade babaganoush, and too many other items to list. It's a delightful place to meet someone and have something to eat--their flatbread pies are wonderful, the tea is great, and a baklava for dessert. Marvelous. I was super super happy to discover the Lam Bi Ajeen which I ate a ton of in Turkey as "Lahmajun". It's sooo good and it brought back so many memories. I'll be a regular now. My husband bought a bunch of flat breads and pastries on Christmas Eve. They went perfectly with our middle eastern dinner. I'm not sure of the names of each item, but he came home with four different types of bread and date pastries. All delicious! We definitely plan to go back! read more
