I asked for a #0 on the sides and a #1 on the top. ​At first glance in the shop, everything looked fine. However, once I got home and looked in better lighting, I noticed the fade was uneven--one side is noticeably higher than the other. While the staff is nice and the price is right for a quick trim, the attention to detail on technical cuts like fades wasn't quite there. If I can give a place 0 stars it would be this establishment. I checked in at the front and what started as a 25 minute wait turned into a 55 minute nightmare. First, I was passed over twice by customers who had checked in after I did. My only thinking that I got passed over was that the lady knew these people personally. So I see some bad reviews but never my experience. I have been here probably 25 times over the last year after getting frustrated with the local place in Half Moon Bay. If you know how to use their check-in system it works great and I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes and that was because I checked in about 10 minutes before I was going to get there and then hit traffic so it was 20 minutes. They remember your preferences and that makes it easy and I get a consistent haircut every time. Overall very happy with them and will continue to go back. I have been going to Great Clips for years and I've had good haircuts and some where I just realize it's only hair and it will grow out. Recently a new stylist has come on board and as long as he is there, he will be my sole stylist. His name is Joey and not only does he cut my hair perfectly each time, he is affable and easy to talk with. I can just as easily sit quietly, but thankfully I really enjoy talking with Joey. While I was initially impressed by the extreme speed at which a men's hair cut could happen (maybe 6 minutes?), appearing to cut hair as fast as humanly possible is not a winning strategy in my book. My hair was recently botched when this one gentleman sped through the process faster than I could process the damage being done. It was performed recklessly with very little regard for how I actually wanted my head to look. On Sunday 2nd at 1PM I made an appointment on through the app. The app said there was a 15 minute wait. I headed out to there , checked in with the front desk and sitted to wait for my turn. There was one person waiting ahead of me, then another person came in and had no appointment and was assisted right away, then another person came in, did not have an appointment and was served right away too (They were both white). After waiting for 30 minutes the woman ignored and helped another person. My name was on the screen. However, the lady ignored my appointment. At some point it felt like they were discriminating me. Can I just say how great Joey (Josue) is! Not just 5 BUT 10x stars for him. I'm five months pregnant and came in randomly because I needed a quick trim and it's hard for me to get down to my regular hairdresser in the city so I took a chance and went down the street from our house to this Great Clips. My husband normally comes here to get his routine haircut and is always pretty satisfied. Joey was super friendly and just very personable - on top of that he was quick, efficient, and did a fantastic job! I do have to call out that he EVEN cared enough to recommend giving me curtain bangs which I said sure why not and SO HAPPY I DID because they turned out so cute! What was even more impressive was that he was dressed up in a collared shirt and tie, which to be honest, you would not expect from a hairdresser at your typical Great Clips salon. This tells me that Joey definitely takes pride in his work and in his job to ensure he shows up in the best way possible for his customers. For someone like me, who has a dedicated hair lady and would typically not take a risk on someone I don't know, I sure am glad that the universe aligned me and him together. I tried to give them a chance. Moved here a year ago and I've had them give me a haircut 5x int hat span. Each time the lady I get usually the one with hand tremors unfortunately. I end up with mishaps sort to speak and I usually end up shaving my head. Today tho was the last straw. Two stylists waiting on about 6 customers which gives me about a 90 min wait. I wait an hour when lady informs me she needs to grab a 30 min lunch. Im ok with that so I go next door to feed my kids and return 30 mins later. This is the most infuriating experience ive had with a hair cut. I went in requesting a simple A Line Cut. The stylist assured me she could do this simple task. The result was a total destruction of my hair. She obviously was in over her head and my hair cut looks like a buzzcut in the back and layers in the front. There is nothing like frustrating your customers even before they have sat down. I'm not sure the online sign in is the best way to handle your customers but as is stands now, Sign in online. Otherwise you could easily have 5 people in front of you, If you have all the time in the world this may not be an issue, but if want to avoid this, sign in. After some hassle with the wait list, I was attended by Jill, a veteran stylist,who easily cut my hair the way I like it. I have learned to carry a photo around with me and now I just show it, no need for hand waving and strange adjectives that seem to always get interpreted differently. I arrived and then had to wait for 20 minutes and the person available did not know Any English so it was impossible to communicate with her as I do not know Chinese. I asked the lady in charge if she could cut my hair and she said No and started cursing the Fuck word about how she hates Fucking customers. Then the Chinese lady started mumbling "four O'Clock" meaning I should come back at 4 when there would be someone who knows how to cut hair. WORST. HAIRCUT. PLACE. EVER. Oh my God, where do I start?! It was entirely my fault that I needed a last-minute haircut and didn't want to bother trying to get an appointment at a "good" haircut place. When I entered Great Clips (as Jade L. also mentioned), there is no greeting, no acknowledgment., no sign-in sheet, no indication of what a customer with money should do. I should have left at that moment. There were two women in there cutting hair. While waiting, I noticed that the two little old ladies ahead of me were both waiting for one "stylist" in particular. They were pretty insistent. This should have been a strong indication that the other "stylist" was terrible, but again, I needed a haircut that day, so I stuck it out. The woman who cut my hair clearly has NEVER had ANY sort of beautician training. Stay away from this woman! You'll know her easily by sight: She has long, straight dark hair and King Tut eye makeup. She's sweet as can be, but I have no idea who hired her. This woman did not wet my hair, which is something all other stylists do. Then she came at me with the scissors, cutting haphazardly, like one would prune a shrub. You know how most hair cutters hold a strand of your hair with one hand, and cut with the scissors in their other hand? Yeah, well this woman just uses the one hand, so I knew there was no way she was doing to cut my hair straight. I asked for an inch and a half off, and she probably cut half an inch. This was fine, because clearly I am going to have to go to another place to get this disaster fixed. I consider it a $14-plus-tip lesson well learned. I could have done a better job cutting my own hair. Oh, and no one working at this place seems to know how to use the cash resister, even though I'm sure they have all been there a while. I was disappointed with the quality of service as well as the professionalism (lack thereof) of the stylists. I arrived mid afternoon on a Saturday and pretty much all I heard the entire time there was the stylists loudly complaining to each other across the room about how busy they are etc... It got so bad that one of the moms waiting for her son finally said, "ya but don't you make more money in tips if it is busy" to try to stop the flood of complaints filling the room. Every person that comes in is greeted with "did you check in online" rather than a hi or hello or how are you. I tried to check in online and the function was disabled... maybe it was my browser or something but i was not deserving of the scornful look that I or all the other customers who did not sign in online received upon arrival. She asked me how much to take off and we estimated an inch length and she cut it and asked how it was. I asked her if we could go shorter and she gave me a huge sigh and rolled her eyes as if i was asking her to detail my car or something. Advice for the stylists: it is your job to stand there and cut hair all day. additional customers entering the store are a good thing and should be treated as such, not as a burden- the treatment I and everyone there at the same time as me experienced. If you don't like this type of work, leave the industry... don't take it out on your customers. My stylist Alicia ( i think was her name) was obviously experienced and knew what she was doing but could not want to be there any less. She was rushing, totally ignored the fact that I have a callick which I can no longer get to lay down at all. I look like a rooster and it is a bit ridiculous. So I went in to get a trim and the lady cutting my hair cut it shorter than what I had asked for. When I got out of the seat and looked in the mirror one side was longer than the other. I pointed it out and asked her to fix it, she did but she said that I had wavy hair in some areas and that It was hard to cut and even it on both sides. Prior to coming in I had taken a shower so my hair was damp and not wavy at all. Even with dry hair I have straight hair. Like really ur supposed to be a professional!!!!! If I leave with a bill that is less than the HIGH $300s, I consider that a cheap day at the hair salon. But, my wonderful pricey stylist is kind of far away and I needed someone to trim my ends because I was overdue for a visit they were not looking their best. So I walked into Great Clips, waited 5 minutes for a stylist, asked for 3/4 of an inch off the bottom, got what I asked for, paid $14.00, gave the woman a $6.00 tip and left with healthy ends and a fat wallet. Would I go here for something complicated? No. BUT, it is fine for what it is. Keep in mind, for $14.00 you do NOT get concierge service, hot tea/wine, fancy mags to read, or a head massage if you opt to be shampooed, but I wasn't expecting any of the above for the price. My expectations are not high and I have rarely been disappointed. It's a $12-$15 haircut that occasionally goes on sale for $9. I take the boys in every 45-60 days and get them a clipper cut. My wife goes to a salon for $70 and it is nicer, but I am not taking the boys there. I may not be qualified to comment as I have not personally gone to a barber in 20+ years. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I decided to take my daughter for a haircut and once I walked into the store, they do NOT acknowledge you in any way, shape or form. There were two stylists, but not people that you may trust to cut your hair. I decided to just wait it out as I was contemplating. A male stylist approached us and took us to the station. He proceeded to ask how much do I want him to cut/trim. I had no idea from 3-4 inches. He then raised his tone and told me that he was not going to take his time to have to re-cut IF I decided that I may want 4 inches vs. the 3 inches. He didn't care at all and had quite an attitude and to think that I almost let him cut my daughter's hair or even mine... no thanks! I shared with him that I did not trust him cutting her hair as he was not capable with that attitude towards a PAYING customer. He didn't care to make things better nor care for the business. That was his complete attitude. I highly do NOT recommend this place to anyhow unless you are one that could care less of your looks / style. I have to agree with Dan T. - I'm sure he consistently gets the shitty haircuts being the nice man he is to continue to have faith that it will change BUT it's not going to.
