I made an appointment with Gina to have my hair color touched up, partial highlights and a much need haircut. The location is great b/c there is plenty of parking as the salon is located in a mini shopping mall in Pacifica. The salon/spa is gorgeous and you can get many other treatments there. From the time I arrived Gina was very attentive and explained everything she was doing. She took the time to ask questions to be sure I was getting the right color and cut. The end result is....I absolutely love my hair! She did everything I wanted and more......I will definitely be Gina's long-term client. Prices are reasonable and you definitely get what you pay for. Gina is my stylist, who not only gives a great hair cut, but also great conversation. She is very friendly, confident, and knowledgeable. She always offers suggestions on what I can get done and always gives me the EXACT color and cut that I want. She obviously knows what she is talking about. She always spends time texturizing and making sure the layers don't get out of control. She always explains what she was doing, so I never feel uncomfortable. It is always nerve wracking to find a new hair stylist. I went one gal for years, so it made it especially hard to decide to go somewhere new. Gina, was great. She took me on a walk-in which was fabulous! She then proceeded to get an idea of what I wanted. After some friendly banter she got down to business and gave me a terrific cut. The cut was so nice I decided to come back the next week to get some color. She did such an excellent job of that too, so of course I agreed when she suggested I get highlights. The end-product was fabulous. I get compliments every day on my hair. So, I send them to Gina too. But the best part is that Gina has a real love for her clients and a great joi de vivre. We just hit it off easily. She cracked jokes, told stories and had me laughing the whole time. I had a wonderful experience getting my hair done. And in a small town like Pacifica, it's great knowing she's just down the street and so easy to get to. Gina Arnest Rocks!!! I have had my hair styled, cut and colored by many stylists in the Bay Area. I am a licensed cosmetologist myself and have very high standards. My hair is very long and she respects it and doesn't try to chop it off like many stylists have tried to do in the past. Gina takes her time, she's experienced, knowledegeable and the only person I trust with my hair anymore. She treats my hair like a piece of fine silk and gives me all of her time and effort. I've gone to Gina twice now and can only say she knows what she's doing. I'm in the process of growing out boxed do-it-yourself black/red hair color and Gina has been able to transform me into a grown up. I have a cute cut, even color, highlights, and don't look like a two-toned hipster gone bad. I have tried several stylist throughout the bay area. From pricey and sophisticated in SF, to the local "ma and pa" and now Gina. She is local (in Pacifica), very reasonable price ($45 a cut), and YES a great person to converse with. She cuts well but you do have to be very specific (with pictures in what you want) and no get caught in conversation as I learned the hard way this van be a big distraction. However, another plus is she flexible (with scheduling), and even will confirm your appointment via TEXT. I have thick wavy/curly hair that she can manage to cut, but request/reminders for thinning are a must. In terms of not getting caught up in conversation is important bc errors have occurred. I had to go back twice for her to fix my hair. The last time she cut my side bang shorter after I had specifically told her not to. read more

Given all the positive reviews, I was hoping for a better experience. I showed Gina a photo of a cut I had and said I wanted my hair cut in a similar way. She seemed to understand what I wanted. I couldn't see what she was doing (can't see without my glasses). When she was done, my hair was nothing like the photo and it was WAY too short. All I can say is WOW!!! Gina does an amazing job when she works with your hair! Bring in any picture, any hairstyle and she can make your hair look like whatever you want. I brought in a picture of the haircut i want and she cut the exact same hairstyle in the picture! she takes her time and doesn't cut your hair but sculpts it. she really wants her clients to be satisfied with the result and boy was i satisfied! if your looking for a new hairstylist consider Gina because you won't be disappointed. she is the best hair stylist i have ever had!! :) read more

Gina has been coloring my hair for over two years now. She came highly recommended through local mom friends of mine and I couldn't agree more, she's fantastic!! She started with a very informative phone consultation before I made an appointment. I showed her pictures of what color I wanted which included some red (red can be a tricky color to work with) and she got me the color I wanted! She has always been careful not to overdo the red and has gradually worked up to brighter shades as requested. She's a fun person to talk to and my time in her chair just flies by. Gina is very nice and did a great job. I am giving one star because I feel I was taken advantage of and she was not respectful of my time! My daughter wanted her bottom tips done for her birthday. I looked up some places and came across Gina. I contacted her, she responded right away and fit my daughter in. The day of, she texted me she's running behind, ok no problem. I get there driving from the city and she says she's not feeling good and needs to reschedule. Wish she would of told me on the phone so I didn't have to waste my time driving all the way there. I had texted her asking her how much it would cost and she never responded. So I Checked her site and went off the prices there, thinking ok it won't be more than $150. After taking 5 hrs... mind you my daughters hair has never been dyed before and it was just the bottom tips so don't understand why it took that long! It cost me $350!!!! Asked her how it cost that much she says she charges $189 first 2 hrs and every hr after that $100!! Doesn't say anything on her site that she charges per hr! Never heard of that, usually it's a flat rate! Lesson learned though I should of asked her again how much it would cost! Think she knew If she told me how much she planned on charging me I wouldn't have brought my daughter there. She needs to update her fees on her site. Also, please make sure to get the rate before you get any work done. I have never even spent close to that on my own hair and I've done a lot more. read more

I went to Gina when my regular stylist went out of town suddenly. Gina was able to schedule an appointment for me and was helpful explaining where her salon was. I walked in at the appointed time and the place was vacant except for one client under a hair dryer. After a few minutes Gina came out from the back of the shop. She had me sit at her station and went to mix color. Upon returning I watched in the mirror as she stirred the brush in the bowl and then proceeded to fish a couple of long hairs out of the bowl and wipe them on the side of her workstand. I was flabbergasted - did she not clean out the bowl before mixing the next batch of color?? Then in the midst of applying the color she left to put feathers in another woman's hair. Not clear whether she overbooked, or was doing a friend a favor. I did like the cut she did after washing my hair, but the color was darker than I thought it would be and my temples were grey again within 10 days after paying $120 for the color and cut. read more
