Daisy provided great service for my son! she was very patient with him! he's almost 2 so he moves a lot and she did great! im super satisfied with my service and will definitely be going back! read more

Generally speaking I like Great Clips but the problem is that it's a hit or miss service when it comes to the haircut; and no one wants to take chances with that. I also like their check in online option. Not sure why they raised their prices so high. It used to be $10-14 for a haircut, now it's $22. That's almost double. I understand inflation, but still, double?! read more

Not a good fade, had to ask for the lady to cut around my ears. Definitely rushed and did not do a good job. Will definitely not go back.

I called this location and asked for today's availability. The woman asked me to hold for a minute... when she came back on the line she said "Yes?" I said "Yes?" "Can I help you?" she asked. "You ask me to hold...?" I responded. Then I can't believe it when she tells me, "Whoa, calm down. This isn't the same person you talked to before." SERIOUSLY?? If they can't even handle a phone call, I doubt they can perform a haircut. read more

This place may give decent discounted haircuts but they did not clean their utensils for my haircut the lady cutting my hair clipped my neck and I ended up getting a nasty infection that lasted weeks and sent me to the hospital. Please do better for your other customers. But I won't be returning read more

I got a haircut today. And it seems like they didn't cut it even so I don't recommend going back there. This is like the second time they cut it wrong not going back there again read more

I went for a haircut last night, the lady who checked me in was nice, but the lady (Jessica) who cut my hair was rude and messed my hair up, she cut it uneven. She rushed through it. read more

I'm not one to write negative reviews unless they are warranted. I've been to this great clips over 20 times. Sometimes the haircuts are good but that's depending on who's cutting. This particular review is about I believe her name is Jessica. She has cut my hair maybe 5 times and each time has been terrible. I went in today and with extreme hesitation I let her cut my hair.....again. I specially told her what I wanted and right off the bat I knew she messed up my hair. There is no reason a haircut should take 3 minutes. Another guy was getting his haircut and was almost done when I walked in. I was driving off while he was still getting his haircut properly. This was the final straw. If you go there avoid her at all costs read more

Came to visit in Downey family member's went to get a haircut for my son clean sides only the haircut was cut un even on sides and we've been here many times before, that's sad. read more

I didn't even get pass a phone call. I called them to check on their schedule later in the day. I informed them I had a 10 yr little boy with Down Syndrome and also Autistic tendencies. Before I could say another word she interrupted me and said "If he's a problem we won't cut his hair".. WHAT?? Umm, I didn't say he would be a problem. I was going to say he's quiet, he normally doesn't let us cut his hair, but sometimes when I take him to a barber or professionals he seems to be better behaved. Anyhow, I decided NOT to go there.. and take him to Pelitos in Downey! They were great and he was great. Great clips assumed he would be a problem.. now they never have to worry! read more

HORRIBLE customer service. I have recovered from covid but the stress it put on my body is making my hair shed like crazy. I was desperate to trim off all the dead ends so that it would hopefully shed less so I came straight after a long day of work. I check in and it says 75 min wait (on a Monday!!?) but ok I go in and ask if that's accurate; I'm told it'll be 45 mins maybe less. I wait in my car bc they say the lobby is closed, and it's going over 45 mins. I'm being patient because I figure something must've come up and well I've already waited so long. 30 mins pass again. I call to see if I'm next and they said that my name dropped off a long time ago because it passed 45 mins?! They said that's just how the system is but I ask why no one called me ? That's what my number is there for and how am I supposed to know if I'm not allowed in there... after going back and forth with her she says she's adding me to the list again and it'll be a 5 - 10 min wait . 5 mins go by and I decide to go in anyway bc they clearly don't care about checking in with us. Then some purple head lady says it'll be 20 mins and I have to wait outside DESPITE me being there before everybody else , I'm at the back of the line AGAIN bc im not next on the system. Purple head proceeds with "I don't have time to go back and forth with you right now I'm trying to cut hair." Ok. My mistake. I'm the one who's wrong. I'm inconvenienced but you're right not your problem. She didn't get cursed at because there was a sweet little boy in the chair next to her. Been going there for a while now but wow I was literally on the verge of tears bc they didn't seem to care one bit and made me feel like i was being whiny and a burden. Terrible experience read more

My complaint is about the stylist Flor who seemed to be in a mood the day i walked for my haircut. I had a coupon but I didn't mention it beforehand in case she rushed it. Didn't matter, the whole thing lasted less than 4 min! I explained I just wanted a single layer bob so just cut about 2 inches hair was pretty much at my shoulders. She cut me off and started wetting my hair before I finished explaining but i figured it was pretty basic for her so I let her. She literally combed it without parting it, cut it from the back, then pulled the cover off me. She didn't part it, or section it. I mean i knew I wasn't paying that much anyway but wow. Ive had a lot of haircuts in the past and every single one at the very least sectioned it. Anyway, I figured just pay and never come back. I give her the coupon and without even looking says it's expired and I have to pay full price. I tell her today is the last day to use it and she denies the date! Wtf! I had to show her my phone to show her the date and she says "I have to check" goes back to her coworkers who are gossiping loudly. Then comes back and says she'll make a one time exception! Lol what. Like I was lying about today's date. I decided not to tip her on an $8 haircut and I'm never going back. The one in Eagle Rock has less rude stylists. read more

Bad service!! Went on a Sunday and was the only hair salon open. So i took my daughter for a haircut and right away not the best service. My daughter told me later that the lady was rude to her. I don't appreciate that. She asked if she could get her hair blow dried and curled and she says we don't do that here? Like fucking really? It's a hair salon...hello!!! There was actually someone next to her getting her hair blow dried. Complete BS !! Find anywhere else but here. Wish I could take back my tip...lol read more

Great spot in Downey and super convenient to get a haircut at thanks to the online check in system. If you're not doing this, you're not even living in 2018 yet. Everybody at this location does a pretty good job. I come here about every 2 weeks. Always see a familiar face. The staff here is friendly and always provide you with their best. Flor almost always takes care of me. Super nice lady who puts very much attention to detail on my hair read more

Came in today to see Veronica for an overdue haircut. She's been cutting my hair for years, and is the only person who understands what I want without having to say much. I've gone through multiple hair styles with her, including long layers way past my shoulder blades, a-line bobs, and my current pixie with my mini taper fade. I've loved them all. I know I can always count on her for new styles, or just a simple clean up. Thanks for always keeping me lookin' fabulous!! read more

Great Clips - Pixie Cut by Veronica - Hair Salons Near Me - Downey, California

To start I've been a customer since Great Clips opened here in Downey. I'm extremely picky about who cuts my hair because I love my long hair and for some reason they always cut it too short. That said I highly recommend Charlene because she cuts my hair just the way I want it. I'm never disappointed with the few haircuts I get per year. She's knowledgeable about hair and I always get excellent customer service making my haircut more enjoyable. If you come to Great Clips ask for Charlene you will not regret it if you always want a good haircut. read more

Awesome place to get a haircut. Everyone is very friendly. I highly recommend Charlene. She takes her time cutting my hair and styling it just the way I like it. read more

Today was a nightmare went in to cut my hair that was to my waist and asked for 6inches to be cut off I ended up with my hair to my shoulders mind you I have curly hair . I'm afraid to style and diffuse it , it will even get shorter . Lesson learned ask your hair stylist if they know how to cut curly hair . If you go there do not get your hair cut by FLOR . read more

Been coming to this place for over a year. Absolutely love it. The last time I was there, Charlene cut my hair, and she did an amazing job! She's such a professional stylist, very kind, and just pleasant to chat with. Definitely my go to girl from now on. The staff here is just great! read more

This place is nice, clean and gets you leaving refresh. I came here before my dinner at Benihana. Flor was great, fast and made sure I was satisfied with the fade. I also bought a product that she presented and used on my hair, which was redken brews fiber creme. I've been to many different salons since I travel from south orange county to LA and I would say this place made it to my Top 3 salons. Thanks again and I'll be back soon for another Great Clips. read more

I called to check wait time , they said come in we'll see u before we close I arrive and some rude old lady name Jessica denied me ... she could barley speak English and had a nasty attitude horrible experience and a waste of time ... this place was a real disappointment ... I even offered 40$ Tio to get a quick cut .... Nancy and Jessica a bunch of clowns read more

Check-in online, almost no wait time. Christina was very professional, will explain options in detail, great conversation. Highly recommend.

Went in as a last resort and had a feeling I should have walked right out. But I Forgot barbershops close early-Ish and kiddo had picture day the next day. I showed them the picture of his last cut, explained it, showed the IG video I originally even referenced for it. They hand us off to the older lady in the place. Now look, I have plenty of friends in the business...all of whom are very honest about their minimum age range for clients. I get it's not easy to work with little ones, I respect that it's not for everyone but just tell me that. This lady was totally not kid friendly! Snapping at my son, pushing and jerking his head. Now my kid can wiggle abit but nothing ridiculous enough to merit her mannerisms. Especially when I'm right there reminding him to stay still and he has his iPad keeping him distracted as well. (His barber didn't have an issue either! ijs). she starts on the opposite side from where I am, I tell her not too close bc of the dress code at his school so like a 2 at most. By the time she gets around enough to where I can see she had him down to almost a zero! Of course I react! She insists it's like that in the pictures and rudely says "so what do want me to do?" Uhhh rewind time so I can get the hell out of here maybe?! But obviously you lack magic so "just finish it now" . again I told her well on the top short enough to spike but long enough to slightly grab bc he likes his occasional mohawk or comb back plus he has wavy hair so I love the slight curl action. She goes soo short that it can't be spiked it just lays flat. Then her fade out! omg!!! ‍ by this point she wasn't even trying and I'm having to stand next to her - pointing out where it needs to be blended more. I should have done that from the beginning but lesson learned - not everyone knows what they're doing despite what they claim. Paid and still tipped bc I have worked in the service industry in the past and a service was provided despite the rudeness and terrible quality. Luckily my kiddo can pull off just about any look, but this momma was furious! Needless to say - never returning! I would have been way better off at a fantastic sams or super cuts or even the swap meet. Which trust me if I ever find myself in that position again, I will do! read more

It's the first time I come to this place and as soon as I walk in Flor helped me, the price is very affordable and the lady that helped me was very professional, Flor was always attentive and listening to what I needed, I am very satisfied with the service and with how much I had to pay, thank you Flor and keep up the good work read more

Go here very often had multiple different people cut my hair and all were good cuts timing is good especially using the website to book ahead of time. I read the complaints on here and a lot of it is just attitude and ego. Come in and treat each other kindly yes people at work have bad days and bad shifts some of you guys never worked a customer service job and it shows read more

I'm so upset with my haircut. I told the lady to cut off as little as possible. I just wanted a trim all over, including my bangs. She chopped off half of my bangs & made everything looked uneven. I've been trying to grow out my hair but needed to just trim it to keep it healthy. She didn't even know how to part my hair. She gave me the comb & asked me to show her? My bangs are barely 1 1/2 to 2 inches now... shorter than Jim Carey's bangs in Dumb & Dumber. Now I have to try to hide them until it grows out. This is the worse haircut ever. Now I know how my son felt when they chopped off his hair. I feel like crying too now. 1 star because I had to so I can post this review. read more

Today was my first time coming here & I will definitely be back! Darlene was the one who cut my hair & she was really nice & we had a great conversation overall. She made my feel welcomed & since I was a walk-in I just waited 30 minutes which isn't too bad. The price is absolutely great I paid 15 dollars for a regular hair cut. I would normally pay 30 dollars. Darlene was so generous & when I paid she mentioned to me that there is a 7.99 any hair cut which is ahhhhmazing. read more

This is my 3rd time coming to Great Clips, so I review based on present and past experience. Two stars because their online reservation system gives you and approximate wait time (Mine was 18 minutes, literally the drive from my home to their location) when I got there they had a lobby full (Good for them), they lady asked if If I had reserved online, I said yes, and she told me there was 5 people ahead of me, I understand the disclosure of (These wait times are approximate) but definitely the wait would had been more than 18 minutes and I had to be in downtown with horrific traffic by 5:30 PM (I went in at 3:15 to great clips, still I would had time to make it, have I been seen but the wait would not allow me to stay so I cancelled right there and then. Maybe they should remove the wait time from their website and just ad a disclosure that "There may be a wait upon arrival base on client volume". My other issue was on a separate occasion got my haircut ok, but when the lady finished she took the cape off and said you are done, I had a face full of hair, not to mention the neck and ears, I was under the impression that a small clean up of the client would be included as they do in most barbershops and salons, I went home leaving hair all over my car. Aside from that and by the looks of all the positive reviews, it is a hit and miss when it comes to time frames, and do ask your stylist to clean you up a bit before she or he takes off the cape and claims your done. read more

I've been a client of Great Clips for a few years now unfortunately my usual salon got closed down. I checked in online and my wait went past 30 min the check in time. Totally understandable if there was a big crowd but this was not the case. There was one worker standing by the register gossiping distracting the others cutting clients hair, supper annoying. After 30 or so min my son got called. He has never complained about a haircut in his life but this day he asked to never take him back. Unfortunately this person has no experience with the tools she cut the back of his ear and lower neck, and quickly blamed it on him. She also didn't clean up his lower back line which is common when getting a fade. Now I get kids move around but in his 8 years no one has cut him while cutting his hair. I will definitely no come back they sure lost a potential client.. read more

My family and I have been going to this location since they first opened. The prices are great and the coupons they offer periodically really help out. The online check-in is a lifesaver! Flor is very friendly and always does an awesome job on my hair. I have layers and she seems to be the one who cuts it the way I like it. The other stylists do a great job as well, but Flor knows my style which is why I keep going back to her. I would recommend Great Clips to anyone looking for a haircut. read more

Have had multiple good cuts from this location. Easy to check in online and get in and out without a wait. Most recently with Christina.

Without a doubt a FIVR STAR review for Great Clips-Downey! Walked in feeling welcomed and they immediately checked us in. This was our first time at Great Clips and must say they did a great great job! The entire staff was great but a special Thank You to Angel and Veronica! Angel recommended scissors instead of the clippers, for a better texture and style - something no other had ever recommended for my 16 yr old son! Veronica's goal was not only to make my son look good but she used her motherly instinct to make sure my son was happy with his haircut! Needless to say both my boys were super happy! Highly recommend Great Clips! read more

The Great Clips of Downey is where it's at. I've been coming here for about a year now, I would recommend to anyone looking for a good haircut with a phenomenal staff. The nice thing is you get to check-in online, that's probably why I'm a returning customer--it fits into my schedule. No matter who is cutting your hair you know you're in for a clean cut, I highly recommend Flor she'll make you feel right a home. Big thanks to all the staff! read more

Christina is the most professional hair stylist I've met. I only trust her with my hair now. She is extremely talented, not only technically but with her aesthetic vision in creating the perfect cut that will complement my face shape. Her cuts make me feel confident. If possible I would give 0 Stars, this is false advertising. It said it was $5.99 a haircut when I looked it up, so as you can imagine here I go; but I did honestly feel sketchy about it becuase $5.99! So when I walked in and asked, they told me it is $15! Idiotic. And I bussed it over there, & after doing other errands bussing it as well from Whittier! So as one would probably think, it did take me way more time to get there. Which had a niqqa even more pisst!! read more
