This particular review is about I believe her name is Jessica. She has cut my hair maybe 5 times and each time has been terrible. I went in today and with extreme hesitation I let her cut my hair.....again. I specially told her what I wanted and right off the bat I knew she messed up my hair. There is no reason a haircut should take 3 minutes. Another guy was getting his haircut and was almost done when I walked in. I was driving off while he was still getting his haircut properly. I didn't even get pass a phone call. I ​called them to check on their schedule later in the day. I informed them I had a 10 yr little boy with Down Syndrome and also Autistic tendencies. HORRIBLE customer service. I have recovered from covid but the stress it put on my body is making my hair shed like crazy. I was desperate to trim off all the dead ends so that it would hopefully shed less so I came straight after a long day of work. I check in and it says 75 min wait (on a Monday!!?) but ok I go in and ask if that's accurate; I'm told it'll be 45 mins maybe less. I wait in my car bc they say the lobby is closed, and it's going over 45 mins. I'm being patient because I figure something must've come up and well I've already waited so long. 30 mins pass again. I call to see if I'm next and they said that my name dropped off a long time ago because it passed 45 mins?! They said that's just how the system is but I ask why no one called me ? That's what my number is there for and how am I supposed to know if I'm not allowed in there... after going back and forth with her she says she's adding me to the list again and it'll be a 5 - 10 min wait . 5 mins go by and I decide to go in anyway bc they clearly don't care about checking in with us. Then some purple head lady says it'll be 20 mins and I have to wait outside DESPITE me being there before everybody else , I'm at the back of the line AGAIN bc im not next on the system. Purple head proceeds with "I don't have time to go back and forth with you right now I'm trying to cut hair." Ok. My mistake. I'm the one who's wrong. I'm inconvenienced but you're right not your problem. She didn't get cursed at because there was a sweet little boy in the chair next to her. My complaint is about the stylist Flor who seemed to be in a mood the day i walked for my haircut. I had a coupon but I didn't mention it beforehand in case she rushed it. Didn't matter, the whole thing lasted less than 4 min! I explained I just wanted a single layer bob so just cut about 2 inches hair was pretty much at my shoulders. She cut me off and started wetting my hair before I finished explaining but i figured it was pretty basic for her so I let her. She literally combed it without parting it, cut it from the back, then pulled the cover off me. She didn't part it, or section it. I mean i knew I wasn't paying that much anyway but wow. Ive had a lot of haircuts in the past and every single one at the very least sectioned it. Anyway, I figured just pay and never come back. I give her the coupon and without even looking says it's expired and I have to pay full price. I tell her today is the last day to use it and she denies the date! Wtf! I had to show her my phone to show her the date and she says "I have to check" goes back to her coworkers who are gossiping loudly. Then comes back and says she'll make a one time exception! Lol what. Like I was lying about today's date. I decided not to tip her on an $8 haircut and I'm never going back. The one in Eagle Rock has less rude stylists. read more

Bad service!! Went on a Sunday and was the only hair salon open. So i took my daughter for a haircut and right away not the best service. My daughter told me later that the lady was rude to her. I don't appreciate that. She asked if she could get her hair blow dried and curled and she says we don't do that here? Like fucking really? It's a hair salon...hello!!! To start I've been a customer since Great Clips opened here in Downey. I'm extremely picky about who cuts my hair because I love my long hair and for some reason they always cut it too short. That said I highly recommend Charlene because she cuts my hair just the way I want it. I'm never disappointed with the few haircuts I get per year. She's knowledgeable about hair and I always get excellent customer service making my haircut more enjoyable. Went in as a last resort and had a feeling I should have walked right out. But I Forgot barbershops close early-Ish and kiddo had picture day the next day. I showed them the picture of his last cut, explained it, showed the IG video I originally even referenced for it. They hand us off to the older lady in the place. Now look, I have plenty of friends in the business...all of whom are very honest about their minimum age range for clients. I get it's not easy to work with little ones, I respect that it's not for everyone but just tell me that. This lady was totally not kid friendly! Snapping at my son, pushing and jerking his head. Now my kid can wiggle abit but nothing ridiculous enough to merit her mannerisms. Especially when I'm right there reminding him to stay still and he has his iPad keeping him distracted as well. (His barber didn't have an issue either! ijs). she starts on the opposite side from where I am, I tell her not too close bc of the dress code at his school so like a 2 at most. By the time she gets around enough to where I can see she had him down to almost a zero! Of course I react! She insists it's like that in the pictures and rudely says "so what do want me to do?" Uhhh rewind time so I can get the hell out of here maybe?! But obviously you lack magic so "just finish it now" . again I told her well on the top short enough to spike but long enough to slightly grab bc he likes his occasional mohawk or comb back plus he has wavy hair so I love the slight curl action. She goes soo short that it can't be spiked it just lays flat. Then her fade out! omg!!! ‍ by this point she wasn't even trying and I'm having to stand next to her - pointing out where it needs to be blended more. I should have done that from the beginning but lesson learned - not everyone knows what they're doing despite what they claim. Paid and still tipped bc I have worked in the service industry in the past and a service was provided despite the rudeness and terrible quality. Luckily my kiddo can pull off just about any look, but this momma was furious! Needless to say - never returning! I'm so upset with my haircut. I told the lady to cut off as little as possible. I just wanted a trim all over, including my bangs. She chopped off half of my bangs & made everything looked uneven. I've been trying to grow out my hair but needed to just trim it to keep it healthy. She didn't even know how to part my hair. She gave me the comb & asked me to show her? My bangs are barely 1 1/2 to 2 inches now... shorter than Jim Carey's bangs in Dumb & Dumber. Now I have to try to hide them until it grows out. This is the worse haircut ever. This is my 3rd time coming to Great Clips, so I review based on present and past experience. Two stars because their online reservation system gives you and approximate wait time (Mine was 18 minutes, literally the drive from my home to their location) when I got there they had a lobby full (Good for them), they lady asked if If I had reserved online, I said yes, and she told me there was 5 people ahead of me, I understand the disclosure of (These wait times are approximate) but definitely the wait would had been more than 18 minutes and I had to be in downtown with horrific traffic by 5:30 PM (I went in at 3:15 to great clips, still I would had time to make it, have I been seen but the wait would not allow me to stay so I cancelled right there and then. Maybe they should remove the wait time from their website and just ad a disclosure that "There may be a wait upon arrival base on client volume". My other issue was on a separate occasion got my haircut ok, but when the lady finished she took the cape off and said you are done, I had a face full of hair, not to mention the neck and ears, I was under the impression that a small clean up of the client would be included as they do in most barbershops and salons, I went home leaving hair all over my car. Aside from that and by the looks of all the positive reviews, it is a hit and miss when it comes to time frames, and do ask your stylist to clean you up a bit before she or he takes off the cape and claims your done. read more

I've been a client of Great Clips for a few years now unfortunately my usual salon got closed down. I checked in online and my wait went past 30 min the check in time. Totally understandable if there was a big crowd but this was not the case. There was one worker standing by the register gossiping distracting the others cutting clients hair, supper annoying. After 30 or so min my son got called. He has never complained about a haircut in his life but this day he asked to never take him back. Unfortunately this person has no experience with the tools she cut the back of his ear and lower neck, and quickly blamed it on him. She also didn't clean up his lower back line which is common when getting a fade. Now I get kids move around but in his 8 years no one has cut him while cutting his hair.
