$17 (without tip) for a cheap, fast and a great quality haircut- definitely recommend for poor college students. Katherine is awesome! She did a great job cutting and styling my hair. I've been coming to get my hair cut here for the past year now, and even though I get a different person every time, they never disappoint! read more

They're rude and just try to get you out of the door ASAP. I called to ask a question about a coupon and the lady was so mean for no reason, she didn't even answer my question and hung up on me. The women there need to learn to treat customers with respect and how to have a good attitude at work. read more

Traveling through town and needed a fresh cut. Found this place online and came here because they were open late. I'm extremely picky with who cuts my hair but really had to get a cut for a meeting the next day. I was so happy with my hair stylist Raquel. I will definitely come back when I'm in town. Thank you Raquel for the great cut and hospitality. read more

wait time was very short (only a few minutes) the staff was super nice and sweet hair cut was amazing (i wanted to cut it short and that is exactly what they did) the whole experience was great and i would definitely come back here again read more

So under appreciated! I had Kathleen and she was amazing! She really let me pick the style I wanted and she was super nice when answering questions I had about my hair and how I could maintain it. He place was very nice and accommodating towards time availability, we were instantly seated when we got there and we had only checked in two minutes prior. No appointments needed but should definitely check in, makes everyone's job a ton easier. Tip: trust them! They've had years of experience and should get more credit. If you're kind to them, kindness will be given back. read more

Vivian cut my hair and I love how it turned out! I usually get very nervous for haircuts which is why I haven't gotten one in over 6 months... But she made me feel very comfortable with her suggestions as I told her what I wanted. She listened to everything I said and did a great job! Brought in a supercuts coupon, so I got $2 off the haircut. Will be coming back here again! read more

I didn't come in with anything too challenging, just asked to add layers and a subtle fringe because ANY cut from my grown out mop would have been an improvement. Ashley made sure to communicate exactly what she was going to do, and didn't go on without my agreement, which is nice for those that are very anxious over their hair. I would recommend coming in to fix up overgrown styles, or to rejuvenate dead hair. As my pleasant experience was based upon a simple objective, I would make sure you are clear with what you want early on if you request something more drastic or specific. Only took 15 min and $5.99 +tip with coupon on the back of Safeway receipts. read more

Decent hair salon. I got a good hair cut here. I will say had to wait a bit even with an appointment. But my stylist was nice and apologetic. Crystal was my stylist. She was friendly and I thought she did a nice job of my hair, especially since I have hard-to-manage thick curly hair. I wish I had a before-after pic. read more

If there was an option for 0 stars I would give it. The sign said that it would open at 10am. I waited 30 minutes after 10am for the place to open and I finally left. This was so unprofessional! read more

I had a coupon for a 6.99 haircut and I was skeptical at first. When I got there I didn't have to wait and Haylee cut my hair right away. She was patient with what I wanted. She cut my hair and cut it again another 2 inches because I wanted it a bit shorter. My haircut took only about 20 minutes or so. Haylee is a great hair cutter and got exactly what I wanted :) I would definitely go back again! read more

Worst haircut I have ever gotten. I walked in to get my bangs trimmed. I have blunt fringe bangs, and I was silly enough to think that it would be simple. Of course I was wrong. First off, the woman cutting my hair sneezed and didn't wash her hands, proceeding to run her fingers through my hair. Ew. Second, she spritzed my hair, but mostly just got my neck wet. Considering how far my bangs and my neck are from each other, I was pretty appalled. Third, she was extremely scissor happy. She started snipping away, and before I could say something, she had already cut most of my bangs away. So I got out of there, as quickly as I could, surrendering my $6. This is how my bangs look now: They are to my eyebrows. So far so good. Oh wait. There is a layer of bangs on top of my bangs that is a good 3-4 inches above the bottom of my bangs. I don't know what I asked for, but I did not ask for multi-tiered bangs. I don't know how long this is going to take to grow out, but there is absolutely no way I am ever coming back here read more

IF I COULD GIVE LESS THAN ONE STAR I WOULD... my friend went in for a bang touchup and the person who did her hair made it extremely UNEVEN and WAY TOO SHORT. i'm no expect but i know that sh*t was uneven as hell and not even worth 8 bucks. no by a long shot. as a struggling college student, money is always extremely low so when we pay for something we expect it to be worth at lest 8 bucks. that is a 5 dollar cut, that's me just being nice. trash. get better stylist... read more

Great Clips - Hair Salons Near Me - Davis, California

They sometimes have $8.99 days. and you can use competitors coupons for more discount. Currently, if you go to Savemart or Safeway the receipt will have coupon for $5.99 haircut. They have a customer bank (via your phone number); where they store information on your previous haircut. This is mainly to help the stylist know how to approach your haircut. This is good for those who don't really know how to use hair cut jargon. I've been coming to this Great Clips on and off for the past four years. Mainly when they have sales, coupons or deals. No appointment needed. They usually have 2-3 stylist on hand. Wait ranges from 5mins to 20mins (at busy hours). Not too bad, especially for those who need a haircut and don't want to make appointments. The haircut. My hair style isn't too difficult; I haven't had a problem with them. Most of the stylist I've experienced are nice. A few time I have come home to notice patches of hair (I end up cutting myself), uneven sides and they cut shorter than asked for. If you want a simple fast haircut, come here. If you want a nice fancy haircut, find a fancy hair salon. If you want a simple, fast, cheap haircut; drive to Sacramento - there are some $6 places... I guess you should remember, you get what you pay for. Although, at the normal price of $16... I don't know if this place is worth the full price. I would have given them 3 STARS, but a couple of times; the styles I had just came back from a smoke break and I can smell the smoke on her. Keep in mind, I don't smoke, and hate the smell of smoke. read more

Got a haircut today. Very stressful experience even with a photo. This place must have a time limit for cuts.....7 minutes max . Never again read more

Great service will definitely be back. Everything expected. Didn't ha e to wait for ever like you do at other places

Great Clips has yet to disappoint me! The barbers are all very nice, friendly and competent. Then again, my hair is pretty easy to cut. But still, they seem to actually know how to make your haircut look good from the get go, which I feel like is hard to find sometimes. That aside, the nice thing about Great Clips is that when you come in and ask for a certain cut or style, they take note of it so when you come in again, you can just ask for the same thing. They also have the name of the barber that you had if you want the same person. 5 for great clips. read more

I've been in twice so far. The first time the haircut was decent enough, but I don't remember the name of the stylist. The second time I got Candice, and she hooked me up. Gave me exactly what I wanted and it was inexpensive and quick. I'll be back and I'll be asking for Candice. read more

This place is hit or miss for me. Sometimes I'll get an awesome cut. Then there are times like where I'd get Lesselle and end up with one side burn and a weird line on the side of my head.. :( read more

I know that it's hit or miss sometimes with this type of place, but I just wanted to test out a shorter length Lob, because I wasn't sure I would like the style. I figured I could always pay to get it fixed if it was bad. I just had it cut by Ashley tonight, and she did just what I asked, and was very friendly. She showed me what she planned to do after I told her what I wanted, to make sure she understood before cutting. I'm happy with her service, even if the cut turns out not to be what I had hoped, because it's what I asked for. $16 plus tip is a fair price. read more

Ugh. I really hate getting my hair cut. Not because I'm afraid of cutting it, but because I hate having people I don't know right in my face. Which is why I love Great Clips. If you expect a nice salon visit, obviously you shouldn't come here. But I love coming here because it's really fast and really easy. Each time I've had different stylists, and they all did a good job. They're always really fast; sometimes my haircut is finished before the guys' haircuts. Plus, the price is great. For $21 I can get a nice, fast haircut and leave a good tip. Yay! read more

We've been going to the Davis location for years to get my now 10-year old's cut. We always went to the same person - Brenda, who did an excellent job cutting his hair, using scissors alone. We were so happy with her, I even followed her to Carmichael for a while when she had temporarily switched locations. Today, my son went with his dad to get a haircut, but Brenda is no longer there. Someone named Grace cut his hair instead and truly did a number on his head. The cut is absolutely atrocious. It is patchy all over, completely uneven, and she butchered his bangs too, leaving about 1/2 inch of zig-zaggy mess. I think even if someone intentionally tried to butcher a haircut, they couldn't do such a horrible job of it. Tried to call the manager and complain, but they are already closed. Will never go back again. read more

Where is the half star option, Yelp? This damn place has to be the WORST hair salon that will ever exist in our lifetime. They're all terribly bad. They charge $16 for a standard male cut, no student or military discount, and one of their stylers with lipstick is way too inconsistent--makes too many mistakes. I'd rather cut my own hair, or go to the hair salon right near Richards and Olive--they only charge $10 for students. The lady that I mentioned cut off a huge portion of my hair that I had gotten a very expensive perm on. She doesn't know how to blend in the hair, and she also hates having hair on herself, which makes you wonder why the hell she chose that job. If I were a rich entrepeneur, I'd shut this ridiculous place down. Nothing pisses me off more than spending $16 for the shittiest cut ever. read more

Did a very good job on my hair without rushing. Something I often encounter when I get haircuts elsewhere. I expected an 'okay' haircut but went out with a 'great' one. read more

I have had a couple of different stylists, and they all seem nice enough. I go back here, and it is a solid three stars. They do a good job. I like how they keep your record by your phone number: not just your name, but your last style. I thought it was pretty awesome that by simply entering my phone number into the computer, they knew right away what I wanted. (I am boring, so I enjoy the same style each visit) For convenience, I definitely will return again and again read more

It's hard to tell how to rate them. Highly variable. A couple years back I had a guy cut my hair who didn't speak english... that was hard. He asked me to pick out a photo from a magazine so I did. When he finished I pointed to the magazine picture and he said/pantamimed that it couldn't be done with my hair type. Would have been good to know before he started cutting. More recently I went back (because they're cheap/convenient) and have had reasonable experiences. I've stopped asking them to cut it a specific way though. I just say "make it look professional-no shorter than 1 inch". And that seems to work. read more

This is really a 2.5 star review. Service here vastly varies depending on the stylist you get. I take my kids here for haircuts when they are running coupon specials so its kinda like you get what you pay for. They are fine to do basic boys' haircuts such as #3 in back,#4 on top etc. but I would not go here to ask for a hard haircut. Right now they have a $5.99 deal with OptTown coupon ap so it's a pretty hard to pass up price. Most of the staff is friendly and the place is clean. read more

I was the first customer who came in today, there was no wait. I asked for a slick back with the sides faded and showed them a picture of what I wanted. The woman who helped me said she would do her best. As started fading the sides with a razor, but I pointed out that it was not even. She kept saying she was trying her best, but was not attending to the spot that I said was not even. She kept trying to fix things, but could not even give me an even cut with a razor. She got frustrated, told her manager to help me, and as she walked away, threw the hair apron in my mouth, probably by accidental. Either way, it was very unprofessional disrespectful. Service was lacking. No attention to detail. Bad haircut. read more

They didn't give me the haircut I asked for. Asked for a low fade but ended up getting a medium fade instead. She did a good job of doing fade but not what I asked for. Place was neat and staff was friendly. Just don't go 30 min before closing because they will rush your haircut like thy did to me. read more

Great Clips - Too high of a fade if you want a low fade - Hair Salons Near Me - Davis, California

All the women there smell like cigarettes and it was very unpleasant to sit there for for hours and have to breathe the smell even with a mask on. I had a headache the entire time. All they do is gossip and talk bad about customers. They did not do a good job on my hair either. OVER ALL DO NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE!!!! read more

My haircut lasted ten minutes. I wish they cut my hair more... great service but... didn't quite meet the Haircut is described

Literally the worst haircut I've received in my life. All I asked was for #2 on the sides and use scissors to thin out the top, somehow the stylist managed to totally mess this up. The hair on the top of my head is completely uneven and the sides certainly are not as short as a #2, no matter how much the lady insisted it was. Do yourself a favor and do not go here ever, there are much better hair cut places in Davis. Even with the 5.99 coupon I would argue that it is not worth it. read more

I've been getting my haircuts here ever since I moved to Davis last July. It's definitely my go to place for a nice haircut. I usually go when Haylee is working, she knows exactly how I want my haircut. Which is great since I have hard time explaining what I want. So if you check it out make sure to request Haylee she's a pro, oh and she's pretty hot so it's a win win. read more

It seems that each time I go here I have a new stylist that's cutting my hair. They are always friendly and seem to do pretty good job each time I go, well except one time. I recommend using their online app to check in. It cuts your wait time down and normally you can just walk in and be seated. Also keep an eye out in your mailbox and the local paper it seems they're always running some sort of coupon. read more

I like that this place is a cheap place for a guy to get a haircut in this town that doesn;t require clippers all the time. I usually just show up without an appointment and I get seated right away. Many of the girls that work there are very nice and even cut or style women's hair on a regular basis. I have been using the OptTown app to get deals on their hair cutting services. read more

Can't beat the price for a great hair cut!! :D I went in for the first time because I was tired of waiting for 2 weeks to get my hair cut at one of the high end salons in Davis. I only waited for a few minutes while my hair stylist got her chair ready. I think her name was Holly. She was very friendly and had an aura of experience that was quite comforting :) I'm definitely going back for my next hair cut. read more

I was really disappointed with my visit to this Great Clips. When I sat down, the stylist's station was covered in hair. I had to guide her more than I've ever had to guide a stylist and I was left with a really choppy cut. I had to ask her to involve another stylist in order to fix my 'do. There was no apology, which I thought was warranted, and I was still expected to pay full price--thank goodness for coupons. read more
