Hands down the most honest mechanic shop I have ever been to. For months, I was having a nagging issue with my car not starting. The problem was frustratingly inconsistent - sometimes everything worked, sometimes it would take 10 tries or more to fire up. I was resigned to the fact that I would probably need to replace the starter altogether (or something even more expensive). I went in and talked the problem over with Seth and Yoshi, who agreed that the starter would be the place to look. Yoshi went to check it out while Seth got a quote for a starter replacement, which would run $300-$400 with labor. After looking over the car, they found that the starter itself was fine and that the issue was just a relay - twenty minutes later, I was out the door after paying just $90 all in. There are SO MANY shops out there that would have just gone ahead with the starter replacement and taken the extra $300 (or more) that I was expecting to pay, even after finding out that there was a cheaper fix. When you find a mechanic shop that will do the honest thing and do right by the customer, you stick with them - no question, I will be taking my car to these guys for as long as I live in Phoenix. And as if that's not enough, Yoshi also fixed the skid plate on the front end of my car that had been hanging off for years, at no charge. It wasn't even something I asked about, they just saw the issue and took care of it for me. What more is there to say? I took my Civic here to get my car looked at because it was close to the AutoZone that lives in the same plaza. Thank God I did too, because these Grease Monkeys are some of the best damn people I've met that work on cars. At the time it was monsoon season in Phoenix and my skid plate--the cover underneath the engine of the car that protects some essential components from receiving damage--got torn off by some branches and floodwater. Daniel, one of the guys here, was super friendly and put in around an hour of free labor just to keep the metal from scraping the road. My biggest fear with car troubles is that I am most likely going to deal with dishonest mechanics telling my I need to spend 500 bucks when the fix is really only 80 bucks. I found grease monkey and found them to be honest every time I go there. When other shops tell me that it would cost 1500 bucks to fix my check engine light, grease monkey took my vehicle, ran some tests, and said it would be 80 bucks. This is because instead of telling me I needed a whole new catalytic converter, they found that my gas cap wasn't sealing right. So all they did was a simple fix and my car was just fine. My catalytic converter was just fine. Of all the times I have had to take my car into grease monkey, they have fixed the issue, and most importantly, I have never had to go back to them for the same problem. My old car had 285k miles on it and grease monkey helped me keep it road worthy well beyond it had any business going. Because of their honest business I will always seek them out to help me with any issues I have with my vehicles. They're good people. read more

I used to be a Jiffy Lube loyalist, but that changed today. I happened to see this Grease Monkey out of the corner of my eye, on my way to Jiffy Lube. I noticed there was no line, so I turned around and pulled in. In the first 3 minutes, I knew I made the right call. The staff were all very personable and friendly, and the manager was very engaging and you could tell he enjoys his craft. I would recommend Grease Monkey to anyone. While getting my oil changed I was told I needed new brakes, I was told "I would avoid driving it until you can get them changed, if it goes any further you will cause damage". I took it to another shop where they did a free inspection and showed me the brake pads, the front had 70% left, the front had 80% left. Get a second opinion!! read more

Horrible SERVICE at the Thunderbird and 40 th street LOCATION 3 strikes and your OUT, strike 1` had my oil changed several time and the final cost is NEVER what They say....ALWAYS SOMETHING. strike 2 replaced my struts for 260.00 and they didn't replace the strut mounts, charged me an additional 100.00 to replace the mounts 3 days later strike 3 dropped my car off at 8 in the morning (scheduled apt) to have the wheel bearing's replaced, I spent over 30.00 on uber that day while my car sat in their parking lot undone, 5:00 THAD the manager said not enough time to get it done and if i didn't like it to bad and come get your car This place goes thru employee's faster then Circle K or Mcdonald's BIG FAT F from me and I'll never use this service again read more

I took my car in to get the brakes and oil change done, as I had called in advance asking about those specific prices. I may have called back 3 times as I had continuously been asking questions. All of which were being answered by estimations. I got the brakes quoted at around $300, and the oil around $68.99 (full synthetic). I arrive and after only doing the brakes they then charged me $359.33. $60 dollar difference is a significant difference for being a college student with a fixed income. I nonetheless stayed respectful because I'm going to school to become a mechanic myself, but for bikes. I paid it with only one thing missing the oil change. They then told me it would an additional 1 hour and a half until it got done, on top of the 2 hours I had already waited. I had made sure to ask for brakes and oil change on the phone, but failed to reciprocate that to their mechanic somehow, and had put me last behind other people who arrived before me. Which sucked. I decided to go elsewhere. One last thing is the warranty for brakes, they say, is about a year but provided no such proof for the warranty. I won't be coming back. I'm sorry. OH they also just allow crackheads in the store where they say "they just grabbing water" all while taking sips and calling me out for being "a kid with a car." Like WHAT?! read more

My F-150 has had strange vibration and squeaking from the front brakes. I took it to other shops and they said everything was fine. I took it to Grease Monkey and they found a rusted pin on the passenger side that was wearing the brakes unevenly. The showed me the defective part so I knew what was wrong. Thad is very knowledgeable and honest! Hard to find in an auto repair shop these days. This shop does so much more than oil changes.
