Let me begin by saying my family has a long history in Grayling. We do not live there but have always been property owners and vacationers for hunting, snowmobiling and canoeing in Grayling. And the Grayling Restaruant is a staple, wait, more than that, a tradition. When you picture a local diner where the locals treat you like family and know who is from town and not and ask where you are from and have homemade deserts under a glass cake display...this is it. The food is traditional but the people are the most down to earth treat you like family you will find. Take a second and share a meal here with family and get back to the basics. read more

CINNAMON BUN PANCAKES!!!! Seriously, if anything, get the pancakes with the drizzle. I swear to G, these were the best pancakes I've ever had...EVER. They were swirled with brown sugar and lots of cinnamon and I can't even describe what was going on in my body while eating these. Also, our waitress (Brenda?? I can't remeber!!) but she was amazing. Like, seriously, I loved her and she knew it . The other food we had was also really delicious, but I will never forget this pancake. read more

This was my second time coming, and once again, it was great. I ordered the lumberjack plate, the eggs were good, but the American Fries were out of this world - with just a little salt and pepper, the ordinary becomes extraordinary - and I would definitely recommend. This is pretty much a last ditch resort as a somewhat dingy diner. It's outdated and cramped inside with overall bland food. My friends and I were passing through this town because it's along the I-75/127 interchange coming from the U.P. on our way back home, so we choose this stop out of convenience. I started with a cup of chili that was at least chocked full of filling meat and beans, but could have really used the creaminess of cheese, freshness of green onions/onions/peppers and a kick more of seasoning. My turkey wrap looked haphazardly put together. I've never gotten a wrap in which the ends were not tucked in. The cranberries and walnuts are actually a part of the Dijon mustard dressing, not separate entities, so that the mixture is just one big amalgamation that ends up blending together in flavor and texture. The chips on the side looked like a dumped out bag of plain wavy generic brand. Lastly, the hyped-up gourmet cookie for dessert looked as if they came from a box. It might be a better bet to stop at a fast food restaurant chain if you're wanting quick food along this route. read more

A great diner for a stopover driving up the Michigan peninsula. It's been there since the 30s and has old pictures all round the walls. The service was quick and cheerful and lots of locals were there. I dared to try the cabbage soup (I'm normally vegetarian) and it was as promised, delicious. The four of us had various dishes which were all good. Thoroughly recommended if you want an honest old-fashioned diner experience. read more

Stopped with a group of six based on their 4 star rating and we all agreed - 4 stars! A couple had omelettes and they really liked them. A couple others had breakfast specials. This place is great if you're just looking for a cozy, cheap, good diner for a solid breakfast. I'm a huge fan of breakfast diners and can say that the food here is above average and the prices are spot on for what they should be. I got the veggie omelette with hashbrowns and toast, overall I'd say it was better than I was expecting! The veggies were really fresh even in the winter months so that was nice. This is a nice diner. It screams Up North Michigan with its nostalgic decor. Some could argue it needs some updating, but the shabbiness is part of the charm. The breakfasts were tempting, but we decided on soup and salad. We were disappointed that the weight watcher cabbage soup was sold out. The chili for the day was a traditional recipe, but they have more creative recipes on other days. Service was very prompt and friendly. The soup arrived quickly. I had chicken and wild rice. It was very tasty. My husband had the French onion. It wasn't particularly hot. The home made croutons were a nice touch. The salad was quite ordinary..lettuce, cucumbers, orangish tomatoes with toasted pita triangles. The chipotle ranch was a nice spicy touch. This is a convenient stop when travelling in northern Michigan. I'd like to give the breakfast a try. read more

Found ourselves in town and needed a good breakfast. We had oatmeal (added blueberries) and cinnamon swirl pancakes. Both were excellent. Service was top notch as they checked back often to see if we needed anything. Would definitely recommend to our friends and will visit next time we are in town. And we didn't use the 10% Yelp coupon as it was "Grayling appreciation days" and she gave us 10% off our bill before we even asked. read more

This restaurant is my default breakfast choice when I am in town. I've eaten here with parties sized from 2-5 and we've always been accommodated nicely. The waitstaff is prompt and appears to have things under complete control. I've had omelettes, the breakfast burrito, and the breakfast sandwich, all of which were satisfactory. The waitress asked me if I would care for hot sauce with my meal before receiving it. This was a welcome change as at most restaurants this usually happens after you receive your meal. The menu advertises that they use meat products from a local company, Plath's Meats. I'm sure they could use the standard food service company meat selection, but the fact that they branch out earns them credit in my book! read more

This place came highly recommended by our hotel. The restaurant is small, usually packed, but the service is quick. There are way too many delicious sounding choices on the menu, we ended up getting the Lumberjack Breakfast both days we stopped in because it was very filling. Stopped in for breakfast on our way south after reading some positive reviews and we were not disappointed!!! Delicious breakfast with Texas toast and Plath's sausage. They feature all of plath's meats like polish sausage and smoked chops! Fast and friendly. They have coffee shop coffee, which is not my favorite, too weak for me. I really liked the feel of this place. Great little old skool diner with neat newspaper articles from Pearl Harbor on the walls...nostalgic. Cute little town too...I've never been there before. The food was pretty good, I had a spinach & feta omelette ..it was good. Kids had a buffalo chicken wrap that she said wasn't that good, but I couldn't say either way...her onion rings tasted very good, nice and thick like I like them. I didn't particularly like their coffee...something about a certain type of coffee a lot of restaurants seem to have that is just gross. I was in Grayling this morning and had 45 minutes to spare before a business meeting, so I decided to head downtown and find breakfast. I wandered into the Grayling Restaurant and immediately felt at ease. The atmosphere is exactly what I hoped - just like the northern MI family restaurants from when I was a kid. Awesome service and food, good prices... It fit the bill perfectly. I'll be eager to find another excuse to pass through Grayling at breakfast time. :) read more
