This was just okay. I was disappointed with the Mexican omelette it was dry even with sour cream and salsa. The rye toast I got wasn't good I didn't like the texture it was dusty in your mouth if that makes sense. The other people I was with got wheat and said it was amazing so get wheat and not rye! The eggs and steak were okay. It took quite a while to get our food. We weren't really greeted upon entering and never having been there before we weren't sure if we needed to seat ourselves or wait so a sign would have been nice and helpful for those not from the areas read more

The Villager is a favorite of ours and has been for years. For us it is under new ownership since November but the quality of the food and service has not missed a beat. On a busy morning we were seated and waited on quickly. The wait staff is very warm and friendly. Inside is a nice atmosphere including countertop and table seating. I had a Farmers omelette that included hash browns and choirs of home made toast. My wife had the Villager Special; two eggs, hash browns, a choice of meats. She chose crispy bacon, 4 slices! This is my breakfast place of choice in Lewiston. Omelettes are outstanding. When you say local or mom and pop you can't get any more mom and pop. They are both working there. Pop is cooking, mom is taking orders and doing whatever else is needed. I've had their daughter wait on me also. They are some of the nicest and kindest people you will meet. Their hospitality alone is enough to bring you back. The rest of the staff is friendly and on their game also. Today I went for the Irish omelette. It's 3 eggs, Swiss cheese, onions and corn beef hash. It's outstanding. It comes with great hash browns (crispy outside and soft inside). I've tried to duplicate and said screw it I'll just enjoy them when I'm in town. Lol. It also includes toast. Free refills on your coffee. All this for $7.85. In the past I've had biscuits and gravy, pancakes (even do Mickey Mouse for the kids), eggs Benedict. All fresh/ homemade and all outstanding. They even have tons of toast choices and all home made. Some choices are cinnamon, raisin, white, wheat, sunflower, rye. I've had them all and all great. I'm a corn beef hash lover and they have the best in my opinion. Tasty and not too salty. This is my breakfast spot almost every morning when I'm up north at the cottage on East Twin Lake. My Grandpa used to come up here every single morning and buy donuts for the whole family during the summer. They've since stopped doing donuts but they do still make all of their own bread. Either way, it's been a staple for my family for decades. To me, The Villager signifies the beginning of summer at the lake, which is very special. It represents so much more than sustenance it represents sunsets over the lake, sandy feet, family gatherings, and beautiful mornings sleeping in. Realistically we probably eat at the Villager 4-5 times a year at most but I totally feel like a regular. The waitresses and cooks and even some of the other locals are always warm and welcoming. My Wife and Daughter walk in the door and the employees always remember us every year. I love this place. Also, most importantly the food is always fresh and fantastic. They make all of their own bread and the bread is always the star of the show. read more

Wow, very nice place. Great Northern hometown place to get a great breakfast. It is friendly and clean. I had eggs and corn beef hash with the homemade sourdough bread. Cooked just right and a good portion. Nicole did a great job with keeping up on coffee and friendly conversation. They also have a bread bakery as you come in the door. Doesn't get any better. We love the Villager. However, we ate there last Saturday and were very distressed to see people without masks and a cavalier attitude towards the health mandates. People came in without masks and walked around. No one asked them to please put on a mask. One of the servers was wearing a mask around her chin. Lot of good that did. This virus is no joke and we take it very seriously. So should restaurants. We will choose not to go there. read more

All of the breakfasts are outstanding, but be warned that the portions are HUGE! In the summer months, we actually get up at 6am to go for a run, just so we can eat a guilt-free breakfast at The Villager afterwards :) If you want a light breakfast, go for the breakfast sandwich. If you need a large meal to get your day started, I highly recommend the corned beef hash breakfast. Pancakes are also excellent (but I try to avoid carbs so I usually skip these), and the bacon is somehow always cooked to perfection (I like it undercooked, hubs likes it super crispy, and yet we are both satisfied!) If you have trouble choosing a toast option, all the toast is baked in-house, so you can't really go wrong (but I vote for the raisin!) On Sundays you can grab a loaf of their cinnamon-raisin bread, which makes for a FABULOUS quickie dessert if you have people coming over. Place is clean, waitstaff is energetic and super friendly! Heads-up, this is a CASH only establishment. read more

I was a little nervous when I entered this weekend alone. I felt like the few people in the dining room made sure I knew they knew I wasn't from the area. The villager makes some of the best pancakes in northern Michigan. Their portions are nothing to laugh at either with their silver dollar pancakes being larger than the dinner plate they serve them on! They have a good selection of choices and their homemade bread is excellent too. One slice or their homemade toast is equivalent to at least 3 slice of store bought bread. They also have a small bakery when you first walk in where you can buy their homemade bread and doughnuts. read more
