A group of eight called ahead to tell them we were coming. There truly are only 12 tables. So the heads up was helpful. It's a small clean restaurant The waitress was awesome. Took our drink orders delivered them and continued with our food orders. A variety of choices were made and each and everyone received their order. Food was good we would return. read more

This cute chicken themed little restaurant really has 12 tables. Service was great. As was the iced coffee. I got toasted coconut. Now for the food, freshly made. Not fast food so don't worry when you get it you know it was made fresh. I got the Sticky chicken wrap. Hot honey glaze with lettuce tomato and shredded cheese. Hubby got Italian sandwich which was thick and hot and had a brilliant flavor. We both got the cold side of pickle potato salad. Not bad, not dill pickle just fresh cucumber, try it! Wish I would have gotten salt and pepper fries they sounded good. Someone got banana foster pancakes at another table and they looked amazing and the little child's eyes lite right up! read more

I don't know why it took so long for me to try this place! The food was excellent, I had the Michigan salad and the special tomato/basil soup and both were exceptional. Sally had the soup & sandwich special a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. It was so busy that we agreed to share our table with another group of diners and we had a good visit. Food and service were fantastic. Surprised to find this gem in the middle of the country. We are on a small roads trip from central Ohio stopping each day for lunch at a diner. This has been the best so far. Portions were huge. A surprisingly large selection of breakfast and lunch items. I got the western omelet with hashbrowns and the omelet was stuffed and as long as the plate. Hubby got the Banana Foster French toast and he loved it. The bread looked homemade and it was very large and sliced thick. The wheat toast was delicious! We had 4 in our party and everyone loved their food. The coffee was especially good on this freezing spring day. The restaurant was packed which says something. Only 12 tables means you probably will have a wait. Because the weather was bad and it was a Tuesday they were very busy at 1:00. A place like this could be open through the dinner hour but sadly they close at 2:00. Ellie's is THE spot to start your day- omelettes cooked to perfection EVERY time (I'm not joking), perfectly crispy cooked hash browns made fresh daily (not frozen, and never dry). Their marble rye toast is my FAVORITE to pair with any breakfast option. They also have gluten free bread options! You will never go wrong stopping here for breakfast or lunch. My only qualm is that they close every day at 2pm. And trust me, you don't want to go anywhere else for food here. The waitresses are so friendly and fun too! read more

Well, we are always rolling by Ellie's and never seem to make their hours 7:00 AM till 3:00 PM. But, after an amazing late lunch today this is going to become a regular for us! There are actually 12 tables and they were all full. Menu is a pretty extensive breakfast collection and a modest burger and sand which menu for lunch. We had burgers, bean and ham soup, salad, chicken strips, and a grilled cheese at our table and all of it was excellent. This burger was the BEST burger I have had out in a long time. The regular fries have a seasoning on them and they are awesome. Wait staff was attentive and efficient. Decor is country, cows, roosters and old kitchen goods. This place is a high flyer after our meal today, I will surely be back for breakfast soon! read more

We are long time seasonal residents and make the rounds of all the local places. The new name is 'Ellie's Twelve Tables'. The decor has been freshened, the dining area is clean and neat. Our waitress needed a fresh uniform but was friendly and helpful, quick with refills. The menu goes beyond the usual eggs and bacon, nice variety. The coffee was good, our meals very flavorful. Ellie's many be the best breakfast / lunch place in town. Update 8/19: we still enjoy the food here, but we're not enjoying the really loud music. You get coffee but no pot for you to refill your empty coffee cup. Why do you have to request a straw to drink your pop or water out of the glass. The hamburger was ok. Shockingly Good! A local went out of her way to recommend this place to me for dinner. My wife and I both had the Ribeye special with the veggie of the day, which was broccoli. The broccoli was to perfection. It was grilled and just hard enough to have some snap while being soft enough to chew and enjoy. And the steak! It was great and truly hit the spot. My wife and I ate breakfast at Ellie's this morning and had an excellent breakfast with superb service. My wife appreciated that they have gluten free bread option. I had the breakfast turnover with eggs and it was the perfect breakfast. The place well kept and has a nice interior decor of being in a cozy cabin. Restrooms were very clean. Great burgers, good fries. Everyone enjoyed their food. bathroom was also clean. Lots of neat little nic-nacs sitting around to look at.

The parking area was clean, the restaurant was clean. The server took approximately 5 minutes to even recognize we were there, other than to tell us sit where we would like. Out of the 12 tables there were only 2 other tables seated when we arrived, making it even more difficult to accept the disinterest of the server. When we finally did order the food we received was worth about half what they were charging. My omelette (A farmers) was $9 with poorly made has browns and came with cheap sliced cheese on the top; it reminded me more of something you would get as a $4 breakfast special than a $9 omelette. My wife had to actually remind our server to bring her her drink that she had ordered. The overall price of 2 breakfasts was around $25. This included a cup of coffee, an omelette and one of their restaurant specialty breakfasts. The decor is interesting and draws you in, and I imagine if you're a local you love this place. The server seemed more interested in hob-knobbing with people she appeared to know than to take care of other paying customers. When I saw their rating was so high I looked through other reviews and understand that most of them are from people that live locally. The sign outside boasts "The best rated restaurant in Mio!" After driving around a bit we realized they are THE only sit down restaurant open for breakfast so the boast is not a stretch, considering the competition. There are very few redeeming qualities about this restaurant, so if youre looking for a nice family diner to sit down and be treated with any attention or pay a decent price for a decent meal, Id look elsewhere. If youre coming from down state, stop at Mac's place in West Branch instead (vastly better service and vastly better food), or simply keep driving to somewhere, anywhere else. McDonalds is a better option. read more
