To the point where I was worried about the sustainability of such a big menu given the small-town environment of Alcona County. Nevertheless, I was happy that Rox's opened in Lincoln because if anyone knows and truly understands the area in the context of the wider, bigger world outside county lines, they know that businesses like this are sorely needed . But the big worry was whether that large a menu was sustainable for the long run. Whether we ordered takeout or sit inside for lunch, my family and I always felt cared for and appreciated. Then COVID happened. No lie, I was concerned for them because from Day 1 of opening, Rox's Diner worked hard to support the community and be a welcoming place for everyone. We needed a place like Rox's to make it through the darkest of times, not just for themselves but for the village. But they survived. The menu has been pared back now and has become more tightly focused. I think that was a good move because it allows the staff to concentrate on making what they're now offering THAT MUCH BETTER. I appreciate the original aim to offer as much as possible, to try to satisfy as many wide-ranging tastes as possible, but sometimes, that can be a bit overreaching. Being great at a few things versus being mediocre at a lot of things because of spreading oneself out too thinly is sometimes a better choice in the end. So with my most recent visit to Rox's, I was again very satisfied with my lunch.
