We had a group of eight for breakfast this morning. Our server was very detail oriented and did not get a single order wrong. She was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. I wish I had gotten her name I had biscuits and gravy with a fried egg on top-very flavorful, good biscuits, and tasty gravy. The eggs were cooked perfectly for over easy. It is a diner/café style atmosphere-a little bit loud, but that is expected in a large open room. Will definitely eat here next time I am in the area. read more

Ordered an omelet , and it was clearly the best omelet ive ever eaten. Ive had many omelets from many different places, and they may taste different but mostly the same as far as u can tell it was rushed to meet demand. Connies made me an omelete like I was the only customer in there, and it showed. Definitely recommend read more

This place is known for its giant grilled cinnamon rolls so we had to try one, but we also ordered an omelette. Of course the cinnamon roll was phenomenal but the omelette impressed me even more. They use real butter, fresh cracked eggs, and serve homemade jam with your toast. It really makes a difference. We got there just as it opened and it filled up quickly. This is clearly the best restaurant in town. read more

Back again for breakfast. Arrived at 8:30 on a Saturday and the dining room was almost full. Good reason; Connie serves great breakfasts. I ordered the pot roast skillet with redskin potatoes and cinnamon toast. Why change your a good thing. I believe it was even better today. My husband and ordered the same and was a happy camper. What an awesome way to start the day. read more

Wow! I was told to come here for their awesome cinnamon rolls and breakfast...but I was surprised to see the beautiful garden (Garden of Dreams) and also met the owner, Connie, a 13 year cancer survivor. What a beautiful place and an amazing lady. (The service and food was great, too, and WOW...the huge grilled cinnamon roll was crazy good...ate the rest later for lunch)! 100% would recommend coming here if you're in the area! read more

OMG! So good. Ok, you need to get the cinnamon bun. Don't say it is too big LOL. Absolutely delish. It was a little cramped because there were so many people. This is a place to be sure to go. You won't be disappointed read more

The first thing that hit me as I walked in the door was the smell of cinnamon rolls, toast and bread baking. Completely irresistible! The restaurant itself is large, open and airy. It feels very welcoming. I had the Philadelphia cheesesteak omelette. It came with toast (I had rye, but I keep forgetting that rye away from home has caraway seeds and generally isn't the kind I'm used to) and homemade jam. It wasn't huge, but it was still more than I could eat, and I ended up taking half of it with me. I had to get a cinnamon roll -- they truly are huge -- and I got some cookies to give to my family on Easter. So glad I read the reviews and came here! read more

So glad we stopped for brunch at Connie's Cafe! Our Popeye Omelettes and hash browns were super tasty. Not drowning in oil like so many restaurants do. In fact, there was no trace of oil to be found. Instead Connie's let the natural flavor of the food shine through. The homemade toast was so light, fluffy and toasted to perfection! Great job ladies! We will definitely be back! read more

Always friendly staff, good food. The garden room needed a good cleaning last time I was there though.

The cutest little place with amazing breakfast! We've been going here 20ish years and it's our absolute favorite. We look forward to it every trip up north. read more

I've had many different breakfast's here and everyone of my visits have been top notch. Connie's just knows how to do it right. There is a screened porch dining as well as the indoor area. Nice view of Connie's gardens. It's not a huge dining area but sufficient and not really noisy. It is quieter outside. Had The Popeye Omelette. It's a nice 3 egg omelette with large portions of ingredients plus potatoes and homemade bread & jam. Also we had a fried chicken sandwich with fries and coke slaw, and Old Fashioned Ham Breakfast. All were delicious and plenty to eat. Connie's is more than worth the trip but cone between 10:15 - 11:30 if you want to avoid the crowd. Weekends will have long waits. read more

Connie's rocks !!!! Connie's has the "BEST" omelettes our family has tasted in quite sometime. Not only, were they cooked "SUPER SOFT" as we requested the inside ingredients we ordered (build your own) was truly delicious. The ham, spinach, broccoli & onions O M G...tasty as hell!!! The ham was special, as it was not dry or sliced too thin. YUM! NOTHING worse than over cooked eggs or paper thin dry ham...Connie's gets it right as they delivered a hearty scrumptious omelette. The only constructive criticism "IF I MAY" .... the avocado was "very green" ...unripe avocado is not good. Our family LOVES avocados...we were in the produce business at one point (many moons ago) & it's best not to serve at all. Unripe avocados leave a lingering unpleasant taste in one's mouth, so I skipped it. It did NOT interfere with my omelette as I asked to have it served on the side. BTW! IF you are a "cinnamon roll" fan don't miss out on their ENORMOUS cinnamon rolls as they are pretty darn tasty. A+ for service!! Highly recommend! ENJOY *Special Note: Their cancer survivor garden outback was very thoughtful and pretty cool! IF you sit on the covered patio area inside the restaurant you can visualize the garden. Cancer survivors are the TRUE warriors!!! read more

Quintessential northern Michigan eatery serving up the weekly Friday Fish FRY. Great service and delicious home-made comfort food - pretty standard affair on a typical Friday night up north. The fish and chips were pretty solid. Nice flavorful thin/crispy batter, large portions...pretty good. Great fries, tasty coleslaw, chicken pot pie soup - excellent. Not quite the memorable fish and chips you can find in Michigan but definitely "Jones satisfying" worthy. Hope that makes sense. I know this place is very well know for its breakfast and other vittles. I'd Definitely here again based on the service alone. Full of locals so that pretty much tells the story there. read more

This is a review of the cinnamon roll only. We were craving donuts and couldn't find a local donut shop so we decided that a cinnamon roll would suffice. We had heard some great things about Connie's from some local friends and so we decided to grab a jumbo cinnamon roll for breakfast. They aren't kidding when they say it's jumbo! It was a very good cinnamon roll. Great roll to frosting ratio. When we got home we popped it in the microwave for about 25 seconds and served it along side some scrambled eggs for a great little breakfast. read more

Connie's Cafe - 1/2 a cinnamon roll. - American Near Me - Ossineke, Michigan

Let me be clear - more than just about anything else at the time, I wanted to absolutely love Connie's Cafe. From the moment I walked in everything about Connie's screamed all star local spot that I was going to rave about for years to come. While the service and small town atmosphere really did charm me, the food itself fell a bit short of my high expectations. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Connie's is everything a small town breakfast diner should be with friendly folks, a strong sense of community, and an adorable population of regulars who make it a household name in the area. On a snowy late morning I couldn't have felt any more cozy. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Everything on the menu at Connie's is reasonable to include their $5.00 jumbo grilled cinnamon roll, which is enough to easily feed four people. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? So it's here that things fell a little bit short of expectation. The jumbo cinnamon roll was fine, but my breakfast with corned beef hash, eggs, hash browns and sausage was on the weak side with mediocre and soft potatoes, what tasted like canned corned beef hash, and pretty standard eggs and sausage. Everything needed hot sauce, which is typically my marker for a decent but not great breakfast. Single Star. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Again I wanted to adore Connie's from the very beginning as I did Alpena and the surrounding towns, but the food itself simply fell a bit short. No Star. read more

Hungry after exploring, we stopped in to see what they had to eat. It was two in the afternoon and service was s-l-o-w. I ordered a club sandwich and it came without the bacon, otherwise it was ok. Husband had a burger that he enjoyed. Kids had typical chicken fingers and grilled cheese (on Texas toast) - both were pretty decent. After seeing and smelling somebody's onion rings, we ordered those too - they were just ok. Ordered the cinnamon roll to go - it too, was just ok. Not as flavorful as we had hoped. Overall, it was decent, but nothing we HAVE to go back for. read more

5 stars all the way when it comes to breakfast in this area. The cinnamon rolls and massive, cheap, and delicious...get a couple to go. Breakfast cost is very reasonable and portions are generous. Coffee refills are consistently fast. Always a regular stop when we pass thru this area. Take some time to read about the owner and their family as well. Nice folks. read more

If this is on the way, you must add this to your to do list! Or make a detour to Connie's because it is well worth the mileage! It's by far one of the best breakfast joints in northern Michigan. Food is fresh, homemade, the portions are large and in charge. Each dish is made to perfection with the real fix'er up kind of feel. You can tell the food doesn't come from Gordon's food services, it's truly an authentic masterpiece. Takes you right back to how grandma used to cook. Everything on the menu is jam packed with flavor! I haven't tried anything yet that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. You name it, the baked goods, dumpling soup, breakfast skillets, omelettes, chicken, chips and sandwiches...all amazing! You have to try their homemade bread. Everyday they make it fresh and you can even get a loaf to go. Eating grocery store bread after you taste Connie's will never be the same. read more

Home cooked with home sized portions.....except for the cinnamon roll (could probably feed 4 )

Cute little place with a nice little screened in (porch) area. Super clean and very friendly staff. The waitress was sweet and efficient. The pot roast skillet was a bit underwhelming, very bland and needed seasoning desperately. The weakest cup of coffee ever!!! Come on guys get on the coffee bandwagon. read more
