Because my VW Tiguan took six quarts of oil I ended up paying $75.83 for this bumper to bumper service. I have no problem with the quality of the service, but I do have a problem with the deceptive nature of the coupon. This reeks of "bait and switch" and they should make the language on their coupon state it is only good for five quarts.

I've been a customer here for several years, but an inflated estimate has me looking elsewhere…read moregoing forward. Got a timing belt estimate here that came in at just over $4,000, more than double what two other shops quoted me for the same job (around $1,600 each), and neither of those quotes lumped in unrelated work. A few things left me scratching my head: Spark plug replacement (~$520) was bundled into the timing belt job automatically, just because it falls at the same mileage interval, not because it was requested or related to the actual repair. An "Inspect Valve Lash" charge ($253.90) was billed as a separate labor line, despite overlapping with the teardown already being done for the belt job. A "Convenience Fee" ($112.89) was added on top of a separate "Job Supplies" fee ($86.43). I have no idea what these charges would consist of. Parts pricing on the spark plugs and water pump came in noticeably above typical market rates, even accounting for OEM brands. This is a genuinely expensive job on this engine (considering my car is over 21 years old ), and I don't have an issue with using OEM parts. But between the unrelated add-on work, the inspection charge, and the stacked fees, a significant chunk of this estimate had nothing to do with the actual timing belt repair. Their estimate had an option to text with questions. I send some questions for clarification four days ago and I have not heard back. After years of bringing my vehicles here, this estimate has got me shopping around for a new regular shop. Something has changed. I hope betting $2400 at the risk of losing a long-term customer was worth it.

I am always a bit trepidatious when going to a new oil place because I have definitely had my share…read moreof places that try to sell me things I don't need. Pfefferle, was not one of those places. I pulled into the driveway to get my car serviced and it was packed. I almost left because I figured it may be awhile, but the tech assured me that it was only going to take about 30 minutes or so and with, all my traveling, I can tell you my car Is probably running on mud right now instead of oil... yikes. So, 30 minutes wasn't too horrible. I went inside and most of the chairs were full in the waiting room, but they had a tv playing horrible soap operas and a full pot of fresh coffee. I stood around for a few, and realized they had a stack of magazines that had some unusual titles. I'm an artsy type and they had, sitting on the top of the stack, "International Artist." I was pleased and parked my butt in an empty seat. The guy at the front desk was very nice and took my info. My car has lots o miles, so I told him I wanted the oil that would make it purr like a kitten again instead of an asmatic old lion. I presented a coupon to him and he nodded in acknowledgement. I sat back down and watched him greet several of the regulars by name, and that's always a good thing in my book. After awhile they came in and showed me how dirty my air filter was and I cringed... I knew this visit would entail more than an oil change because it had been a pretty long time since I'd brought my car in for service. After about 10 more minutes he came in and said my serpentine belt was bad, and I had a feeling it was so that was no shocker. Well, my 30 minutes turned to about an hour. Not a huge deal, but I think they had to order my serpentine belt from another shop. What I am bummed about is that they didn't tell me, and my boyfriend overheard them ordering it from another shop. Had they set that expectation of my wait, I would have been fine. When I was all done and ready to pay, the guy told me that my coupon wasn't valid because I used a more expensive oil. I probably looked like someone kicked my puppy because the original guy never told me that. For a high mileage oil change, fluid top off, air filter, and serpentine belt I was looking at $160. After he realized the first guy had been told about my coupon, he gave me a $10 discount. I was happy again! He also gave me a loyalty card that gives me my 6th oil change free. Bonus!! The thing I liked the most about them, is that they could tell my car had some issues while starting, and they offered some ideas and mentioned that the auto shop up the street was theirs too. I can say that I will definitely be back here, and I may even try out their auto shop. The service was great, and my car's asthma is silenced for a bit. :P

That was after the $75 off coupon I had. Said they drove it 20 miles and it was fixed. Within 30 days after the repair, I started smelling and seeing the burning oil again. I called to let them know and they told me to bring it back so they can look at it again. It wasn't terrible and I never had oil under my truck when parked. I did not take it back. Instead after a few months I took it to another independent auto care. They diagnosed the problem as a torn valve cover gasket and stated there were several bolts loose and one the was striped. They recommended I take it back to Parkway but I had this other auto care take care of it as I had lost faith in Parkway Automotive. The other auto care replaced the valve cover and vacuum seal. That cost was $785,11. Over $1,000 difference in price and more work done. It's unfortunate that they overcharged me so much and did such a poor job in the repair. I will never do business with them again and expect if they overcharged others and do poor repairs, they will lose a lot of business to other auto care businesses. Very disappointed and they should be ashamed.
