It is the perfect place to study, work, have a coffee with a friend, relax. There are two floors, both very clean and aesthetically pleasing. I opted for the biscuits and gravy and hot blueberry latte. The coffee was too sweet for me, but the flavor was there. I loved the blueberry syrup, but prefer less next time. The locals, mostly old folks and retirees treat the place like they own it. They come in and spend a couple bucks on a cup of black coffee and then they don't leave. They just sit and talk, taking up valuable space where a paying customer should be sitting. I was there today and the place was packed, nowhere to sit, because of people like this. If you love strong and sweet coffee, come here!! I discovered 1893 thanks to social media and word of mouth. I knew the coffee was great because after the first sip, I started drinking it like water. So good, smooth, and strong! 1893 has easily landed in my top 3 coffee spots in Lincoln. I can't comment too much on the ambiance because I used the drive through. They have a menu outside, but currently (February 2026) the speaker isn't working. Customers have to order at the window. However, it wasn't a big deal. My drink was ready in less than 5 minutes. Employees were very friendly and made my drink perfectly. I'd love to come back and enjoy the inside of their space. It looked cute, cozy and quaint inside. But that's not why I give this place 5 stars. The space itself is excellent. It's comfortable, cozy and inviting, despite a tricky location. It's well designed and lit and has a giant window to view that actual roaster. But that's not why I give it five stars. The people love coffee... Like, they looooooove coffee! And they know coffee. I went in and they said "How can we help you?" And I said "I want to buy coffee, but I don't know what I want." And both employees lit up. They know the coffee language AND how to explain it to a novice without making you feel like a novice. And the more feedback you give, the better their next suggestion will be. The team here is camped right at the intersection of passion and knowledge and their love for it is contagious. It held all of the ingredients together nicely (did not fall apart, which is always appreciated). Plus, the sesame seeds also did not fall off which I was pleasantly surprised about.
