This is the kind of place you hope to happen upon in your travels…read more We were staying at the Spalding Lakes Campground and noticed in their reviews that many of the guests who has stayed for any extended period of time raved about Rise n' Shine. We were sold. When we drove up and saw the parking lot nearly filled to capacity we knew that was a very good sign. Things just kept going up, up, up from there. Friendly Michigan folks holding the door open for us as we walked up. Offering up suggestions of what was good to eat when we inquired. Being greeted by a friendly hostess, visited by Angel, the owner, and a super friendly waitress. They really do a great job at making you feel welcome. Hearty, home style cooking done very well at a super fair price. I got the chicken fried steak with homemade sausage and gravy, eggs, red potatoes and toast. The perfect amount of food to get you through a full morning without giving you way too much. The hubby got the eponymously named Rise n' Shine breakfast with bacon, sausage, eggs, red potatoes and a biscuit and sausage gravy. The bacon was perfectly smoky and the single biscuit and gravy half filled the entire breakfast plate. I'm not a biscuits and gravy type of gal but this plate would make anyone reconsider that stance. I highly recommend Rise n' Shine. Angel stopped and chatted with us and made us feel like long lost friends. The people here like their jobs and make you feel special for stopping by. Whether it is your first or 300th visit.

We were fortunate to snag a table for two on a Saturday morning, but I would recommend…read morereservations, as they were hopping. We had friendly and attentive service and the food came out hot and quickly. There is a small patio out front on the sidewalk with three or four tables. My husband said he is going to be dreaming about the peaches and cream French toast for days to come. I also enjoyed the BAART, a riff on the BLT with avocado and arugula. Would definitely return.

This place was bustling!! It seems like a very popular spot! We just had the two of us and were seated at a small two person table between two other close tables - located alongside a long booth bench against the wall that breaks up into individual seating spots. This was totally fine for our breakfast that morning but it's not something I'd prefer if you like your privacy in conversation or otherwise. ;) The service was slow to start but after our waitress came she was mostly attentive the rest of our meal. We ordered 2 coffees. These were stronger and much more delicious than your average "diner cup"!! The staff offered a couple of refills throughout our time. I really loved the simplicity of the menu! There are options with a great variety, but it's still concise and not overwhelming!! Our dishes came out within 10 minutes of ordering, extremely fast and was surprising! My husband ordered the Huevos Rancheros with chorizo and he enjoyed it! The flavors were bold and the plate was pleasing to the eyes except for the avocado which was looked like it was quickly turning. I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and had super high expectations for this entree!! It looked so beautiful upon arrival but when I began eating I quickly realized the dish was quite cool! My first half came with a well done poached egg which was disappointing. The second piece was cooked perfectly but was also just not very warm. The hollandaise sauce had wonderful flavor, but again, just wasn't warm - it seemed like the dish had maybe been sitting. I think this dish could be outstanding at the right temperature!! The potatoes that accompany this entree were a little dry for my liking but my husband thought they were good!! :) We noticed other tables with special lattes and several parties being served decadent looking sweet breakfast options - those all looked delicious!! There was a super kind and outgoing waitress serving nearby tables, explaining all kinds of special choices, like lovely latte options that were being offered that morning. The way she so kindly described everything sounded delicious but unfortunately our waitress didn't welcome our table with that same level of hospitality. What we saw being ordered by those nearby was met with great happiness when it arrived to them!! :)

The salads are dry and crisp cut to perfection. I had the Chicken Parmesan and loved every bite. The service is excellent, you are welcomed as soon as you arrive and your table, menus and water are brought to you by a smartly dressed man or lady before your server arrives. Ericka was our server and she was absolutely fantastic. Tended to our every need, she was patient with us as we decided what we would have. The menu is varied and has MANY different dishes that I would definitely try. Ericka chatted with us and made us feel right at home. We live in North Carolina now. The place feels homey and classy at the same time. Thank you for a WONDERFUL meal.

I ordered the Gyro with onion rings. It was promptly served, steaming hot and absolutely delicious. As you can see from the photo, I ordered the baklava. I have never seen a piece of baklava that large before. Staff were courteous, helpful, and provided great conversation. You could tell from the people entering that this is a staple in the area, so I would suggest that if you're ever in Niles, you swing by and enjoy their homemade food and incredible desserts.
