Great local spot for interesting and tasty breakfast options. They have an extensive menu that includes the standards as well. I ordered the GOAT avocado, lox, poached eggs and while grain toast. It comes out 'unassembled' which was a bit strange but satisfying all the same. I am having a hard time with having to pay to park on the street in Dedham to visit local these local spots. And there is a one hour max. Someone needs to figure this out as it will make it difficult for me to justify paying to park to eat in a restaurant in the suburbs read more

I have been back to the diner 5 or 6 times since my first review, and each time has been a terrible disappointment. Last weekend was the last visit for me and my family... service was insanely slow and 2 out of 3 of us had hair in our food. The food runner's belly was hanging out of her shirt as she served us. The whole place feels dirty. On previous visits the food was inconsistent, service slow and silverware, mugs etc had to be replaced for clean ones. I wish it was better! read more

Thank goodness for the Grateful Dedham Diner! My family and I had breakfast this morning and enjoyed everything about our experience. The wait staff was friendly, the atmosphere was bright and cheery, and the food was delicious! My go-to is always a breakfast special with eggs, bacon, and pancakes so I ordered the Big Rig. It lived up to the name because $11 got me a large portion of fluffy scrambled eggs, two strips of bacon, a sausage link, four wedges of toast, a hefty side of home fries, and two glorious blueberry pancakes. I even have enough left over to enjoy a second breakfast tomorrow! The star of the meal was the pancake, malty with a hint of yeast and they were just sweet enough to enjoy on their own or with a coat of REAL maple syrup. I'm dying to figure out the recipe. The Grateful Dedham Diner is worth a visit. We will definitely be back! read more

Disappointed that the food wasn't as good as its sister diner, The Toast Office. I was given a dirty cup which was replaced with another suspicious-looking cup. And the waitstaff, while pleasant, were fairly absent even though it was not busy. Will try again in a few weeks, hoping to see some improvements. read more

Fantastic food with great portions and great crispy cooked to order home fries. The novelty of the grateful dead connection is not lost on this head. The service definitely left something to be desired as the waitress forgot portions of our orders and drinks. We were out of towners looking for a place for a quick bite before catching our flight back home. We were seated immediately when we arrived by a friendly hostess. We were greeted almost right after being seated by the server. She was friendly as well. The food was pretty tasty. My husband ordered French toast with a side of scrambled eggs. The French toast was nothing spectacular compared to other places but they were good. He kept raving about how good and fresh the eggs were. I had apple cinnamon pancakes with turkey bacon and side of pancakes. The bacon had just the right amount of crispness. The pancakes were delicious, perfect amount of cinnamon and apples. The Grateful Diner is incredibly delicious!!! I would rate it as a gourmet breakfast place. Everything is fresh and served up beautifully. I have recommended this establishment to many people, and their feed back has been high marks all around. I honestly think the reviews others are giving are pretty harsh. Most of the complaints are that there was a long wait. There's a brand new breakfast place in Dedham Square serving hot dishes. People are super happy and excited and as a result, there's a long wait. They were great at communicating the wait to me, offered to call or text when my table was ready, and were friendly. They're brand new and working out kinks but staff was friendly. Been there twice and food was great! We had the hash and eggs, avocado toast, and pancakes. All were tasty, cooked right, and no mistakes on orders. Give it a chance. Just don't go if you're in a rush. It's a sit down place not a speed demon. read more

The wait can be between 20-40 mins. You can't fault them for that. They can get packed/busy. The service can be SLOOOOW. It can take 20 mins or so to get ur order. Refills of coffee or water seem to be non-existent. So 40 mins to wait + 20 mins to wait for food. Depending on how fast you eat, your going to hit this place a full 3 hrs before whatever else you. Outside looks hip and fun - like a new spin on the classic diner experience. The inside feels minimalistic, which at first I wasn't sure of but figured if the food was a hit then "I get it." Menu is big and has a lot to offer for anyone - traditional breakfast items to slightly gourmet/innovative items. I ordered tea and was surprised that they serve MEM... most places like this typically wouldn't know any better than to serve big slow or Lipton, so this was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast took a little while to come out considering they were not slammed. And this is where I was disappointed. I ordered the isabela - 1 egg, choice of meat, 1 pancake, toast and homefries. Pancake was very sweet and overly flavored with vanilla. Not my favorite but palatable. It was not hot. At all. Eggs were cooked nicely - not too dry or wet - but lacked salt and pepper. Home fries were very dry and needed ketchup. Toast was good but also like warm and slightly burnt. They forgot my meat entirely until I mentioned it. Once I mentioned it, it came out immediately. Very tasty but warm at best... not hot at all. Everything but the eggs tasted like it was sitting on a buffet for a while. Wait staff is nice but young and a tad clueless. Was very excited to try this new sit down breakfast location. I found it very helpful that I was able to join a waitlist right on yelp. Our party of three was sat right away. Off to a great start... Once sat, we waited about 15/20 minutes for a server to come check on us or take drink order. Place was pretty busy but had a few tables open so we didn't expect the wait for service or a greeting to be as long as it was. We had time to look over the menu so we put our whole order of drinks and food in. We then waited another 45/50 minutes for the food to come out. We all ordered variations of the 'isabela' (some added cheese to eggs, others subbed for chocolate chip pancakes, nothing major or obnoxious). The food came out with some of the requests incorrect or missing like cheese on eggs and how the eggs were asked to be prepared...no problem. However our server was not as attentive as we would've liked and it took some time to get her attention to point out the mistakes. We asked the server to remove the missing items from the bill and she was able to accommodate. Prices were a lot higher than that of Harry's breakfast which is right down the street in West Rox (great food there too). Greatfuls a new place and I'm sure they have some kinks to work out...might come back to give them another try on a weekday morning. read more

Yes I was a party of 2 but participated using the waitlist. I requested an empty booth. I was told they were holding the booth for a larger party. At that time there was no wait. Two years ago I gave this place a poor rating because, at the time, it deserved it. I have since been back several times because it has greatly improved. I ordered a well-done cheese omelet. A shout-out to the server, Gabi, who arrived with said omelet and before placing the dish on the table said "Do you think this is well-done enough?" I said no and it was returned and refired. Kudos to Gabi for noticing that the omelet wasn't quite "well-done" enough! I was excited to try this new breakfast place in Dedham Center. I had the Grateful plate with the stuffed Canolli French toast. The plate it self was delicious, and huge. My over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. The toast and home fries were delicious. To my surprise it was a full order of French toast. It was good but a bit too decadent for my taste. My partner got the Belgian waffle unfortunately the batter was too heavy and more cake like than then the fluffy waffle he expected. He also order a breakfast sandwich which was over cooked, after mentioning it to the waitress she immediately replaced it. The second one was delicious and cooked perfectly. I have a wheat allergy and eating here makes eating out safe and enjoyable. The waitstaff let us know to expect a little longer wait to make sure there was no cross contamination. I went on a Sunday morning at 8. Got seated within 3 minutes of arriving to the diner. The service was really great. We got menus and ordered about 10 minutes after sitting down. The top picture is corn beef hash. My dad really enjoyed it. The only problem with his meal that the toast was not toasted very well. The second picture is The Isabela. This meal was under the combo section. It came with one pancake,one egg,home fries, a choice of either sausage or bacon, I got toast which was also under toasted. I did not like the eggs they were a little watery. The meal also was cold. It seemed like it had been sitting out for a little bit. The pancake was really good. I think I would come back again. I just wish that the meal was hot when it came out. read more

I just visited this newest restaurant also owned and managed by the same people who own the Toast Office and "The Rox" in West Roxbury. I've eaten here three time in the past three weeks. Had the same thing - Scramblin' Man. First times it was delicious. Yesterday the dish wasn't even close to the two prior times. I questioned it and the waitress took it back and I could hear the cook saying it was fine. A fleck of green pepper, no cheese and a few little dices of sausage. The waitress brought it back, now cold, and told me the cook said I was wrong and that was it. I won't be back again. It was a different cook according to the waitress. Tried to call the owner instead of yelping but the calls don't work. "The number is busy, try back later" was the message every time. Big disappointment. What a waste of money and time read more
