Great sales people. HORRIBLE hot mess in their office, scheduling, installing...ANYTHING that requires basic communication and coordination. Prepare to have them require you to be onsite at least 8 times to get the unit installed over the better part of a month (not just because an inspection that didn't pass, but because of sh&t like they are coming out to install a kill switch on the unit, the guy shows up after you take off work and plan to be home, and whoops...he "forgot" the kill switch at the office.) Or they don't call the correct phone number that's on the account so they are leaving a message that they are "coming by on Tuesday" with someone who will not be able to respond or be home. We asked them 3 times to change the phone number, but the old one was left in 3 other places in their system so...) So now the repeat inspection that was scheduled for tomorrow won't happen because the kill switch won't get installed today. "Well, can you come by tomorrow morning early so you can install the switch before the inspectors come?' "Hmmmm, you'll need to call the office for that, they handle the scheduling." Call the office? Hope you have carved out 20 minutes so in between being on hold 7 minutes at a time, your call can be picked up by at least 3 different people who don't know why you called so you get to explain it again. If it's an average day, you'll also get to hear their coworker on speaker phone talking to yet another irritated customer who is calling in to get help on the same kind of BS you called in about. Ahhh, at least it's not you. Grasten is partnered with Costco, so if you request a generator quote from Costco, this is who might come out. read more

I signed a contract with this company a month ago. I was told that it would take a day or two to get the permit, then they would begin the project with one day for plumbing and one day for electrical. I paid them $4000 down payment and they have basically put me on ignore. When I could get the sales person to answer my texts, I was told that they were waiting on the permit. Today, I called the permitting office and they told me that there was never any permit at all. Even with confronted with her lies, Jana Sherman doubles down and ghosts me. I now have to file a complaint with the attorney general's office to try and recover my money. This may have been a decent company at one time, but not any more. BEWARE. read more

Have had my Trasten for years. I recently had a problem, and they came out and fixed it under my warranty, and I was covered for repair.

Stephen arrived as expected, quickly found and resolved the problem. Prepaid service fee seemed strange, but it all worked out.

The demand for generators is through the roof right now. We are part of that; we finally got tired of the power outages and wanted to invest in a generator. We signed a contract for a generator Grasten via Costco. Everything went pretty smoothly until the very last, most important step. We failed our inspection because of the way they installed the generator. There is a fire hazard, our gas has been disconnected and the project is currently filed as incomplete with the building department. We can't reach anyone at the company to discuss resolution. It's unbelievable that we can't talk to a human being. It's bad enough they did irresponsible work, but the insult to injury is not being able to resolve it in a timely and responsible manner. We invested in this project to save ourselves the hassle of power outages but instead we have a new hassle of dealing with the shoddy generator company. read more

We have had a brand new Kohler unit purchased and installed by Grasten since August and it has never worked correctly since install. Now we are at the end of October and nobody can get the unit fixed or even return a phone call. When I spoke to a manger in September, he said the technician would come out with a computer to diagnose the problem, THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. The technician tried his best, but still does not work. This is a company that was recommended to us, but we will NEVER recommend them. Horrible customer service. They only want the sell, but then.... read more

I am very frustrated with the lack of response to my request for service on my generator, especially since I have a service contract that includes monitoring. The last time it ran was 9/11. On 9/18, the error "RPM Sensor Lost" occurred. On 10/2, I called and spoke with Kari, who sent me directions on clearing the error and manual running in case the error was a false negative. It did not run on manual, only giving a slight grunt. Since then, Kari has reported this to service numerous times, but no one has contacted me to address the issue. Since my unit is monitored, why has Grasten not detected that the weekly test run has not occurred for weeks? read more

I told the salesman that I was going to put a patio very close to where the generator was going to be. He measured another area and agreed to put it there. When they sent the guys to install the pad they put it in the original spot. When I questioned it they said that I had signed off on the drawings which I never did. The salesman never made the agreed upon changes. Now the patio is out because it can't go over a gas line. If you use them, double check everything and do no trust them. Their plumber cut the cable line and made no attempt to fix it. We were without internet for 3 days until Xfinity could make the necessary repairs. The guys that poured the pad did a good job and the guy that came for the startup was good. Once again, be careful. Cheaper isn't always better. Lowes should look into their subcontractors better. read more

During last Saturday's storms our our whole house get didn't start during a power outage due to a fault. We called the Grasten emergency number and Dennis Brown came out almost immediately in spite of the pouring rain. The problem turned out to be a bad starting battery that was still under warranty. Understanding that hurricane Beryl was a significant event, GRASTON totally ghosted us when our relatively new Generac generator stopped working after 2 hrs and left us without power for days. We left detailed messages every day to have someone at least contact us about fulfilling the maintenance agreement . It is now a week later and we have not heard from GRASTON. They may be the largest dealer in the area, but what good did it do to to pay for a maintenance contract when no one will respond with even a phone call or explanation. read more

After 4-5 visits they finally resolved the issue. Started as an ATS communication issue, had to rewire low voltage controller then had to replace controller and ultimately yet another trip to properly set up weekly exercise. I know I missed the details of another visit but you get my drift. All good now but what a cluster. read more

Their salesman was hostile. Their inside sales person snippy and dismissive. They failed to send me a final paid in full invoice and I couldn't claim my extended warranty without it, nor itemize my sales tax. The comment they made was that the sales tax won't show on the invoice because they pay sales tax in bulk quarterly. Like people can't look up the sales tax rate in Montgomery County and calculate? They also failed to send me notification that I needed to apply within 60 days for my free extended warranty until January 31; but my 60 day period began November 30 when my generator was equipment was installed. read more
