They will also assist you in finding the best part D plans for the drugs you use. If you live in Grapevine you really need to check them out. This is truly a hometown drug store. Normally, I wouldn't have even considered going here if my epileptic weenie dog wasn't prescribed a "compound" drug that you just can't get anywhere. My vet recommended this drugstore and indicated that they are reasonably priced and the only pharmacist around that makes compound drugs, which I'm not even sure what that means except I think it has something to do with the exact dosage and liquid form that my 9 pounder needs. The drive through was busy and inside the store was even busier. Three pharmacists (a father and son duo and a son of the original pharmacist) busily work to fill your prescriptions. The line moved quickly but while I was waiting I saw a bunch of specialty items for skin, first aid, etc. that you can't find just anywhere. After I got my dog's prescription, I was totally clueless on what to do, so I walked on over to the counseling window and received down to earth advice about how to dose my dog. It's a good thing I asked because I was reading the syringe wrong and would have under-dosed by 99%. For someone who would probably never have patronized here, I was pleasantly surprised. read more

After being a customer here for over 30 years, I'm now going to take my business elsewhere. I filled two prescriptions earlier this year and they failed to file them on my insurance. I thought one of them could have a cost, but my charges are generally $14 at most. I went back the next day to get it corrected. A woman I'd never seen before informed me they were no longer an approved pharmacy on my insurance and the second prescription was required to be filled as a brand name and that was why my bill had been over $200. The same exact prescription was in my purse to be sent to my mail order pharmacy, and so I knew this was a lie. The generic form can be filled anywhere for less than $20. She suggested I file with my flex plan for reimbursement. I don't make scenes or yell, I just don't go back. Even if it's been 30 years. I saw a lot of comments about them filling prescriptions immediately, so I will remark that over the years, they did make some medication substitutions. Apparently they can do so, but sometimes you and your doctor have specific medications prescribed for specific reasons. My pediatrician was not happy when we discovered a substitution was made, and I had to stop filling a prescription there because they did so regularly. Just read the prescription and compare it to the filled medication. read more

There is a backorder of ADHD medications going around right now. I called multiple pharmacies in an attempt to find a location with the medication in stock. This pharmacy had it, of 5 pharmacies I had called at this point. He knew there was a shortage. When I told him what we needed, he immediately asked where I lived (Euless), and the location of our doctor (Flower Mound). This pharmacy is literally located between both locations. He simply refused to fill the prescription because we did not live in GV and claimed the DEA would not allow him to fill it. His excuse was he is a private pharmacy and doesn't have big lawyers to back him up. This is not the first time there has been a shortage on ADHD medications and I have had to call around to find what we needed and never had a pharmacy refuse to fill my prescription. I once had to drive 45 minutes to a pharmacy to get it the prescription filled...no issue. (Note: one of my sons that takes the medication even goes to school right by this pharmacy) guess what, I called another pharmacy literally right down the same street that amazingly had just enough to fill our prescription and did so with no issue. read more

Their prices are great. In the age of Super Target and Wal-Mart Supercenter, it makes your trip more focused and cost-effective when you can walk into an area that has not been designed by stealth marketers to soullessly extract money from the weak-willed. This Pharmacy has a very comfortable and organized design. My first visit, last year, I had no idea what to do because I was genuinely culture shocked by the difference. Luckily, one of the attentive and helpful front end employees came back to the cash register. They are who have kept me loyal! The younger ones are great,also! My biggest issue is that the owner has probably been working here since my Mom was a teen -not in the area. He is the brightest, bright spot ever. His Thank You means everything and he will often try to say Thank You or greet his customers!!! I worry about the other Pharmacists. None stand out to me. I feel more like a consumer dealing with them and worry about the owner's retirement. Additionally, the Pharmacists and consumers seem to be very chummy on the outside looking in, but this is Grapevine, most people have known each other, forever, and you figure that out after a while. You come in expecting a jovial milieu and it's very quiet. I would give this establishment 5 Stars except that if the Pharmacists are going to be standoffish or transactional, then I might as well get steaks and toothpaste with my medicine. I will update this post when I notice the difference. I'm big on Customer Service on the part of Doctors AND Staff EQUALLY. Great place, a number of times, I've noticed opportunities for great service and, alas, they slipped. UPDATE: I've just left and I'm taking my business with me. Let's see... I've had chronic outer ear infections for 25 years and used the same, expensive, ear drops for 15 of those. When I got a new prescription on Monday, I was expecting to pay the normal $175 for the .3 oz bottle of drops, only to discover, when I went to pick it up at the Sam's Club pharmacy, that its now $375. After calling every store in town and discovering its the same (or higher) everywhere, I called Grapevine Drug and the pharmacist there advised me that this medicine also comes in eye drop form which can be used on ears and is $18. I was shocked, 15 years and no one ever said that? They called back later and said the version I was getting (with anti-inflammatory in it) wasn't available in the eye drop version, but they would call my doctor and see if she would be willing to change my prescription to something less pricey. The next day, after lots of phone calls by them to my doctor & my original pharmacy, I picked up my 2 kinds of drops and paid $58. Its such a rare thing to find that kind of above and beyond service anymore! I'll be back for sure. read more
