I also know that he was honest because my brother has his license in refrigeration repair back east and I consulted with my brother about the work and costs. This is the second time that I have used Marathon Appliance and I will definitely use them again in the future. They go the distance!

I actually kicked him out of my house within one minute of him arriving which I NEVER have done for a service person before. I needed our dryer repaired because heating element was no longer working. My husband had removed the front cover of the dryer to replace the thermal fuse to see if that would fix the problem. When it did not, we called marathon to come out for a diagnostic call. We figured leaving the cover off would be no problem and allow for easy access. John arrived, wasn't particularly warm on the onset (seemed annoyed or stressed). As I led him to the laundry room, I acknowledged that the dryer was partially disassembled. Which honestly was a stretch because it was literally just the front cover off, no parts were undone. He immediately says "Uh, well that's a problem. I can't fix a dryer I can't diagnose." When I paused for clarity, he goes on to say (in an excessively rude and condescending tone) "I mean I'll try because I'm going to charge you the service fee anyway, but you really should have mentioned that in your scheduling. I usually charge an additional fee to put the dryer back together before servicing it." Had he said all of this in a polite tone, I would have inquired about the cost to reassemble the dryer, and then with understanding, say go ahead and do what you need to do. I wasn't trying to withhold any information, And honestly, it wasn't even really disassembled. His tone, approach, manner towards me was so incredibly rude and offensive, and frankly, I don't think he would've talked that way to my husband (or a man) like that. I simply asked him to leave my house. He promptly says " OK, Good luck" With an arrogant tone and then proceeds to walk out of my house and slam the door. Clearly, he doesn't need the business. Ladies, if you want to be treated with respect - AVOID!!

After some fairly lengthy discussion regarding options he recommended that it was too far gone to repair, and would be in my best interest to just purchase a new freezer, due to the cost of repair on such an old model freezer. When the technician named Jordan came ( for a $135 fee) he diagnosed my dishwasher and washer repair and after a conversation with his "boss" quoted $875 to fix them. When I told him I wouldn't pay that he said "how about $400". I showed him the door. Then I went in Angi's list and a repairman name Kaje called me back diagnosed my problem from a video sent to his phone and said it wasn't a problem at all I just had the dishwasher set incorrectly. He told me how to fix it over the phone and it working perfectly. (My bad). The door to the dishwasher still needs a new spring so it won't fall to the ground when opened and he is coming to do that for $75. The first "technician" was clearly a part of a scam system using the toll free number listed on this website.

We had them out for an upright freezer not holding freezing temps well and the tech cleared out…read moresome ice from the drainage area. It worked fine for a couple of months. However, we later found out FROM ANOTHER REPAIR COMPANY that there was also ice formed BEHIND a panel that Appliance Rescue Service didn't even check. We later had Appliance Rescue Service come look at a dishwasher problem, and was quoted almost $500 to fix it. OTHER REPAIR COMPANY is going to fix it for $225. So while we initially liked Appliance Rescue Service, we come to find out they are less than thorough in their assessment, and also overpriced. We do NOT recommend them.

He used a couple of my towels to absorb the water when the ice melted. He was able to replace the defrost heater and thermostat. Yea!
