Our refrigerator in our garage is only a few years old but it started making a noise off and on so we called John's Appliance Repair last week. Aaron came out the next morning and was able to make a repair that was definitely less expensive than replacing the entire condenser fan motor. Aaron was very nice and professional and ended up gluing the magnet onto the motherboard or something like that. We had to keep the unit unplugged for 24 hours to allow the epoxy type glue to dry completely. I plugged it in 24 hours later as instructed and the refrigerator and freezer compartments got cool and have since stayed at the appropriate temperature. And here we are a week later and it is still doing just fine. If that repair hadn't done the trick and we did need to replace the fan motor, they are all on back order and I am confident Aaron would have been able to retrofit one that would work, with no problem. I am just disappointed at how cheaply appliances are made these days. But glad that I know who to call to fix them when needed. I highly recommend John's Appliance Repair! read more

What's happened to Johns Appliance Repair in Plano TX? Did they recently change ownership? Nothing about this experience was like it used to be. They used to be my go-to appliance repair for myself and my 2 rental houses. This time washing machine leaking when not running. My back and forth with them went on 6 weeks and it never did fix it! * 2 now-shows * 1 new part (sensor) installed for $300 that didn't fix the problem * 2 other new parts (pump and stabalizer) ordered for $700 that I said no to and told them to leave because what the guy was saying didn't even make any sense at that point. * Forgot to order one of the parts that I didn't need but that set it back about 3 weeks. Now, it's been correctly diagnosed and fixed it needed a new water valve. The valve was never shutting and continually dripped. With 3 different parts recommneded for replacement and none of them were actually parts that would fix the problem! The guy who came out literally was like a the Key Stone Cops if they didn't speak enough English to have a conversation. I have used this company three times for different appliances in three different properties. I have also tried various companies and most are in the business to either: 1. Overcharge you. 2. School a "housewife". 3. Not fix the problem and charge you anyway. JAR has been a life saver and I have referred them to friends since I found them 2 years ago; I'm so glad I finally found a company I can trust. All problems have been fixed and I especially appreciated that they suggested to buy a new dishwasher after I described the problem; they even suggested to use Sears outlet and I found a new one for 2/3 of what it would have cost to repair. with them. We called this company out for a hinge problem on our oven. They diagnosed the problem after taking the door off of our oven and said we needed to order parts to complete the work. The service technician put the door back on improperly and the door fell off and broke the glass. They said that the manufacturer does not make these doors anymore and there was nothing they could do to fix this new damage. They now refuse to respond or do anything about our oven that is now completely out of commission. read more

KNOW THEIR POOR WARRANTY BEFORE CALLING... Just to make sure we didn't have a problem with our Scotsman ice machine pump install we ordered the parts through Johns and had them install it, $940. I think they had to come back twice because it was leaking. Since then we've had Scotsman send someone out now twice also this year, but now because the machine was not making ice. First time on 3/30 and then in July. Scotsman tells us the pump is bad. So we call John's Appliance and they send us an invoice we never saw before showing their shoddy warranty... 30 days on Labor and 90 days on Parts. Ha, are you kidding me? There is a line on the invoice to recognize the warranty with a signature. Guess what? Yep, it's blank. Never saw it never signed it. Before this we used our ice maker in our Subzero refrigerator. Same thing, we let Johns use their more expensive part. They had to come back twice to fix it, and now it's still not working. Save yourself the frustration and call someone else! read more

I called John's Appliance Repair for a fridge that was not cooling proper. This was for a stroke victim's house who could not remove items in freezer to ice chest. I was told that the soonest they could be out was 5 days. The dispatcher then called me back and said they could get someone over that very day. They ghosted me! Surprised as I am a previous customer. My fridge went out Saturday night. I called John Sunday expecting they would be closed. They were and I left a message for them to call me Monday morning. I followed up again around 10AM Monday and again got their voicemail. I again left a message. I waited till noon, then called someone else (Michael's). He picked up the phone immediately and my service was scheduled for Tuesday morning. He came as scheduled and fixed my problem. Today is Wednesday and I am still waiting for John's to return my call. Their loss. Michael's is my new guy. I have my own house plus some rental properties. Hands down the best repair service I've ever used. Our dryer stopped putting out heat, so I was faced with the option of buying a new dryer (ugh) or finding a decent repairman (double ugh). I went with the latter and hoped for the best. I wasn't on yelp at the time, so I had no way of knowing how super John was at serving his customers. He had great google reviews, so that was enough to take the risk. What was great: * Easy to get in touch with to make an appointment, by both email and phone. * On time. John Shafik was supposed to come fix our Ice maker. Liberty Home Guard warrant services assigned them the claim. I believe it is is son Matt who called me on 12/12 and told me they would be here on 12/13. I took the whole day off to wait for them. They never showed up and never called. He called me and left a Voicemail saying they would be there Tuesday the 13th. These inconsiderate and extremely unprofessional people never emailed, texted or called to say they were to unprofessional to show up. If these people are that dishonest, unprofessional and are clearly liars, why would anyone hire them to fix their appliances? How do you trust liars like this? They are pathetic. I lost a whole day of work for these people. They could have at least called. Avoid this company. There are actually honest and professional people who will treat you right. read more

Unfortunately, I suggest you avoid John's Appliance Repair. I had Aaron put in a new icemaker in a Maytag refrigerator and it's never worked correctly. Additionally, he's been out three times to fix it and although I understood from the desk lady that there would be no charge for follow-ups he charged me $75 per visit. And, it still freezes up and leaks melted ice everywhere. So, I spent $225 on service calls and over $200 for the new icemaker. Frustration is at a huge high. read more

I called John's and after a short conversation with the person who would not tell me his name when asked, it turns out it is a call center that handles appointments, eventually hung up on me after spending time giving me rates, and appt was setup and a service charge fee that had to be paid up front with a credit card. I was not comfortable with the service call fee prior to having any service done and expressed that I would have to think about it. Immediately I was hung up on and left with a dial tone. So I called back and talked with another person and voiced my concern of what happened. The rep apologized then asked if I would like to set up and appt. A great experience starts with the person that answers the phone. Sometimes sweet and sometimes snarky is not a great experience. Contacted to have dishwasher and refrigerator repaired. Couldn't fix refrigerator since it was of LG origin but said she would send (Jerry?) because he would probably take a look at the refrigerator ice maker, since I was a nice customer. Husband met repair person and he took a block of ice out of fridge ice maker and got some junk out of the top sprayer of dishwasher. Charged standard trip charge and said it was good for a 30 day warranty. Called last Tuesday and said neither the dishwasher or refrigerator were repaired. Receptionist said she would call in the new motor for dishwasher and call me when she had ordered it. No call back, I contacted her on Thursday and was told she would pick motor up that day and Brian would be out Friday between 3pm and 5pm. At 4:45 I called to see what was the problem. Answering machine was on and no more contact. Summary - I am a repeat customer and always had great service. This experience definitely reflects a serious lack of customer service and communication. I had John's Appliance Repair come fix my microwave. It was pricey but it was back to perfect. Based on that, I had them come to repair my old sub zero. I was quoted about $3500 for repairs that would put it back to factory perfect. This process took a very long time for the old parts to come in and get done but that was alright. I love my old fridge. The insulation was not put in correctly and I cannot get them to come back to repair it. It's been since April and I have over a $3500 investment that is letting in warm air. read more

The cold water setting on our 20 year old washing machine stopped working on Sunday. I forgot to call John on Monday, the first thing my wife asked me when she got home that afternoon was did you call the repair guy. I called at 7:45 am Tuesday morning John called me back with in the half hour. He had an opening for 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, I took it and asked if the repairman could call before he comes so I could run a few errands. He call right around 11:00 am, and said hes was about 10 minutes out. I told him I was about to check out he said no problem, he could wait for me if I was few minutes late. I arrived a little after him, I explained the problem and then demonstrated it for him. He said he could fix it if he had the part which he did. It took all of 30 minutes to repair the problem and look the machine over. They charge a service call fee for the trip, if you have the work done then that fee is waived and you pay a flat rate for labor and parts. Mine was under $200.00, the transaction was easy he swiped my card I signed the screen and he emailed my receipt to me. There is a reason for the five star rating: - They arrive between the times they set. - The repairman was very friendly and professional. - The job was done as specified and billed accordingly - he whole process was easy. This is my second time I have used Johns Appliance Repair; they has always been a straight forward regarding the work, professional and quick. When the fridge is out, the food is spoiling and getting hot, who ya gonna call? Don't call the Ghost Busters on this one. You better call John's Appliance Repair. This place is great. Aaron did a fantastic job and was very friendly, courteous, helpful, and even fixed some other things wrong with my fridge. And at a very fair price. My fridge lost its "cool" Thursday night and by Friday morning everything was getting in the "Danger Zone" (40 °F-140 °F). I quickly got my frozen food over to a gracious neighbors house to keep it from spoiling and packed other non-essential cold items in some coolers with ice and ice packs. I quickly got on Yelp, and based on the good reviews from Yelp, I called John's Appliance Repair immediately at 8 AM. John answered the phone, and immediately I had an appointment for Aaron to come by and check it out between 3-5 pm. Since I work 30 min from home, I asked John if he could have Aaron call me when he was arriving at his appointment prior to mine and that way I would not have to sit around and wait. He said he would do that. And it happened. Aaron called me and gave me plenty of time to get home and he arrived about 15 min after. He had my fridge running in 20 min. and fixed some other issues with this "home purchased asset" that had not been working for some time. The price paid was very fair and reasonable for such short notice, quick service, and great experience. I would recommend John's Appliance Repair to any of my friends and family. This business would get 10 stars, if possible! I found my appliance repair man! Tragic story: I was out one night for a friend's birthday. When I got home, I decided to get a glass of water from my fridge door before I headed to bed. I noticed a puddle in front of my fridge, and I didn't spill any water. It was when I opened up the side by side fridge that I saw water pouring out of where ice should be. I found this business on Yelp and promptly visited their website to find out more about the services they offer. They are an accredited member of the BBB (awesome!), certified in most all appliance brand repair, they're bonded, and they are community stewards offering discounts to seniors and active military personnel. Did I mention the service call is only $39.95? I have to tell EVERYONE!!! John owns and runs the business with his wife, and John is very personable and professional. John was able to send Aaron out to look at my fridge on Monday, the day after it broke! I had a two hour service window from 3 - 5pm. Aaron showed up promptly at 3:15 and got right to work diagnosing my fridge's problem. Well, as it turned out, the compressor was bad so that meant buying a new fridge. Aaron told me about several appliance shops and sales happening in my area, which goes above and beyond customer service in my book. So after checking with the BBB and Angie's List (yes, I do know about some issues with them), I cross-referenced some names, read some online reviews, and came up with John's Appliance Repair. The woman who answered the phone was extremely friendly, and it was one of the most painless instances of setting up an appointment. She gave me a two-hour window and took down my number. On the appointed day, they called me within the time window and headed over. After listening to my description of the issue, they offered up some ideas of what was wrong and provided me with an estimate within the first five minutes or so of looking at the washer. I accepted the estimate, and the problem was fixed within thirty minutes. Afterwards they told me what to expect--some burning smells--for the first 2-3 washes, and I paid with a credit card. Since then, I've done four loads, and it has worked perfectly. All-in-all, it was such a positive experience--from the first call to the professionalism of the work--I will definitely use them again. read more

They were fast and responsive, their rates lower than others I have used before, technicians were honest (my repair was going to cost double what I paid for the stove in the first place), knowledgeable and mellow (one of them was a woman, which I especially liked and one was kind of hippie which I also like). I called John's with a washer issue one afternoon and had someone out here the next morning (ON TIME, of course)! It appeared to have a faulty part, so he got that ordered for the next visit. Well, their general washer magic seemed to cure the problem, because it then started working properly the next day (after MONTHS of issues). Once the part came in, I let them know it was still working fine, and John said that was great and not to fiddle with what's not currently broken. He mentioned that particular part was usually a 50/50 chance it would begin to malfunction again within a week. So he kept the part around just in case I called with more issues and then returned it. It was no big deal, and he didn't push an additional visit when it wasn't necessary. Had a horrible experience with a Sears repair job. Had to have them come back, and the washer never worked the same since! When it went on the fritz again, called my neighbor for a recommendation and he sent me to John's. Left a message for them, got a call back in 5 minutes. it was late on a friday, and got a first thing monday morning appointment. I was happy to hear the range of 8-10 (instead of the usual 9-1 range that sears would give you) Guy showed up promptly at 9, was very friendly, very knowledgable. Diagnosed the issue quickly, and was very honest with us that the transmission was shot, and it would cost 380+ to fix. He recommended a brand to buy a new washer, and even where to get it (made in the USA, as well as a local business).
