Aaron came out the next morning and was able to make a repair that was definitely less expensive than replacing the entire condenser fan motor. Aaron was very nice and professional and ended up gluing the magnet onto the motherboard or something like that. We had to keep the unit unplugged for 24 hours to allow the epoxy type glue to dry completely. I plugged it in 24 hours later as instructed and the refrigerator and freezer compartments got cool and have since stayed at the appropriate temperature. And here we are a week later and it is still doing just fine. If that repair hadn't done the trick and we did need to replace the fan motor, they are all on back order and I am confident Aaron would have been able to retrofit one that would work, with no problem. I am just disappointed at how cheaply appliances are made these days. But glad that I know who to call to fix them when needed. I highly recommend John's Appliance Repair!

I needed an electric stovetop burner control switch repaired, a job John's Appliance Repair had previously performed on another burner switch without any drama or issues. In contrast, Action Appliance diagnosed the issue, claimed it would be a major two-person job, and requested half the payment upfront before starting the work. Furthermore, they quoted me more than double the price I had previously paid. Consequently, I paid their trip fee and hired another company instead. The new company completed the job with a single technician, charged less than half of Action Appliance's quote, and did not require payment upfront.

Extreme Care Appliance Repair was the best one I liked and contacted them. The lady was nice and got me an appointment pretty quick. The day the repair man was to come, he was right on time! That's unusual! Aaron worked on my dishwasher while we chatted. He told me a lot about the dishwasher and gave me advice about it. He also told me that I had a discount on the bill because I'm a senior. That was even nicer! He said he had fixed the dishwasher but it was old so I should look out for it. It worked well for awhile but then I couldn't get the buttons to do what I wanted. So I called and Aaron came back. He said the motherboard wasn't going to work again, and that I had a couple of choices; get another motherboard, if it's available, or buy another dishwasher. He found out how much it was at that time as about the same price as a new dishwasher. I asked what brand would be good for me, and I got it. My dryer had troubles during my dishwasher had its troubles. Aaron checked the dryer everywhere and found the vent needed cleaning, and he did it. He put a new thermostat in it and it's been working very well! I found a really good company with nice people and good work. I'll always call Extreme Care Appliance Repair when I have other problems with my appliances. I give them five stars.

In the 10+…read moretext message exchange he never once mentioned a service fee -- which, of course, is a common fee for this line of service, but it's not unheard of to not charge one -- and despite my pinpointing the brand and specific issue (door hinge), he didn't ask for a model number to potentially alert me as to parts availability. Needless to say, he spent 5 minutes looking at the oven and charged the $95 service fee while commenting that the parts were unavailable. I called him out on not disclosing a service charge, and he responded with a sarcastic comment. In my opinion, it's not unreasonable to expect (1) disclosure of the existence of a service charge (and amount) and (2) inquiry as to the model type so as to figure out availability of parts (presumably, this was easily discoverable given that he was here for 5 minutes and made that determination). It's Memorial Day weekend, and my dryer doesn't work. I called 5 or 6 places and none could get to…read moreme until Tuesday. I reached Better Appliance's voicemail; didn't bother leaving a message. Joe saw my missed call and called me back, telling me he was out of town for the holiday weekend, but could get to my dryer on Tuesday. I told him I was headed down to U-Fix-It to buy the heating element to attempt DIY. He asked me to explain the problem, said it sounded like it was an electrical issue, not a heating element, but that if I bought the part, I could call him back and he'd walk me through the repair because it's difficult. Or...he'd come fix it Tuesday if I didn't manage it. However, it WAS an electrical issue, as Joe suggested. Once I resolved that, the dryer is working fine. I didn't have to buy the part or repair it myself, or call Joe. Joe is an honest guy who talked himself out of a service call, but I will definitely use him the next time.
