Marathon did an excellent job in repairing my refrigerator that quit on me suddenly. The technician came out the same day that I called and quickly assessed the problem. He ordered parts immediately and returned a few days later to perform the work and get me up and running again. The technician was prompt, professional, extremely knowledgeable and really nice. I also know that he was honest because my brother has his license in refrigeration repair back east and I consulted with my brother about the work and costs. I normally do not post negative reviews but I'm so upset about how I was just treated by, John, the owner of Marathon, I have to post this. I actually kicked him out of my house within one minute of him arriving which I NEVER have done for a service person before. I needed our dryer repaired because heating element was no longer working. My husband had removed the front cover of the dryer to replace the thermal fuse to see if that would fix the problem. When it did not, we called marathon to come out for a diagnostic call. We figured leaving the cover off would be no problem and allow for easy access. John arrived, wasn't particularly warm on the onset (seemed annoyed or stressed). As I led him to the laundry room, I acknowledged that the dryer was partially disassembled. Which honestly was a stretch because it was literally just the front cover off, no parts were undone. He immediately says "Uh, well that's a problem. I can't fix a dryer I can't diagnose." When I paused for clarity, he goes on to say (in an excessively rude and condescending tone) "I mean I'll try because I'm going to charge you the service fee anyway, but you really should have mentioned that in your scheduling. I usually charge an additional fee to put the dryer back together before servicing it." Had he said all of this in a polite tone, I would have inquired about the cost to reassemble the dryer, and then with understanding, say go ahead and do what you need to do. I wasn't trying to withhold any information, And honestly, it wasn't even really disassembled. His tone, approach, manner towards me was so incredibly rude and offensive, and frankly, I don't think he would've talked that way to my husband (or a man) like that. I simply asked him to leave my house. He promptly says " OK, Good luck" With an arrogant tone and then proceeds to walk out of my house and slam the door. Clearly, he doesn't need the business. The service repair person was good, but we have been waiting on a part for our refrigerator several months. Calls and texts to their office get you an answering machine that suggests you text them because they are busy. Texts contain more excuses on why they can't talk to you. Time to find another repair person when you can't get the company on the phone after more the 5-6 attempts. read more

Marathon Appliance, hands down, has the best customer service I've ever experienced! Every time I've called them, I was given a realistic arrival window time (not like the cable guy's window of somewhere between Noon and 6pm) and not only were they on time but actually early so my whole day was spent waiting and hoping they would show. I was notified when the tech was in route and his arrival time which was spot on. I was given a quote that was far less expensive than several other companies I had come out, I wasn't quoted for inflated parts and they didn't pitch work that wasn't needed. The work was done without delay and it's evident they are experienced and know what they are doing. Beware of Marathon Appliance repair. My washer was dripping water into the drum when it was not running. I called Marathon to come out. The first visit was just me telling him what was going on . He never even opened the washer, but knew immediately what the problem was. He said he needed to order the part and would be back in a few days to install the new part. The part was new shut off valve for $100. Their MINIMUM labor cost is $200!!! It literally took him 10 minutes and he was done. $200 for 10 minutes of work!!!! He said he doesn't charge a service fee if he does the work. Believe me the service fee is wrapped up in that $ 200. Total repair was $350 for a simple valve replacement. Outrageous!!! We purchased a beautiful MARATHON WINE COOLER - MBWC24-2D. It worked GREAT for 3 years. It all of a sudden just stopped cooling the beverages. We contacted Sterling Marathon and they basically said that there's nothing they can do for us!!! I found that to be a poor response so I called and left a message. I waited 2 days and called again and once again I left a message. I have yet get a return call. My wife and I have tried to get an answer as to what we can do. It pains me to write this after my prior 5-star review of Marathon but the last visit was not good. We had a 3-year old dishwasher that was not having any water flow. Called Rob and a tech came out the same day. Technician diagnosed a bad mother board for about $450 (ouch!). He came back 5 days later with the part but it didn't repair the problem. Tech said he couldn't figure out the problem, even after talking with two other techs. He left the house with the dishwasher unrepaired. We called another company who repaired the dishwasher in one visit without any parts needed (see picture 1). Good: -Same-day appointment -Didn't get charged for the part that didn't fix the problem Bad: -Was without a dishwasher for an extra week due to an incorrect diagnosis (bad during a pandemic when sanitizing is important) -Tech left the kick plate installed backwards and the fasteners loose. -Our puppy found one of the loose fasteners and was chewing it (choking hazard). See picture 2. -Wanted to discuss the issue with Rob before doing this review. Texted him on 4/8, and left a message with his assistant on 4/14 and 4/21. He has not responded. -Was charged a service fee of $97.39 for this experience. In summary, while I am appreciative that Marathon did not charge me for an unneeded part, I believe that an appliance repair company should, you know, be able to repair appliances. The tech appeared to me to be a (wrong) parts-replacer, not a troubleshooter. I understand the basis for the service fee but if I provided the same level of professional service to one of my clients, I would have been embarrassed and felt it unethical to bill that client. read more

That was a month ago; we really wanted the work done, and not start over with another company so we left messages and emails for him. He totally ghosted us and now we're back to square 1. Seemed very professional - came out and evaluated my frig. Asked me to call LG for an authorization and then they would apply the service charge from this visit to my next appointment to repair the machine. LG provided authorization July 1st and Marathon has completely ghosted me since. I have called, emailed and texted. I have even had LG call twice on my behalf. Zero response and now I have to start over with another company and am out the $150. I don't like leaving bad reviews. I tried for over a month to get a response from the company. Called Marathon as a referral after another appliance company was booked (probably the same referral as mark h) and to be honest, Marathon started off very helpful. That's until any actual work needed to be done... If you want a company that doesn't answer your phone calls after you leave weeks of messages then go ahead and call them. A customer shouldn't have to be following up with a business they are going to pay. We have an LG refrig whose compressor went out after 2 years. Since its under warranty still, all Marathon appliance has to do is INSTALL the part since LG doesn't cover labor. The part was ordered by LG and my phone calls were to check in and see when the part was to arrive so someone could go out to INSTALL it. Sounds very easy for them... Seems like some easy business to me, but apparently they aren't interesting in maximizing their profit. read more

If I could give less than a "one-star" rating I would. I was referred to Marathon from another firm who was not able to service the situation with my washing machine. I initially spoke with Ron. And based on that conversation, I'd give 5 stars. We arranged a service call. All seemed good. The tech showed up promptly, checked in at the front desk at my condo and the front desk called to inform me he was there. Jason rang my door bell and I said I'd be there in a minute to put my dog away. Loe and behold, I turned around and he actually let himself in my home! Strike one. I told him the situation with the washing machine. He unscrewed a few screws in the door and said I needed a whole new door. Strike two. I knew the door came in several pieces and knew for one, I didn't need a new glass or plastic front cover plate. Jason was very condescending. Not very helpful and not explaining his thoughts. He just said, "it's plastic, it breaks". He couldn't give me any kind of rough estimate on the price of repair. I can handle bad news, but no news? That to me is unacceptable. I paid the cost of the call and he led himself out. Then I proceeded to call Ron back to inform him of the experience. No returned call. I called a second time. No returned call. I figured third time is a charm and same result. Strike three. I know this review is inconsistent with other reviews on this company and I realize that people have good and bad days. I look at this as a bad experience. I guess the $65 means more to this company (with no results). In the end, very unprofessional. Marathon came out to complete an oven repair I started but was unable to finish. Jason my repair tech called to let me know he was on his way and arrived within 15 minutes. He had to pull the oven from the wall and took great care to do the job right and not damage anything. He explained what he was doing and also gave me good information regarding a future purchase I'm planning to make. Best service ever from an appliance repair business! I called in the morning around 9 a.m. and asked to see if they could see my Whirlpool refrigerator that same day. I was told yes and to please go online to book a service call since they have a new system. I did that and ended up getting my refrigerator serviced that afternoon. Quick response and service, they contacted me by text, voice mail and actual call from technician letting me know that he would be at my place within 45 min. Technician arrived and right away told me the two possible reasons that were causing my fridge to have issues not cooling or freezing. He gave me estimate costs for either issue and within minutes found out what the problem was. He went to his van, got the parts for my fridge and had it up and running in less than 30 min. I really don't think I could be any happier with an appliance repair service than I am with Marathon. They were recommended to me by another appliance repair service that did not service my brand of refrigerator. That says a lot right there. They showed up on time and were very professional. They had to order a part, so they showed us some tricks to keep the freezer functional in the meantime. They also fixed a small problem with my trash compactor at no extra charge. I had a few different providers come by to check out what was wrong with my DCS ovens. Most took between 4 to 9 days to come diagnose. Rob came out the next day, diagnosed in about 10 minutes and his quote was be far the most reasonable. By FAR! If that was not enough, he is one of the most professional, personable, respectable and respectful service providers I have come across. The actual repair was completed a couple of days later to account for parts being shipped. It took a total of about 15 minutes to replace 3 igniters and test them. Rob had to come out to tend to my GE fridge three separate times - once to determine why it was leaking, and a follow up visit to install the replacement part. The third trip was for a totally separate issue with the icemaker. And while he couldn't repair it without replacing the entire freezer door (due to a design flaw in our model that we were already aware of), he gave us instructions on how to do a quick fix in the future.
