I have been to Fredericksburg quite a few times and I don't know why this winery had never been on my list previously! I have been to some other ones from the Heath brand. My sister is a member and had many good things to say about them, so we had to try it out! We did a small family trip and this was one of my favorite wineries that we visited. First of all the vineyard is so beautiful and the patio area outside. We had a fun time taking lots of pictures and videos of ourselves! We originally had a reservation for the inside, but since it was such a beautiful day we asked if we could sit outside on the patio and luckily they had a big table available for our group. We ordered a couple of Caesar salads and pizzas for the table. We got the Stout's special and the Texas pepperoni with jalapenos. Everything was really yummy! A few of us did the Classic wine tasting and we also ordered a bottle of Absolution. Overall the wines were really good and we had an amazing time. I would totally come back on my next trip to Fredericksburg! read more

DO NOT LET GRAPE CREEK TAINT YOUR OPINION OF FREDERICKSBURG WINERIES!!! This place is more of an "amusement park" than a winery, they produce a great vision of what a winery shouldn't be like. In the beginning they produced some "OK" wines and provided a nice "winery setting", but it seems as if someone from Disney World took over and it's a laugh among serious wine people. From the moment you enter the property you get a hard sell to join their club. If you're not a "club member" you're treated like a third-class citizen. Can't enjoy the nicer patios, can eat at the restaurant (but that's OK, it's a rip off with below average food for the area), and get snubbed at every turn. They have questionable on the grounds. Had horrible experience a few years ago and never went back. There's a good reason for Yelpers only give this place a 2.9 Rating. Learn from fellow Yelpers, before you waste your time. There are dozens of wineries that APPRECIATE your patronage and welcome you to their properties, AND they have much better wine than Grape Creek. read more

We've been members here for about four years. We held the Grape Creek winery club membership for a year or two. Then moved to the Heath Owners Club membership (Heath owns Grape Creek Winery). Then recently, we moved to the K Estate membership (Heath bought K Estate). And they offer other memberships as well. You can switch out at any time. And within each, you can go with reds or whites or mixed. They also make sparkling wines. Something for everyone. We took the Estate tour for the first time this week. They show you where all the grapes are pressed, the wine is made, the casks they age it in, and how they filter and bottle it. Pretty cool. They are a major producer, and all of it seems to be distributed to members. They have an onsite restaurant with covered outdoor seating. You're surrounded by the winery and lots of beautiful plants and trees. Indoors you have your standing tasting experiences. The restaurant food is fine. And it's not exorbitantly priced. They have chatceutery and appetizers (hummus, meatballs) as well as simple entrees. Though they own several wineries and tasting rooms, this is the best of them as a visitor experience. We stopped by for a tasting and we're pretty excited to sample a varied selection of wines. The winery itself is impressive and the grounds are beautiful. The man out front was very friendly and helpful and directed us inside, even telling us that our one friend was allowed to be the designated driver and could choose not to participate in the tasting. Once inside, we were shown to an area with a standing tasting counter. Our server was nice but at times brusque, and immediately the wine club membership was promoted and was repeatedly brought up throughout the tasting. When we decided not to pursue the membership, our server seemed a bit annoyed at us. The wines were tasty, with my favorites being the Muscat and the Riesling. The ours were generous and we were having a good time. However when a few more people showed up, we were pretty rudely asked by staff to move to make space for them and had to condense our group together and share the hooks for hanging our bags. We were not taking up multiple areas and had been in a one spot per person area prior to their arrival, so that was not a pleasant experience. Grape Creek Vineyards has a wonderful outdoor seating space. Paired with beautiful weather it makes for a very enjoyable experience. The food is fantastic. I can personally speak for the pizza and salads. Both are great options either paired or separate. You can order the salads in a smaller configuration if you prefer to pair with an entree. The service can be hit or miss depending how busy they are. My biggest gripe is if you decide you want to order bottles of wine as part of the membership they will option a tip amount on top of the wine charge. If you're eating there and ordering bottles of wine it can get quite confusing. They really shouldn't be applying a tip option if you' don't picking up bottles. It negates the point of picking them up at the vineyard given they offer delivery options as part of the membership. Aside from that I would encourage anyone that is able to take advantage of the restaurant to join the membership. It really is a bonus given the wine is quite good. read more

Glad my son recently became a member of this vineyard. Safe to say it was well worth the visit. I'm now a member myself based on the excellent experience I had there yesterday. Cuisine: Mid/Meh. Just small bites in the cafe, nothing to write home about. That said, sitting in the cafe offers beautiful views of the vineyards. Beverages: 5/5. Great price for tasting experience ($30) compared to SoCal/Temecula. If you enjoy reds, (bold-fruity) try the: Prosperity, Invention, Mosaic, Petite Syrah, and Pinot Noir. All are solid AF. I prefer Bordeaux's and bold reds and usually steer clear of Pinots and Petite Syrahs, but I was pleasantly surprised here. No weak sauce here with these last two. Invention and Pinot Noir were the favorites out of this group. I also typically avoid Rose's as they're way too sweet for my liking. However, the Malbec Rose delivered rich substance that I didn't even know was possible with a Rose, so I highly recommend trying this for the non-Rose drinkers. Even the sparkling wine was superb. Service: 5/5. Everyone provided excellent service. From the cafe folks, to the actual Tasing Ambassador. Dan's the Man. We received an education and thoroughly enjoyed his service and hospitality. Came in as a walk in - party of 4 for a tasting. $140 for 4 wine tasting total. We had "Harvey," pour our tastings and it was an awful experience. First, I felt like I was speed dating. Meaning he was speaking so fast it was hard to not be distracted and at ease to enjoy the tasting. Harvey was trying to be funny and he wasn't. Harvey would insert jokes like, "My wife and I drink this wine eating hamburger helper or Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets." Harvey, you are not funny. Harvey was dumbing it down to my husband and friends by stating the notes but not being clear on what actual real adult food pairings would be complimented. Throughout the tasting Harvey kept harping on buying wine and getting in the Members Club List! ANNOYING!!! Let me enjoy my dammmmm wine!!! Let me find out which wine IF ANY I LIKE! And for all that- I highly don't recommend this winery. Lastly, the POUR. The pour was RIDICULOUS!! All 4 of us altogether had about a quarter of a glass put together. Literally 1 SIP ITS ALL. We are currently club members at Paso Robles, and 2 other vineyards here in Fredericksburg and we've never had this experience. I would give this place zero stars if possible. We got a wine tour bus and were already warned they push memberships and only allow wine tastings if you're not a member so we were fine doing a tasting but when our group of 8 got there, they said no more than 6 so we said ok fine we will be 2 groups of 4 then. The front door guy said they could take 4 in and the other 4 can go to the sparkling wine building so of course we said no. He also said if we bought a $100 membership they could let us in but at that point we were already turned off and don't live here, nor ever had their wine so why would we want to buy a membership especially with that horrible first impression. There was also multiple groups of 4 walking right in so it wasn't a capacity situation. We had to call our bus driver to pick us up and take us to a better winery next door to this one that has a neat underground tunnel. read more

My boyfriend and i stopped here on our way home from fredericksburg for my birthday, and had a great time. The price for the wine tasting wasn't too bad although the tour did feel a bit rushed - we did get to taste a good amount of different wines. The staff seemed very knowledgeable on the wines they had to offer and pretty much knew exactly which we'd want! it was a very beautiful place, i just wish the tour took you through the actual vineyard. We did end up taking home 3 bottles for about $60 since we signed up for the membership which was a steal! read more

The wine tour lady was very knowledgeable on the wine making steps and was nice enough to let us taste a few of their wines inside the storage. She was very friendly, approachable, and well liked by our group. Place is big and has numerous wine storage facilities around. After the tour, they do give you more wine tasting and want you to join their exclusive winery membership. We do not drink that much wine so we decided not to join. The older man that was giving us the wines to taste was very friendly at first but after tasting a couple of wines and not becoming a member, he became sarcastic and rude to us. The staff at Grape Creek Winery are trained to be confused, pretentious, and unkind to both members and non-members alike for a wine tasting reservation made in advance. The confusion to seat members in an open area is laughable as staff members at the first kiosk/host stand struggle reading an iPad, moving customers to a second kiosk, and figuring out what the staff said or did at the first kiosk before seating you. I was interested in gaining access to the restaurant and attempted to get basic information about their membership process. Their website was difficult to navigate and offered little clarity, so I reached out directly. I began texting with a representative named Jessica. I asked two simple questions: What is the process to join, and is there a fee? Instead of answering either question, she redirected me toward a wine tasting -- something I did not ask about and had no interest in. I asked again. Same questions. No answers. Just deflection. I was then contacted by phone by another woman. I gave her the same opportunity -- twice. What is the membership process, and what does it cost? Again, I was met with passive-aggressive, dismissive responses. Something as straightforward as explaining a joining process and disclosing a price point should not be a difficult ask. I was not haggling. I was not complaining about cost. Money is not the issue. I simply wanted to know what was required to access the restaurant. Neither representative could -- or would -- give me a straight answer. That level of evasiveness and condescension is unacceptable, regardless of how upscale an establishment believes itself to be. Unfortunately I did not enjoy this winery at all. The wine was just okay. The whole purpose of the tour felt like it was just to sell the membership, to the point where it makes you uncomfortable. They don't let you just enjoy the wine and the moment, we had wanted to do the tour to learn more about wine and maybe buy some bottles after. As soon as we said we didn't want to join the membership the whole mood changed. We walked out of it feeling like we were almost in trouble for saying we didn't want to be a member. We adored our time here. There is a lot to look at and read in here while you wait for a staff member to become available. They also give you water while you wait which was much appreciated. The tasting here was super complex and we found that there were a lot of our picks had very unique flavor profiles, which was interesting to experience. By fiance loved everything he tried, he is a moscato drinker. On our recent visit we had reservations for their Sunday brunch (you must be a member to book their brunch). On this visit, our Comped wine was a Heath Family Blanc de Blanc bubbles. Two of us ordered the French toast brioche, with cinnamon-spiced peaches, berries, pecans, scrambled eggs, and applewood bacon. Our better halves order the crab and salmon benedict. As usual brunch was fabulous. I work in a heavy people services industry and have not encountered many people so rude as the one we did today. We won't be back. The woman who hosted our tasting was the most condescending human I have ever had the displeasure of encountering. She told my friend she needed to hurry up and drink her wine on the first pour. She stated to my friend didn't have a complex enough palate and asked if she felt like she actually wanted that wine. She said our friend was ruining everyone's tasting by playing a brief video of the bachelorette party when the other party didn't seem to mind at all and asked to see it. She stated she should get out headphones if she needed to listen to a video. She also stated that my friend couldn't drink an entire bottle of wine in one sitting as if it was a bad thing. This is just a few of the examples and digs she made towards our friend. The whole vibe was uncomfortable and not fun which it should have been. Extremely Disappointed by Rude and Unprofessional Staff Our experience at Grape Creek Vineyards was nothing short of shocking due to the incredibly rude behavior of multiple staff members. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with disrespect. It began with Kent, who was operating the golf cart shuttle. Instead of offering a warm welcome, he told us to "get off our high horse" -- an absolutely inappropriate and unprovoked comment that set a terrible tone. Things didn't improve from there. When we arrived at the tour, Steven, who had already started, greeted us with a passive-aggressive "nice of you to join us." When we asked a simple question about seeing the exterior of the winery, he curtly refused, saying he was on a time schedule. Inside, instead of offering any understanding or hospitality, he repeatedly asked if we were "done complaining." Finally, we spoke with Kimberli, hoping for a more empathetic response, but she was equally dismissive and unprofessional. She even said we were the ones who should be embarrassed -- which is completely absurd given the way their team treated us. Frankly, the only thing embarrassing here is the lack of basic customer service and hospitality. There are plenty of beautiful wineries in the area that offer great wine and treat guests with respect. I strongly recommend spending your time and money elsewhere. Meh. We pulled in off the highway because we saw a billboard claiming they were rated number 1 for wineries on Trip Advisor. I think Trip Advisor is rigged if this is even in the top 10. The grounds are beautiful but the wine itself was just okay. We did a tasting but didn't like anything enough to buy it. If you are looking for ambiance and good wine I would go to Featherstone instead. Service was just okay. We were stuck tasting with another couple because she couldn't find the person working the other bar (the place was dead on a Tuesday). The lady serving us and the other couple was nice enough but she offered the other couple a bonus pour and told us she would figure out a good bonus pour for us but then never brought it out. She gave the other couple theirs but didn't offer us one after mentioning it. Instead she started the hard sell on their wine club. Wine wasn't fantastic so I wasn't interested in joining a wine club but the whole "bonus pour" being given to the other couple (and offered to us) and then ignoring us was somewhat annoying. Former members from the Georgetown location, we discontinued our membership when Covid hit. We had never visited the vineyard outside Fredericksburg, but during a recent trip, we decided to stop in. The staff was courteous and friendly and asked if we'd like to join the next tour, which included a tasting. We found our guide, Zanna, to be knowledgeable, and her presentation was very informative. We learned some things about Grape Creek wines that we hadn't realized--mainly that they use ZERO additives. Having enjoyed our membership in years past, we decided to reactivate and look forward to our next regular shipment of these outstanding Texas wines. read more

We did a tasting here close to closing time. We were still warmly greeted; not the "we are closing" greeting we received at some other places. The wines were delicious and the stories about the wines were great. We did not feel as though we were an imposition. We did end up leaving right at closing time, so we appreciated their professionalism. I ended up getting 3 of the bottles we tried. We joined their wine club because we can use it at their Georgetown location. There were 3 different versions to choose from. All really good. And you get extra perks as a member. Many Fredericksburg wineries are closed on Tuesdays. Good info to know if planning a visit. This one was open :) read more

When you invite someone in...you should ask them to have a seat. Well not at grape creek. You spend $30 per flight tasting. They make you stand. I asked if I could get a chair. They said it was reserved for their members only. How much to be a member? Free. But you have to buy at least three bottles that randomly hit your credit card. Marketing works on my wife...so she signed us up. They said welcome to the family! Kinda like a cult. Finally we could sit down. We got the meat balls that were good. They dont serve beer...so she gave me something. I paid the tab and headed to the restroom. I come out of the restroom and a lady meets me at the door. You forgot to pay your tab on the meatballs she says. I paid my tab. Well that was for the drinks. I apologized and paid. But who runs a separate tab for food and drinks when you sat in the same chair the whole time. Segregation is very important to them. Either you can be a member and sit. Or not and stand. My friends and I came to grape creek vineyards for a wine tour and tasting. What was frustrating at first was that we wanted to grab a small bite and some wine before the tour since we arrived 45 minutes early, but it was only exclusive to members. No exception. So, we drove to a market nearby. Overall, the wine tour was a good experience, and it was cool to learn about the different types of wine and how the woods in the barrels contribute to the different tastes. Our tour guide was very informative and thorough with his explanations! Once we got to the wine tasting room, we were told we could only sample up to 3 different wines, but the guy was open to letting us try more. At one point, when he started talking about the membership though, it felt like he was pressuring us to sign up, and it was getting way too excessive, even when I had already said no thank you. My group started to sense the vibes that you are treated much differently if you're a member vs not a member. The wine was pretty high quality I will admit, but the service was not. After the tasting, we dined in at the restaurant, since 2 of our friends became members on the spot... the spinach artichoke was tasty- cheesy and creamy with chunks of artichoke throughout. Loved how they served it with crispy pita chips on the side and the carrots to add a lil balance. Also, we were sitting at a table directly under the sun, and we asked if they could open up the umbrella, but they said they were unable to because of the wind (that was non existent). Stopped by on the 290 shuttle, while the grounds are beautiful the customer service when checking in is below subpar. The lady checking us in was not very welcoming or inviting, had us pay AND THEN asked us for ID. Obviously over 21 but that in it of itself was off putting. Melanie hosted us for our tasting, and really turned the experience around, had it not been for her we would probably never consider returning. The couple next to us had a very similar experience, we all had the same sentiment about the interactions with the cashier and host who walked us to the tasting. One plus is you do get to select your tasting wines. Apparently food is only for members, we wanted this to be our lunch stop as they seem to have a wonderful menu but was informed it was a members only option. Overall - Melanie is doing the lords work for this establishment, and deserves a raise. They should clean house with the rest of the people who aren't creating a welcoming winery experience you would expect for the setting. read more

Do not waste your time or money at Grape Creek Vineyard. We booked the tour and it started great. Westin was knowledgeable, very nice, and did a great job explaining the winery and the winemaking process. Cam was also great and friendly while transporting us around the property. Dan, however, completely ruined the experience. He was pushy about the membership from the start, and when we said we were not interested, he responded with, "oh, you must love those HEB wine hangovers." On top of that, he did not want to let us sample a wine that the guests next to us had been allowed to try before agreeing to the membership. That made the whole interaction feel rude, inconsistent, and unnecessarily hostile. If staff cannot handle hearing "no" without making condescending comments and treating guests differently, they should not be working in hospitality. Westin and Cam were the only bright spots, but Dan made the visit a complete waste of time. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

The service, at times, seemed slow (compared to a regular restaurant experience), but a) they're extremely busy on a Saturday, and b) we're at a winery - so we were NOT in a hurry.
