MY PROBLEM was the constant invasion of FLIES that kept trying to land on my food while I was trying to eat. We sat next to the window and there were dead flies on the window sill. We saw them around the other tables and nothing was done about it. My food ending up getting cold and knocked over my ice tea trying to keep the flies off of my granddaughter's meal. We got disgusted and got up to leave. No way was I going to take the food home. I told the cashier that it was difficult eating our meal while swatting flies off of our food. Granny's supplied a perfect hungover brunch on a Sunday morning after a friends wedding. This restaurant has a total diner feel with a bar area you can post up at it. We were a group of 6, so we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table but it truly wasn't any longer than that. Our waitress was funny, personable, and made suggestions which is always appreciated. She also put up with shenanigans from my husband and our other friend who think they're funny and loved giving her a hard time. We were sat at a large corner booth which was for the best considering our post-wedding celebration status. The menu is huge so it was tough to decide what to order. Plus, I had my usual savory or sweet/breakfast or lunch debacle. Coffee was a must and they were piping hot. Got to love free refills. I ended up ordering the Triple Play, which for only $7.99 came with a ton of food -- three biscuit halves topped with gravy and three eggs how you like them (scrambled for me), three strips of bacon, and diced potatoes, although I got hash browns instead which was a great recommendation from our waitress. De-lish! I started slowing down towards the end, but I put up a good fight. Nearly made the clean plate club. If you're a fan of biscuits and gravy the Triple Play is like an upgraded version. Got sick from my meal here, automatic 1 star. I came here for brunch yesterday with some friends who been here before and couldn't stop raving about this place. Therefore, I was expecting a good (if not great) meal. The party of 9 of us were seated promptly around 11:30am as there wasn't a crowd at the time. I took a shot on the gyro omelet as I haven't had one in a while and I've loved them at other places. First taste, I wasn't a fan. The omelet was overcooked so it was dry, the tomato tasted old, there wasn't much gyro meat and the tzatziki sauce was flavorless. I added salt and pepper and it made it a bit better but something still tasted "off" but I ended up eating about half of it anyway. The hash browns weren't cooked evenly; they were hard and crispy on the outside but undercooked on the inside. The only good part of my meal were the pancakes I got with it. Even one of my friends who raved about this place kept complaining that his eggs were "wet" inside. Additionally, I took half to go home but they grabbed my plate before I could grab my remaining tzatziki sauce. So I asked our waitress for another cup and she wanted to charge me 50 cent, really??!! But as far as the sick part, about 4/5 hours later, my earlier taste buds didn't lie; I had to make an "emergency" trip to the bathroom. I always look for new places to try and Yelp never disappoints! We found Granny's by searching "Skillets" per my husband's cravings. After reviewing their menu and seeing several skillet options, we made it a must go! We were greeted and sat upon arrival! Our waitress was super nice and attentive. I ordered the Nutella Stuffed French toast (no bananas) and a side of corn beef hash (I always try this at every breakfast restaurant). My husband ordered The Works skillet which came with pancakes. I loved every bite of my food and nearly finished everything- this is a huge accomplishment for me with breakfast foods. My husband cleaned both his plates (skillet and pancakes). The bill came and it was around $25. So happy to have found a local spot for breakfast with decent prices and great food/service. First time here. Very friendly service. No wait on a Monday morning at 9:30am. I ordered the eggs & meat combo which comes with pancakes and hash browns or fruit. I'm still on the hunt for the best pancake in town. These are the best I've had in Chicagoland so far. I'd definitely come back and would definitely order the pancakes again, which is saying a lot coming from me.... I'm such a pancake critic. The pancakes weren't too spongy, nor too salty. They were the ideal size and consistency. I wouldn't say that they are fluffy. Tastes pretty good though. Next time I come, I am going to try the grits. Grits are on the menu and I was just told that they are cooked and not instant grits. I'm not a fan of instant grits. The only reason for the 4 vs 5 stars, is again the pancakes not being the best I've ever had. Perhaps I'm too harsh. Come and try for yourself! I believe you won't be disappointed. Plaza parking. I don't usually get to go out for breakfast on the weekends, so when someone suggests it, I'm pretty stoked. :) I pulled up my bookmarked breakfast places on my Yelp app and suggested Granny's since I'd never been. We arrived around 1 (they close at 3) and were greeted by the Specials board and, after a minute, a hostess. We were seated at a booth (yay!). Unfortunately there wasn't a copy of the Specials in the menu and our server didn't mention any. I ordered the Veggie Skillet and (I think) he had a spicy/Mexican Skillet (each around $7.25). Each came with a side of either toast or two pancakes - I chose the latter. Yummm. The veggies seemed fresh and it was cooked to my liking, but I admittedly got tummy problems as soon as I got home, and then later after I ate my leftovers. Considering that was the only food I had eaten, something was definitely amiss. :/ The server was ok - not really warm or friendly, but brought everything we requested (mustard, napkins, coffee refills, To Go boxes). We hadn't been sure how to pay (up by the front door at the register), but she graciously took the credit card, rang it through, and brought it back to us. After a morning workout, we decided to check this place out. It has a diner type feel. Located in a strip mall at the corner of Schick and Army Trail, it took a Yelp search for me to notice this establishment. So much gets lost in strip malls. The food was typical breakfast food. Good but nothing special. Service was good and the prices were reasonable. I ordered eggs, turkey saussge, wheat toast and breakfast potatoes. My companion opted for strawberry stuffed french toast and bacon. The total was about $20. I would choose this over IHOP any day of the week. I always order the breakfast items here, so not too sure how there lunch items go, but it's always been a pleasant experience. The flavor of this particular omelet was unique, I can't put my finger on it but the cajun spices probably brought about it. The omelet is a little on the oily side though. You have a choice between fresh fruits or hash browns and pancakes or toast. Chose fruit and multi-grain toast to be slightly healthier. If you have a small appetite you can definitely eat half here and bring half home. My friend ordered the crab and asparagus omelet with hollandaise sauce and that was good as well. I've ordered the french toast, skillets, and eggs benedict here before and they were are filling and tasty. But I've been living in the area more than 10 years and hadn't even noticed it. Probably because it's only opened till about 1 or 2pm. Not really a morning person, much less on weekends. Anyway, since I'm not a morning person, I don't really do breakfast. It's not my favorite food. This place totally changed how I look at breakfast. The two times I've been there I've had two different types of skillets. DELICIOUS and large portions. You can definitely tell it's family owned, the place feels cozy, and the service is great! It's been a few months since our visit, but I wanted to come back and give Granny's a great review. We live in Denver, but when we come back to the Chicagoland area to visit friends and family, we are always trying to find places to meet up and enjoy a meal. Granny's is close to our friend's house, so we stopped here for breakfast on the morning after Christmas. There were four of us, and we were seated right away when we walked in. Both our waiter and the gentleman re-filling water glasses all morning we friendly and helpful. The menu is huge and has a TON of options, I had a hard time deciding but ended up going with an omelette with a few customizations and it came out perfectly. Everyone in my party really enjoyed their meals and we loved that they let us sit for a long time (a few hours) and chat over drinks and our meals. We were paying attention to how busy it was though in case we were taking us valuable table space, which we were not. We went there after seeing the reviews were very good. However I was terribly disappointed. My husband and I both got breakfast items. I got the barn burner which is supposed to be strips of chicken and avocado, mushrooms, etc. It had Old diced chicken that hurt going down. My husband's dish had biscuits which were very tasteless. Everything seemed to mainly be warmed up after having been pre-made. Only the eggs seemed to be fresh but that didn't make up for the rest of the meal. Very disappointed this morning, the gal Jessica was very rude because we walked in 1 minute until 6am and said we don't open until 6, I nicely said it's 1 min to, Jessica said I don't care I open at the last minute, so we proceeded to walk back out the door and Jessica rudely says, you mind as well come in since your in already. I've never in my 58 years of life had such rude awakening at 5:59 am. I went to Granny's for the 1st time last week and the waitress last Fri was thee best, friendly she joked around, etc. I'd like to go back but definitely will find out this rude gals name and I will not go if she is waitressing...Needless to say, we did get up and walked out, And Jessica was still being as rude as can be as we were leaving. There's something kind of charming about these older breakfast places. The tables are worn, carpet has been tread thin, and the decor is quite outdated. But Clean and sunny! And when you're greeted as soon as you get to your table right with "Good morning. Coffee sweetie?" That's when you know it might just be a good day. Granny's has a nice variety on the breakfast menu and daily specials listed on a wipeboard at the front. There's nothing too inventive about their menu, but it has the basics, eggs,pancakes, french toast, omelets, etc. Coffee? you bet! Fill 'er up and they come by often if you need a "warm up". Good coffee, strong and hot--no frills or pretension. I got the banana pecan pancakes and the description said "nice and crunchy". It sounded pretty good and they were! I opted for the whipped cream on the side and it tasted much better with the whipped cream than with the syrup. Big pieces of bananas and lots of pecans. Most people don't like to take home breakfast leftovers but I don't see anything wrong with it. Besides, there was enough to bring home and heat up later for a mid afternoon snack! (I needed my afternoon sweet fix and there it was!) I don't know how long Granny's has been in Addison, but it's a nice place to visit if you just want the basic breakfast out. read more

Gone here with my mom a few times for brunch, and we continue to go back! I've gotten lunch and breakfast items here and everything I've had has been delicious! Today, I tried something totally new and got the Erin Go Benny, a benedict with corned beef. Now I say something completely new in that I have never had corned beef before. It was delicious! The eggs were poached perfectly and their hollandaise sauce was top-notch. Often at restaurants, the hollandaise can be as salty as a salt lick. This was just right. And the corned beef was great! With the sweetness of the hollandaise and the corned beef, the benedict was balanced perfectly with the addition of a little acidity in the form of sliced tomato, which pretty much made the dish. I ate the whole thing despite fullness because it was just that good. I've also gotten a mediterranean wrap before, which was very good. Their daily soups are usually really tasty options as well. The coffee's decent, and refills are plentiful. I highly recommend Granny's for a yummy brunch! read more

I want to like this diner, but struggle with the quality. I have eaten here for breakfast and at lunch multi-times, as it's close to my office. The owner is nice, so is his son that both go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, reason for my two stars. As for the food, I just don't find it to be fresh or very good, sorry. I've ordered their iron man breakfast and egg white omelettes to my disappointment. They seem to want to use egg beaters, instead of egg whites, when ordered as egg white. They also seem to over cook everything; well done! At lunch, I have gotten there Rubin sandwich multi-times, and have struggled with there 1000 dressing, as it's really bad; again, sorry! Last time I was in there, I asked about the dressing, in a nice way, to find out its homemade. Wow, I didn't know what to say, as it tastes nothing like 1000 dressing? My co-worker laughed, as he felt the way. I'm writing this in hopes the owners may read this and consider changing things up, as it looks like the could use a little change. Visited Granny's for the first time today. It's a decent breakfast place with good size portions. I tried one if the biscuits-n-gravy combos and my sister had the Cajun skillet. I like my eggs over-medium, and places sometimes have a problem with that, but my eggs were cooked just the way I like them today. The sausage gravy wasn't anything special, just average. The biscuit was good and fresh, and they have decent coffee. My sister really enjoyed the Cajun skillet, I tasted a piece of the chicken and it was very good; just enough of a little spice to give you that heat in the back your throat. We got there at 2 PM and their hours say they close at 3 PM. There were only about four tables occupied when we got there, and of course those people were finishing up so wasn't long before there were just two occupied tables in there. My biggest complaint is that they started vacuuming at about two 2:40 PM; i've never heard of a vacuum that doesn't stir up dust, so I didn't appreciate them vacuuming right around our table while we were eating. And I mean right around our table; he didn't actually bump my chair but he had to be just an inch or two away from it. When we left it was only 2:50 PM. personally I don't think restaurants should start cleaning up until their guests are gone. Or at the very least give us space and not clean the corner where we were until we were gone. We will return but will get there earlier. read more

When my mom told me she wanted to go to this place, I was honestly not expecting much, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. =] The service was good, the crowd was super casual and diverse and the food was really good. Between the 5 of us (2 being my kids) we had omelets, pancakes, french toast (I think) and coffee. They seemed to be very attentive with the coffee refills and were super patient with my kids, they even let them each play with little pumpkins they had up for decoration. Awww. Now to the food, personally, I LOVED my omelet. At first glance, you wouldn't think there could be a good restaurant in this dingy mini-mall. But don't judge a book by it's cover. When first walking in you will notice that this place is bigger and sunnier then you would have expected it to be. Which is a nice treat. Then you will get greeted and sat by some pleasant help and usually you will have a waitress by you in no time. I used to come here for breakfast a lot, but have also had lunch items here. The food is above average and so are the employees. I've been here with some fairly large groups too and they always did their best to accommodate us by joining some tables together.
