Millie's was very cute and charming, with vintage decor. The hostess and service was good from our server. They have contactless payment and you can earn rewards from Toast (which we love). However, we will not be returning because the food was some of the worst we have ever had, although my husband did enjoy the coffee. I had an order of hash browns, and after a few choked down bites, my husband said the I did not have to eat them. So loving on his part, and I was so relieved. He had the chicken salad sandwich off the lunch menu and they were served with potato chips. He asked the server for French fries, but they did not offer any. We will never return. read more

I went to Millie's all the time when I lived back in Illinois. My parents brought me there when I was a baby in the 70s. We knew the owners and even Rusty who took over after they passed. I have yet to find a restaurant that makes Swedish pancakes with the lingonberries as good as them. I've had Swedish pancakes in many other places, but no one, and I mean NO ONE makes them as good as Millie's did. I would gladly pay a premium price for that recipe just so I can make them in my kitchen like they do. read more

Terrible food. Waiter was the worst. You are not welcome here and if you speak English with an accent they will treat you worse. Food is cheap but small portions and mostly sauce to hide small portion. Orange juice is cheap Tropicana. The 3 dollars a literal in store. read more

In 4+ weeks the new owner has fundamentally changed the restaurants ideals. He cut the pay of a 35 year employee and has lost 90% of the rest. What has transpired his fundamentally changed the breakfast scene of our little town. There are places in Addison to have a decent breakfast no doubt, however, Millie's will no longer be a choice for me. I wish him well and the best of luck because he's gonna need it lol. read more

I was so disappointed when I found out "Our Kitchen," a long time staple in Elmhurst, Ill. closed permanently?which was located east of Lake Street in Elmhurst, Illinois. What! No more yummy German pancakes. You will not understand why, but the thing is, it was kind of soft, custardy (is there such a word, "custardy?" middle. Oh well, I'm using it anyway. I googled German Pancakes on google maps and it came up with Millie's Pancake Shoppe. YEAY! So Paul and went to try their German Pancake. Well, it's not the same. It was a bit over cooked and I don't know if they heated up the butter to a certain degree temperature, just like making Yorkshire pudding. I make German pancakes too if I'm in the mood, so I know. I have been going to Millie's since I was a kid. Whenever we are nearby on the weekend we try to visit Millie's. Unfortunately, I really feel this place is falling and I hope the owners take some pride in the tradition they have had for a long time. Our server was very distant most of the time and gentleman who runs food and cleans tables was more useful than our server. The server sat 3 tables away on her cell phone a majority of the day. The floors and decor need to be redone. I love the old school look but man this place now went from vintage to straight dirty. The food was not great at all: Pancakes are always amazing but this time they were mediocre. I feel like all the food tastes the same from the eggs to the sausage to the hashbrowns. My guess is that griddle is just as old and dirty as the dining area. I hate to say this but it's probably our last visit. They have a chance to fix it but based on the feeling they give you, that is not going to happen! read more

My sister and I are from out of state. This looked like a really great place to try. When we entered we were expecting to be greeted with a host. Instead was told "move for the him to get by." Since there was a older guy at the door. We assumed he was the host but apparently not. The lady then told us to pick anywhere to sit, but then tells us not to pick that side of the booth and told us to sit to the other side guiding us to a specific booth. After being seated the host/waitress was rude since we have came in to when we sat down. After sitting it felt like the whole mood of the restaurant felt off. Ever since we had been "greeted." The host/waitress just made the experience off. So it was decided not to order at all and leave before we placed an order. Millie's was our Sunday breakfast staple until the owner sold it about 2 months ago. We went back a few times when our favorite server was still there. A few weeks ago we went there for breakfast and our favorite server was gone. My husband got 1 cup of coffee the whole time we were there and the service was terrible. We tried to go back again and were sat in the front portion of the restaurant where NO ONE came to our table for 10 minutes, despite the waitress walking past us several times. Mind you, we are weekly customers and this type of service would've never been the case with the old owners. We got up and walked out and will never go back again. Not sure what happened that the old owner sold but the restaurant with the family feel that we frequented once a week is no more. Awful. read more

A friend and I went to Millie's on October 22. We had never been there but read about it online and wanted go somewhere with character and great food. We were not disappointed. Found this jewel of a breakfast place on way to pick up from one of my vendors in the are and breakfast was great! Although the outside is nothing to speak of the inside has charm. A warm and cozy restaurant along with a nice little gift shop hit the spot. The quality of the food was really good and the value was fantastic, everything was spot on. Service was great as well. Although this is a pancake place I always judge a place on how well they can cook eggs and deliver a good experience with the basics(bacon, toast and hash browns). They did a great job! The bacon was good quality and in abundance, not just two strips, probably had 6 pieces on my plate. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely be back. read more

Millie's is a classic and tradition in my town. I've been going there since I was just a kid and love the food every time.

There is literally nothing about my hometown that I like - except for Millie's. I don't know if it is because I used to eat breakfasts here with my dad or that it has a gift shop attached to it, but I still love Millie's and will drive out here from the city just to share the experience with my kids. I am always shocked that we get seated without a wait - we must hit lucky because it is always crowded with people waiting when we leave. The kids love it here, and we can get them to eat more than usual with the promise of a visit to the shop for a gift afterwards. They enjoy the Mickey Mouse and chocolate chip pancakes and usually will eat some sausage that the husband orders. He goes with the traditional egg/meat/toast combos and I try to order different things each time. Last time I had the breakfast burritos that you can custom-design and this time I got the potato pancakes that have only a touch of onion, which is appreciated. Service is always great and the coffee cup never gets emptied! read more

If you are interested in the Dutch Panca, note that it takes 25 minutes to prepare. We actually got ours as a dessert treat after breakfast. My suggestion would be to serve it with some creamy vanilla ice cream! I had the Breakfast Croissant which was extremely delicious! It was perfectly made and the croissant was so buttery-yummy! The last time I had pancakes was at a IHOP over 2 years ago. It's been a brutal time but the weight had to come off. Anyway, today was the day to go to Millie's Pancake House. I moved to Addison 2 weeks ago and I've been eyeballing this place every car ride I take to a park for my dogs. Well, I have to say, the interior reminded me of the old time feeling of a mom and pop joint which everyone goes to because it's great. The staff was welcoming, so no complaints there. The price for a few slabs of pancakes, sausage, and eggs...no problemo. Coffee? Si Senor. Refill? What? I have not heard that term used since the 70s when coffee cups were truly bottomless. You old timers know what I'm saying. I got the check thinking for two people it would be about twenty bucks because my friend had only pancakes. Nope. I was wrong. The great food was priced fine even accepting the inflation which the government says does not exist. The bill was over thirty bananas with tax. What? Why? I looked at the check and the coffee which was flowing freely was not truly a bottomless cup of coffee for one price. Or maybe it was. Each starter cup was 4 buckeroos. Two cups...eight smackers. No wonder they kept asking if we wanted more coffee. I am only a one cup drinker since I may have a heart attack or spontaneous combust from the caffine. (kidding) But I do only drink one cup. My friend had two cups. If I go there again, I will bring either my own gallon sized cup or a large thermos to pour the coffee into so they can keep asking me if I need a refill which I will gladly take for there are many homeless people who could use a cup of coffee. (for their loose change they collect staning on the corners) Sadly, I will not be going back here. I had the Millie's P.H. experience and will stick with the stay at home and drink my own coffee program. Always love to stumble upon a 60 year institution. November 2019 will be their 60th anniversary, with the current family operating it for 54 years. Don't worry there's another generation poised to take the helm. Their German Dutch Apple Baked Pancake was featured on Chicago's Best TV. I was tempted to try it, but with it being my first visit and biscuits and gravy on special, I fell prey. I wasn't disappointed! Large platter of comfort food is hard to pass up. Quant local place to eat at, very much a vibe of being the neighborhood go to place with the old fashion cash register but not an old fashion mentality. Breakfast is really good, as they carry a variety of menu items to choose from, even offering Mimosa and Bloody Mary's. If you make them aware of any allergies, they try their best to accommodate. Coffee always keeps coming hot and they accept groups (approximately 15 people) for small gatherings. Each time I've been there (only on a Saturday morning) there's hardly ever an empty table. The room is always filled with chatter and laughter, not a noisy place with loud music to make conversation difficult. Staff on any level are attentive and very friendly. Always asking if everything is okay and making sure to clean the table as plates become empty. I recommend stopping in if you're in the area or taking a ride and try something different. It's easy to get to corner spot within an inlet strip and there is access to free parking. Don't pass it up, you'll enjoy it! read more

Definitely has the "grandma's house" vibe with the decor and friendliness. My server, Sally was great; very friendly and attentive. Coffee refilled as soon as it was low without having to ask her to get it. Food out as soon as it was up, which was very quickly. I was by myself and on my way to work, was in and out in 20 minutes. But, there were other diners that clearly had been there a while, and Sally was still attentive to them and not rushing them at all. So, it's definitely great for whichever scenario you prefer, in a rush or take your time, they graciously meet your needs. Now, the food...I had the Super Duper Treat with ham and upgraded the pancakes to blueberry. The main portion of the meal was typical, not remarkable. The pancakes...were perfect! You would hope that a restaurant around since the 50s with pancake in their name would be good, and I can honestly say, best blueberry pancakes I've ever had at a restaurant. The blueberry sauce that came with them, equally as good. Both tasted "from scratch," and transported me back to childhood when my mom would make blueberry pancakes. So the pancakes legitimately were DELICIOUS. I had the standard buttermilk pancakes. Fantastic. But I also got a combo with eggs (they were fine) and hashbrowns (which were not). My friend and I both had the hashbrowns and agreed they were the worst we'd ever had. They were terrible. It's hard to understand how you can so badly mess up fried potatoes, but these had the texture of styrofoam. No flavor, no crispness, no flavor. They were really disgusting. But - I'd 100% return for the pancakes. It's a cute, kitschy place and service was friendly. But stay away from those hashbrowns! read more
