Been here before, but first time bringing a crowd -- a group of 11 on a Sunday morning. Luckily they take reservations and surprisingly called that morning to confirm. That was appreciated! Service was warm and attentive throughout. We had a couple of servers working our large group, and they handled it well. Several of us drink decaf, and without much fuss, a fresh pot was started -- a small thing that made a big impression. The one hiccup was with the bus staff -- we had to ask three or four times for extra place settings. Small thing, but worth mentioning. I ordered the avocado omelet with added mushrooms, plus a side of pancakes and a fruit cup in place of potatoes. The omelet was generously sized -- I could only finish half -- and packed with avocado, bacon, (I added mushroom), and melty mozzarella. Not greasy, not heavy, just really satisfying. The pancakes were a highlight too: lightly sweet, fluffy and soft with perfectly crispy edges. I also got to steal a taste of the corned beef hash from someone at our table, and now I'm already planning my next visit just to order it. It was cooked beautifully and seasoned just right -- nicely salted without going overboard the way many places do. Around the table, the chicken fried steak was a hit, and the chicken and waffle was completely demolished by a teenager in our group -- which honestly says everything. From what I saw, it was an impressive plate: a full waffle cut in half, topped with a piece of fried chicken to match, layered with bacon, and served with a smoky aioli. The only minor note was that a couple of people found the sausage patty in the Hungryman's Breakfast a bit dry and overcooked -- but that was the lone grumble out of 11 people. One practical note for first-timers: parking is on the smaller side for a restaurant this size. There's a sign mentioning additional parking on the other side of a fence, but no clear directions on which street to use to access it. We happened to visit while St. Charles Road was closed for a festival, which made things trickier -- but luckily found street parking across Main Street. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing ahead of time, especially on a busy weekend morning. We will absolutely be back -- again and again. read more

My personal go-to breakfast is the "Hungry Man's(Woman's?!!)" in which you can choose your eggs, bread, sides. Their biscuits and gravy are B+, which is high praise for a spot north of the Mason- Dixon line. Crispy bacon, fresh-squeezed OJ, strong coffee, yummy pancakes... perfection! What went well??? EVERYTHING. We were greeted with a cheery GOOD MORNING. Felt like an at home breakfast but with much more volume. You have to have the fresh squeezed orange juice. There's a juicer machine on the counter that is mesmerizing. I had gluten free strawberry and banana pancakes that were truly amazing. I could only eat one since it was the size of Rhode Island. The coffee was so smooth. Best straight black as it didn't need any assistance to make it palatable. I would take a different route just to eat here again. And our server Christine was top notch. I've always driven past this place but never had the time to stop in until a Sunday afternoon around 1:00. It wasn't too busy, and we were helped right away with our drink orders. For food, we got the California Club with a side of fries and the spinach, tomato, and Swiss omelette. I didn't realize how big the omelette would be -- it came with hashbrowns and two pancakes, so it was a full meal. Obviously, I couldn't finish it all! Everything was very good. My partner and I visited Chicago for the holidays and we stopped by this spot last second before we left. I ambiance was cute, they had it nicely decorated for Christmas (I forgot to take a pic) the food was good, my only complaint is I asked for sunny side up on my skillet and received 3 poached/hard boiled almost and 1 soft boiled egg. My husband found this great restaurant since we had to go to Lombard to run an errand. The place was very busy which always equates to good food. Our server was Colleen, so friendly and sweet. She provided great service. The menu is pretty extensive for breakfast and I love that you can have your choice of sides, including biscuits & gravy with many breakfast items. Even though this place was fully packed, our wait was minimal. You can check their wait time on Google. I didn't notice until it was too late, but you can get specialty coffee drinks. Next time! Egg House is a nice breakfast and lunch restaurant in Lombard. On this visit, we met a friend there for brunch. The signage needs a lot of improvement. We drove by the restaurant and didn't realize it was there. We also missed the parking lot and instead parked on the street and had to trek there in the snow. I was not happy about this. The food inside was yummy. I ordered the chocolate chip peanut butter with bananas pancakes. They came with lots of toppings. The server checked on us often. Just happened to run into this breakfast spot and I am glad I did. The food was out of this world, fresh, tasty and full of flavor!! I got the Chicken and Waffles Deluxe which had a chipotle infused maple syrup, some bacon bits and this delicious aioli . The chicken breast was seasoned to perfection and wasn't pounded too thin. The wifey had a chorizo sausage skillet that was just too much to finish, but was nicely made. Their service was quick, helpful and gave the table great recommendations, ask for Heather, she's fantastic. The owner and chef, Tony, can be seen whipping up these wonderful creations and checking on the quality of the food that was served. The restaurant sits on a busy corner, but has their own dedicated parking lot, which is located in the back. If you take public transportation, the Lombard Metra station is directly across the street. The tables, floors, and menus were all clean. They had some soft music playing, but you can hear the kitchen working, something I prefer over music, gives you an inside view of how they run the place. I will be coming here again, telling everyone that will listen to my voice that this place is legit. My son got the kids French toast and it was really good, I got a breakfast burrito it was huge, and the salsa that came with it was amazing, my husband got an omelet and both our meals came with hash browns! Fair prices and delicious food, Egg House delivers really delivers when it comes to food. Service is also fairly quick and decor is simple but comfortable. Despite being quite busy, it isn't super difficult to park and tables cycle fairly fast. Food comes in very large potions at close to $10 an entree, of which you can easily save the second half for another meal. I really liked the chocolate chip peanut butter with banana malted pancakes which was a short stack of 3, but so huge it's larger than a full stack at some other places. Surprisingly the mix of the peanut butter and chocolate sauces weren't too sweet and this contrasted nicely with the soft bananas and crunchy chocolate chips. The caramelized apple stuffed french toast was also enormous with a full 3 slices of eggy french toast and warm but still slightly crunchy cinnamon apples that contrasted nicely with the pecans. The sweet cream cheese matched perfectly with the caramel sauce. The denver skillet was a nice savory mix of onions, peppers, cheddar cheese, with bacon substituted in my photo. Overall, nice presentation, huge portions, good flavors, and fair prices make this a place to definitely visit again. read more
