Inside out: this place is tucked away at the end of a little strip in the parking lot of Albertson's across from Idaho Pizza. The parking lot isn't very big, but the inside is really cute and homey. Service: everyone there has always been kind hearted and great at recommending things to try. Food: Their lemon muffin just blew my mind. It was so lemony and I am absolutely obsessed. I once had a savory muffin there with feta I think? And I still think about it and it's probably been a year. Overall: they seem like a lovely place great to stop in for a little bite. They have a selection of savory and sweet and their day old rack as well. I know they do custom things, but I can't speak to that experience. All I know is that I would love to go here more often! read more

Great bakery with the added bonus of ordering a chicken pot pie, staff were great, definitely a spot to keep in the rotation

Quick and easy bakery stop. We tried the cinnamon roll and the éclair. The éclair was nothing to write home about, and the cinnamon roll was decent. However, the cupcakes and pies looked amazing even though we didn't get any to try. I would go back to try them out! The staff were friendly. read more

Granny C’s Bakery - 3 dozen custom birthday cookies! - Bakeries Near Me - Boise, Idaho

My husband stopped by Granny C's to get some pastries for the holiday. Neither of us had been there, or had tried any of their pastries before. When he got home, he said the place was unassuming, and the staff there were all older, which he believed meant they all knew what they were doing in regard to baking. He was right. He brought home cinnamon buns, a sticky bun, a few "scones, and a chocolate chip cookie. He said everyone was friendly and helpful there. If you love cinnamon buns, theirs are excellent. They are sweet, and the frosting makes them sweeter. We opted for half the amount of frosting. Tip: Definitely warm them up before eating, and do it with coffee or hot cocoa in hand. The scones were in parentheses because they aren't traditional. Scones usually have a dry crumb and only slightly sweet. These were not that. They were a cross between a muffin and scone as far as texture. It was also glazed, so it was more of a true pastry...soft, flaky, sweet, and delicious!! I HIGHLY recommend the raspberry white chocolate. Highly. And, just a side note. They do make something closer to a scone (with the attitude of a biscuit)...I think it was cheese, bacon, & chive? Perfect for breakfast on the go!!! There are so many wonderfully delicious goodies here. Trust me. I'm going back as soon as I lose the holiday weight. read more

Staff was kind and communicated well when I ordered a cake for my wife's birthday. Everything looked tasty, unfortunately we had a lemon muffin which was super dry and mostly flavorless, kinda tasted like soap, got my wife a full chocolate layer cake and nobody was able to eat more than two bites, it was easily the most dry and weird tasting cake ever, had a bitter after taste. I got a chocolate chip cookie and it looked good as well but tasted like it missed half the ingredients. All three of these items were probably some of the worst "baked" goods my family and I ever had. My wife was so excited and then once she took a bite her face and happiness ended immediately. I can't believe I spent nearly $80 for dry and flavorless cookie, lemon soap tasing muffins and a cake that tasted worse than an old store bought cake. We all wanted this place to be good the staff in mostly really friendly but I would go here again even for free baked goods, worst baked goods we've had in years, so sad. Really don't want to be mean or hurtful because they're nice but they shouldn't be allowed to back food for the public. read more

I hate to post a bad review because the people here are wonderful. However, I ordered a pie for a very special occasion, and the pie crust was very thick, hard as a rock, and inedible. I couldn't even slice the pie. 100 people in attendance, and 2 portions of the filling were scooped out and eaten. The filling was good at least. Embarrassed, but thankful I could say Granny C's Bakery made it, not me! read more

I love this bakery! First time visitor and I was very impressed. Did not think to take any photos as I ran in just to get a quick pastry. Now I wish I had done so. The bakery is a great choice for many selections of baked goods. From pies, cakes, cinnamon rolls, cookies, muffins, and scones. I chose the raspberry white chocolate scone. It had a dusting of sweet sugar on top. Chunks of berries. It was absolutely delicious. Best part of the experience were the owners. Very kind and pleasant. read more

Great cake! Beautiful and delicious. She even made it last minute for my son's birthday!!

I ordered a custom fondant cake with fondant Scottie dogs and a pink doghouse for my granddaughter's birthday. What I received was a roughly frosted buttercream cake with paper cutouts, uneven writing, and decorations that looked nothing like what I ordered. I was later told their fondant was "dry, oily, and unworkable," so they made substitutions without notifying me -- an unacceptable decision from a professional bakery. They had 5 days to make or purchase acceptable fondant. They are a bakery that does custom cakes. To make matters worse, they refused a refund, saying my daughter "approved" the cake when she picked it up. She didn't place the order and had no idea what it was supposed to look like. The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism was shocking, especially after last year's perfect cake. Sadly, I can't recommend Granny C's Bakery after this experience. read more

Let me just say that my husband's birthday cake was a master piece top layer, chocolate with salted caramel. Middle tier Lemon with raspberry and bottom tier was carrot cake with delicious cream cheese frosting. This cake was not only a work of art but a masterpiece of flavors it was the hit of the party. read more

Super friendly service, wide variety of goodies, decent prices. Cute little bakery, a little bit of seating. The gals in there were so personable and helpful. I got the biscuits and gravy, a peaches and cream muffin, strawberry turnover, vanilla caramel cupcake. And a raspberry lemon cupcake. The biscuits and gravy are really good, chunks of sausage in the gravy and really soft biscuits. The peaches and cream muffin was perfect, chopped up pieces of peaches, moist, crunchy on top, delicious. I have yet to try the other items but I have high hopes after trying these two things. read more

Hard to add more than Amanda S review, it's all spot on for my experiences. This is my brothers favorite bakery and we meet friends here every time we are in town. Usually it's a pastry with coffee and chatting up the staff. Definitely a family vibe and try recognize us every time we come in. *Cakes delicious. i ordered a cake for my brother's birthday, i had limited requirements (it had to have a lot of sprinkles to match the birthday card i got him.) I'm not a cake person, until i tasted this cake. it had raspberry and chocolate cream layers in a moist cake. My sister in law loved the raspberry fillings, soo when her birthday came along, i made a ton of points for getting her a cake from here. I was able to order the cake on line, the baker conformed the order via a telephone call. I received a text when the cake was available for pick up. i arrived at the end of the day, and they were selling their pastries as day old at a discount. ugh, i bought more including breakfast sandwiches. read more

We stopped in this morning in search of some yummy croissants-- we were not disappointed!! My husband got a Nutella and banana croissant and I tried out the chocolate croissant. Both of them were perfectly flaky and sweet. My four year old tried out the monster cookie (dad and I took a bite for parent tax) and it was so soft and yummy! We also got a white chocolate raspberry scone to try out later The pinnacle of our visit though, was the service! Everyone that helped us out was so friendly and helpful. My husband even asked if they had a tipping option since he didn't see it on the screen when he paid and the response was "Nope! We don't accept them. Our tip is you coming in to see us-- you guys are what keeps us going!" Not only is this a family owned and run business, but the family is great! The whole place is cozy and welcoming! We cannot wait to go back read more

Granny C' Bakery is exactly what every local, hometown bakery should strive to be! It's blatantly apparent that they serve fresh pastries and use very high quality ingredients. I've been here several times and every single time I've been very satisfied with my experience. On a recent visit I chose a cream puff, chocolate eclair and cheese danish. The cream puff was crazy! There was so much pudding I had to end up using a fork to eat it so I wouldn't make a huge mess. But it was delicious, and HUGE. The eclair was just as decadent and large, filled to the brim with pudding that was freshly made. The cream danish had a bit of a lemon flavor to it which surprised me, but I enjoyed it! Other pastries I recommend include the chocolate croissant (I think they use Nutella, it's freaking GOOD), the strawberry cream cheese roll and any one of their cake slices, notably the blueberry lemon. All of their pastries are very large, especially for the price. I typically end up having to save half of them for later because I just can't fit that much food in my belly at once. The prices are so good too. I usually get a box of three pastries, and it comes out to just around $10. The value you get exceeds everything else. I highly recommend visiting Granny C whenever you get the chance. read more

Going to Boise anytime soon? What a FANTASTIC bakery!! As I came up to the door, I could smell the fresh baked goods. I was not disappointed when I opened the door!! This is a friendly gathering place for friends and visitors. I was welcomed by my new friends and the owner, treated like I'd been there a million times. I ordered the cinnamon roll. It was still warm from the oven. It was my perfect. Crunchy on the outside soft and buttery on the inside. It was sooo good. I bought 2 Im pretty picky on my coffee ( I'm not a Starbucks fan) I asked the owner about what would be best suited for my taste. He recommended Caff'e D'arte. The man was right ( yes, I'll admit it)! The coffee went so perfect with my roll. As you can see by the pics, they have several different treats for a Stella or Fido. They also do wedding cakes holiday pies and treats and special orders. This place is some what small, apprx 6 tables and a couple little tables out front. It's definitely worth the GPS adventure if youin BOISE. read more

Wonderfully prepared baked goods. I had a gravy biscuit for breakfast and it was so good . Creamy and the biscuit was perfectly flaky. I also sampled the ham and cheese croissant and found it also flaky and full of cheese and ham. Both were veritable taste explosions. Great place, friendly owners and fantastic quiche. Thank you for making our brunch a success!

Because I had business about a mile away, I thought I'd try the highly reviewed Granny C's. I'm happy I didn't make a special trip. The Granny's cinnamon roll was stale and dry, and tasted like I imagine straw would if it had sugar and cinnamon stuck to it. Inside the roll was so much cinnamon in one place it actually felt like it was burning my mouth. I've had heartburn all day. A one and done on Granny C's. read more

Finally made an opportunity to visit this family run bakery. My wife and I shared a game & Swiss croissant sandwich and a raspberry white chocolate scone. Oh my goodness, the pastries are so good...and big! I don't normally finish a whole chocolate croissant, but I did today. It was super flaky and the chocolate was delicious and plentiful. My husband said his cinnamon bun was perfectly caramelized on the outside, nice and tender on the inside with a creamy frosting to top it off. Can't wait to try the pecan sticky bun tomorrow! (We had to buy extra pastries since everything looked so good). The owner was very nice and had a great sense of humor. Highly recommend this great little family-run bakery. We'll be back! read more

I like this small bakery with a down-home feel. They do a good job reminding us they are there with their regular Facebook posts. I enjoy the coffee and the cream puffs and the key lime pie. They do a good job with their seasonal offerings for the various holidays. Now---I got some frosted cookies for my grandkids. They were blue and orange cookies for the Boise State Broncos. The blue frosting made the kids mouths, lips, tongues and even teeth blue. It was hard to remove. It also was hard to get off of their hands. It sort of freaked out the kids. And me, and the parents. I tried again a few months later since I didn't remember the frosting fiasco. Sure enough, the bright red and the black colored their mouths, etc. It also left some impossible stains on furniture fabric. I hope there is a way Granny C's will switch to frosting that doesn't stain everything. It really is a problem. We won't get cookies there again until they switch. The cookies themselves taste good. The frosting doesn't have to be so vividly colorful. It would be so much better if the colors were not staining mouths and clothes. Thanks for taking this into consideration. read more

Guys!! I cannot express how amazing this bakery is! Over the summer, I started coming here for a morning pastry a couple times a week, not just for these delicious morsels, but also to say hi to my "family". However, I asked them to bake us a cake for my son's first birthday and BOY DID THEY DELIVER! We chose a Willy Wonka theme and asked for a Wonka hat for the main cake, and a then a Wonka bar as a sheet cake, and lastly a cupcake for the birthday boy. Not only did they look amazing (we recieved comments from every person at the party),but they also tasted better than any cake I've had! Please take a look at the pictures, you won't be disappointed!!! read more

Had been watching holiday baking shows and saw Yule logs and they looked good and decided I needed one for my family at Christmas. Friend of mine mentioned Granny C's and I sent a message to them after they were closed a week before Christmas. They responded within a couple of minutes and had an order in 10 minutes. Picked it up on Tuesday before Christmas and was blown away with how beautiful it was and all the detail...and it was very reasonably priced. Employees were very friendly and helpful. When we cut into it, and started eating it, it was outstanding. There was a fight over the meringue mushrooms! I bought a couple of other tasty treats...all excellent. I don't leave many Yelp reviews but I had to especially given the positive experience I had with Granny C Bakery. I don't live in Idaho but I was looking to order cupcakes for a best friend's virtual baby shower in Boise and saw Granny C Bakery had many positive Yelp reviews. I gave them a call to see if they'd be willing to help deliver cupcakes to my friend. They went above and beyond to make these super cute baby shower themed cupcakes. They also handled the delivery to a difficult area outside of the main city. I was very impressed with their service and willingness to do this for a dozen cupcakes!
