Such an honor, to get this plaque

Las Ramblas can be tiring and you may want something to pick you up mid-day or as the sun goes down. May I suggest Granja Viader, they've been around for over 150 years, mind boggling, I know!! We came here twice (similar to Cuitat Comtal) because we loved it so much the first time. By the way, don't go for the free churros at your hotel, save your calories for coming here because you won't be disappointed. The churros were crisp and nice and hot. This was perfect with our hot chocolate with whipped cream. I'd skip the lady fingers (Melindros cookies), they were fine but didn't strike me as being special. Now the Crema de Catalana was spectacular, with that hard top shell of carmelized sugar and the not too sweet cream underneath. The flan with whipped cream was very good too, so I would have that as well. I love the ambiance and the feeling of tradition and greatness whilst eating here. Not too far from Las Ramblas, just a few turns here and there before you find yourself staring at a dessert GOAT..

Black coffee, Majorcan Milk, Crema Catalana, Máto cheese with honey and walnuts

I came here this morning at 10:00, and it was already busy. Definitely a tourist spot. We didn't have to wait for a table, and the service was good. Different servers checked in on us a few times to see if we were ready to order. We ordered black coffee, Majorcan milk, crema catalana, and mata with honey and walnuts. Our server forgot to put in our order of crema catalana, so there was a little wait for that. The mata was intriguing, with a texture reminiscent of firm tofu and a subtle flavor enhanced by the drizzle of honey. The crema catalana, while silky and with a light citrus flavor, was a bit too gooey for my taste, akin to yogurt. The Majorcan milk was interesting because it was citrusy and sweet. I ordered it only to try, but I wouldn't get it again. Although Granja Viader is renowned for its churros con chocolate, a popular choice among most patrons, I decided to opt for the crema catalana. However, I believe there are better places outside this touristy area to enjoy churros. It seems that many customers are drawn here by the convenient location, rich history, and the churros con chocolate. If churros are what you're after, I would recommend exploring other options outside the area.

Best cappuccinos and churros!! Such a quaint place that's full of locals having their morning coffee and churros. We loved it so much we came back a second time!

We walked into this time machine well into the golden years of when food wasn't just food but well curated with phenomenal service. I had the cream on the cocoa lat and boy was it so heavenly. We came back for the chocolate which was very rich and tasty. The waiters are so charming, and fun! We'll return to Barcelona just for this even if we toured everything in the city!

Churros, lady fingers, chocolate, sandwiches, yogurts, cheeses, and cremes. About average compared to other churro shops in the area but it has plenty of seating and restrooms.

Granja M. Viader is a classic café that has been an anchor in this little alley near La Boqueria market. This mainstay shop takes care of you in the mornings and even has a deli with sandwiches. The xurros here are crispy and just the right amount for breakfast. Take care to order a cup of the hot and thick dark chocolate and whipped cream. Your xurro will thank you for it. Or rather, your stomach will thank you.

    Churros!

We ducked into this place because it was raining and we wanted a quick and easy snack - and because churros are always the answer. The place is cute and has kind of diner vibes. We ordered churros and chocolate but only got the churros (honestly could have been an ordering error since we weren't confident in our speaking skills), so then had to order chocolate. When we initially ordered the woman was pretty short and curt with us, but as tourists we kind of expected to be treated differently. When we tried to reorder the chocolate I tried to order from a different waiter but he told us we had to order from the not as friendly gal. When I asked for the side of chocolate she smirked, but quickly got it for us. I'd say the churros were fine, the service was not fine, but this definitely hits the spot if you just want a quick churro in BCN.

Churros, creme brulee, iced and hot chocolate!

We stopped by Granja Viader after our dinner as we wanted some sort of desserts...and churros and chocolate from one of the oldest churros places in Barcelona seemed like a good idea. And we were not disappointed! I think we arrived 15-20 min before they close for the night...but we promptly ordered chocolate (iced and cold...just coz we wanted to try both), churros and some creme catalan (creme brulee) and they prices were very reasonable ... probably just around €10! With a little bit of generous tips...the staff let us grab a table and stay a little bit longer into the night than kicking us out promptly at their closing time while they cleaned up. We pretty much had the whole place for ourselves..nice and intimate place! A couple that came in a few minutes after us were sadly turned away though....so...don't try to come in super close to closing time like we did! The desserts were good! I liked that the chocolates and the creme brulee were rich but also not overly sweet. The churros were fried hot and fresh...they were crunchy bunch of crispy dough that were fun to dip and eat with chocolate!

    Crema Catalana and americano

Decided to stop in after eating at la boquería as I was originally looking to get some coffee. Happy to have found this place as it is just off Las Ramblas and was not too crowded when I got there in the morning. Once I arrived, I was promptly seated with a menu, and ordered an americano and crema catalana which came out within a few minutes. The crema catalana tasted just like a big creme brûlée and I liked the fact that it had a nice spice/cinnamon kind of taste in there. The brûlée part was nice and crisp and offered a nice balance in texture to the cream. Perfect complement to the americano which I drank straight. Noticed people eating churros con chocolate so I'll prolly have to try that next time I'm in. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back when in the area.

Churro was not fresh, stale. Chocolate has no personality and water down. After I had San Gines in Madrid, I was excited to come here to enjoy the local tasty breakfast. What a disappointment here.

A lot of things have shifted in Barcelona since 1870 when Granja Viader first opened its doors on Carrer Xuclà just a skip away from busy La Rambla. Throughout every new trend, economy, political situation, or war, Granja Viader has thrived. A plaque at the entrance marks this role Granja Viader plays in the history of the city. Granja Viader is famous for more than just being famous ... and old. It's also the birthplace of the popular Cacaolat chocolate drink and home to specialties like fresh Mató cheese, Mallorcan pastries, Swiss chocolate, and Xurros (churros). We came for breakfast and left happy. * Mel i Mató amb nous (Mató Cheese and Honey with Walnuts) This creamy tangy cheese will not be for everyone, but it was so filling and memorable with sweet honey and crunchy walnuts. * Cacaolat amb nata (Cacaolat Cocoa Drink with Whipped Cream) This isn't my favorite chocolate thirst-quencher of all-time, but it was totally cool to enjoy a tall glassful at THE place that first served it. * Tassa de Xocolata Desfeta (Hot Dark Chocolate) This actually may be my favorite chocolate drink of all-time ... because I didn't drink the dark thick chocolate and instead dipped churros in it like a kid. * Catalana Cold Meat Baguette There are probably better meats to choose, so, get one with higher quality because the bread was soft chewy deliciousness. * Cafè amb Llet (Coffee with Milk) No morning and most afternoons in Barcelona are not complete without a cup of coffee or espresso. Breakfast at Granja Viader was no different, but was satisfying. * Xurros (aka Churros) ... Got one order ... got another ... and then a third. They're small ... they're warm ... and they're delicous just sprinkled with real sugar or as a companion for the hot chocolate. Granja Viader lived up to its historic and grand reputation as a destination spot near the Gothic Quarter and La Rambla.

It's true. They are worth the visit. It is such a cozy place. Their churros are simple and simply delicious. Crunchy!!! One cannot go wrong with crunchy. And their prices are for "comer hasta enfermar y ayunar hasta sanar." = (eat until you get sick and fast until you feel better). I could not believe my eyes when I saw the bill. This is not a fancy place but the service is sort of grandma-will-be-the-one-taking-care of you service and what they offer they make it right. You won't regret dropping by here.

Granja Viader is the place to go for Churros with Chocolate. The churros are soft with a light crispness and sweetness. Pairing the churros with chocolate is a must! The chocolate is rich, thick and lightly sweet. I also tried a Magdalena which was crumbly, soft and sweet. Granja Viader is a must visit when in Barcelona.

This was our first time visiting Barcelona and this restaurant with our friends for dinner. We passed by and liked the posted menu in English. Despite that the place was packed with customers we scored a table for four in the rear of the restaurant. I started with and enjoyed my portal (blanco Joven), which is a dry garnacha blanca 90% sauvignon Blanc and Viognier for 4 Euros. I enjoyed my patatas pulled pork bravas potatoes with carnitas, poutine sauce and chilli sour cream for 12 Euros. My friend also enjoyed his patatas pulled pork bravas potatoes. We all enjoyed our tapas. I also ended my dinner with a Cerv Jarra cervezas draft beer for 4.90 Euros. My friend also enjoyed the same cervezas draft beer. My total bill for the four of us was 81.30 Euros or USA $94.44 based on the current exchange rate. Our server Contado, who also spoke English, served us very well. After we visited I found one other nearby Alsur Cafes, which may or may not be affiliated with this Alsur Cafe restaurant. We agreed we will return here again. More to come regarding tomorrow's tour of the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell.

Caravelle is quaint and modern, and the service is definitely on the more lax side. Note: smaller parties may be seated at the communal table, and this place stays busy! Be prepared for a bit of a wait. I started with a café con leche, and although I'm not usually a sweets-for-breakfast kinda person, the croffle looked too enticing online to pass up. Being a huge egg aficionado, I also ordered a side of eggs à la carte. My coffee arrived quickly, but after waiting 30 minutes, I noticed that guests who had arrived after me were already enjoying their meals... When I checked in with the waiter, it turned out my order hadn't gone through at all. I had to reorder, and while waiting, I asked for another café con leche since I was long overdue for a refill. Unfortunately, that second coffee never came--but on the bright side, my meal eventually did. The croffle was freaking divine. Crispy/flakey on the outside, and soft inside. The cream was sweet, but not overpowering, and the tart of the berries balanced out the meal. As I was getting ready to check out, the waiter asked if I had ever received my second café con leche. Embarrassed for them, I admitted that I hadn't... Realizing they'd made ANOTHER mistake, he apologized profusely and quickly asked the barista to make me one to go. To compensate for my time and patience, he generously comped my entire meal, leaving me to pay only for the initial coffee (2.50 euros).
