Old-school spot for xurros or malendros with chocolate. Stopped by here for a breakfast at opening and there were already a fair amount of people. There's only indoor seating but you can takeaway as well. The chocolate can come with homemade nata (cream) which isn't too sweet, but is also good as a standalone. The chocolate is rich and the churros are perfectly fried. The malendros were very soft in texture and soak up the chocolate well. The food came out very quickly. There is a restroom on the left hand side. Credit cards accepted.
So I heard about Barcelona's chocolate street, Carrer Petritxol, and figured it would be a Willy Wonka wonderland of delights. It wasn't that ostentatious, more a pedestrian alley lined with chocolatiers and art galleries. It was in one of those art galleries that Picasso displayed his first painting, a three-eyed chocolate maker with an arm sticking out of his mouth. OK, I made that up, but hey, he could've painted that. Jamie W. and I patronized the most popular of the chocolate shops on the street and ordered what everybody else ordered. We went with the 2.40€ plate of Churros (photo: https://yelp.to/IOoMLfV0pf). Five of them, fresh from the fryer. Delicious. We also ordered the 2.40€ plate of Melindros (photo: https://yelp.to/C7ObIU4hV4). Four thick ladyfingers ready for dipping. As for our dipping source, we both had the 3.70€ Swiss Chocolate with Whipped Cream, and it was delightful decadence as the tower of whipped cream overpowered the cup of chocolate which was thick and sweet, ideal for dipping once you get through all the cream (photo: https://yelp.to/w6ULeRb3jf). The staff was completely male, mostly middle-aged and presumably longtime employees. A cool atmospheric spot. i'm so disappointed in this place. I found it on tiktok and was so excited to try it but the waiter the second we said down "do you know what you want" and we didn't know they didn't have a menu they give you and we said "oh what's everything you got?" explained to us what they had ordered what we wanted the beginning was fine. But once he brought our food we wanted to order one more side. He gave us the nastiness side eye ever as he was walking away, he came back with an attitude "are u sure that's all u want like that's it?" we were like yea..... came back and just tossed it on the table. Couple mins go by we ask for 2 cups of water key thing 2 cups. Walks away after we tell him and comes back with 1 horrible ass service and the food wasn't even worth the hype
This place is crazy busy at night with lines over an hour long. Tip: we went around 10 am and there was no wait at all. Their churros and chocolate is a MUST. The churros do not come with chocolate, you have to order it separately. Perfectly paired items. The chocolate is not over sweet and the churros were fried to perfection, they make an excellent Americano as well.
Visiting Barcelona for 3 days and we really wanted to try churros and chocolate. We popped in and got a seat right away, ordered a bikini sandwich, chocolate and churros. The food came super quick and it was all so delicious. The chocolate was hot and thick and tasted amazing filled with churros! Definitely recommend this spot for a quick bite!
People said it's not as good as before but since I had nothing to compare it to, I thought the desserts/snacks were wondering. Churros and chocolate were freshly made and hot. Catalana creme was really tasty. Service was good. It is small inside so seating can be limited depending on the time you go. Prices were cheap.
Great place for a snack on the way home. The space is deceptively large from the doors, as all the action is in the front by the bar but there is seating all the way to the back. Grab a seat and a server dressed in white will bring a menu. Deciding what to get is probably the delay as the moment you place your order, it will appear in 2 minutes because they work so quickly. We got an order of churros, melindros and a swiss chocoate with whipped cream. You get around 5 churros to dunk through the ball of whipped cream to get to the chocolate underneath. The melindros are like less-sweet lady fingers that almost melt when dipped. Both are excellent accompaniment to the chocolate. Will try the ensaimada next time as that seemed popular also.
Friend of mine highly recommended this place. This place open at nine and we came here around 9:10am, but they are already fully booked. We saw they had two groups of tourists inside. We only waited a little over fifteen minutes. We tried their popular churros and chocolate, lady fingers, croissant and two coffee (I think.) Surprisingly, they don't make their churros in here. We saw the guy brought five big brown bags of churros and they poured it in front of us while we are waiting in line. Lol!!! Overall, the churros is kinda hard and oily, the chocolate is not smooth and tastes like they added water in there. I will highly recommend to go to Cerveseria Catalana to try their fresh churros and chocolate. :)
Churros were delicious! The xocolat was not too sweet. I got the swiss xocolat that comes with a very generous serving of whipped cream on top. The service was so incredibly fast. What amazed us was that the street itself was quiet but inside this shop only it was so packed! That was our sign that it was a good local spot!
Yes, their goodies are good, but I recommend dining in vs take-away. This cafe is cute and I think it's best to enjoy the vibe inside, not just for social media pics, but to enjoy little gems like this in the heart of Barcelona. Or, fine, just get something to-go and it'll still be awesome. Don't wear white!
Excellent churros and chocolate with an insanely huge dollop of cream! Lots of tourists but with good reason. Freshly made churros with a light crunch that you can dip in a thick cup of cocoa. Spent around 10wauros for 2 cups of hot cocoa, one with a big topping of whipped cream and 2 servings of fresh-made churros. Must say, I loved their churros and hot chocolate more than the St Ginés in Madrid

My tour guide took my husband and me to Granja La Pallaresa. The exterior of the building said that the business was established in 1947. I ordered churros with chocolate and a drink. The total price was 8.55 euros. My tour guide asked the employee if I was allowed to sit in the tables and chairs in the dining room. I felt surprised that he asked. I had assumed that I as a paying customer would automatically be allowed to sit inside and eat. I rate the churros as 4 stars and the dark chocolate dip as 4 stars. These churros might be more authentic to Spain, but my husband and I personally prefer the churros in the U.S. read more
We're only here for a few days, so I knew I had to find churros and chocolate for dessert as Barcelona is known for churros. A waitress from a spot we were eating at, suggested La Pallaresa! It was within walking distance, so we took a stroll through narrow, historic alleyways to find it. Once we stepped into this cute dessert shop, gentlemen wearing white, button-down shirts with bow ties, served us. I thought it was quite fancy! It gave a 50's drive in/soda fountain vibe. Luckily, we got here midday and avoided the crowds. We heard this shop can be busy at certain times of the day. We took a seat and ordered a plate of churros and small cup of chocolate for dipping. It only took a few minutes to get this yummy treat! The chocolate was not too sweet, but not too rich either. It had a runny, pudding like texture perfect for dipping. The churros were light, crispy, not at all sugary, yet chewy in the center! And I thought a plate of churros was a lot, but before I knew it, it was gone!! €6 for an ultimate, satisfying treat. Never had churros in the states like these. Only in Barcelona! Highly recommend this spot for churros and chocolate! 5/5 read more
The hot chocolate was worth the hype! It was such a perfect dessert after dinner. The place was jam packed at night. The service was still pretty quick. After we got our food, the place actually cleared out pretty quickly and wasn't too loud. read more

Great place for a morning snack - churros! Order a plate with chocolate. Top your chocilate with whipped cream to make it a real "xocolata suissa" treat! This place is really cozy and churros comes in in notime. I highly recommend it as probably the best place to get churros in Barcelona. It tastes like a real spanish churros. Not too sweet, neither too salty. Goes perfectly with hot chocolate. The standard plate is 5 churros sticks, but I am sure you would like to order some more! read more
La Pallaresa is located in the Gothic district and offers churros, Catalan creme (creme brulee), teas, coffees. They have plenty of seating inside and are able to handle large groups. Ordering is done at one's table and English menus are available. Churros (1.85 euros) / Spanish Chocolate (2.85 euros) - 5 churros are included in each order and are about the size of one's hand. They are crispy and light and taste great, although I had better in Madrid and Granada. One has to buy the chocolate dipping sauce separately and it's extremely rich, thick, a little bitter, and not sweet at all. One order is good for 2 orders of churros, or you could do what I did and drink the rest of it. Catalan Creme (creme brulee) (4.10 euros) - I enjoyed the taste of the custard and it's got the traditional hardened sugar top layer. The consistency was a little loose as compared to more traditional creme brulees. Overall I enjoyed the desserts here and it's a great place to go to satisfy one's sweet tooth. Pricing is reasonable and it's a great place to go and hang out with friends or family after a meal. read more

Almost missed out on Churros on this Spain/Portugal Road Trip. Feedback on this place was very good and it's just a few steps away from the Mercat de la Boqueria. Headed in to get a load of fresh Churros with hot chocolate. And it was a nice load of churros for little money. Hot chocolate costs - of course - a bit extra. The Churros were really crispy, hot and yet so soft and tender inside. The rich, hot chocolate a perfect match for this sweet delight. There are countless places selling Churros, many of them cheaply made. But not this one. This place offers the real deal. Good stuff! read more

The best churros on earth!! I have never wanted to eat 10 churros in one sitting in my life until I came to La Pallaresa. The churros are extremely fresh, served warm and you can order a Swiss chocolate (whip cream with melted chocolate) to dip the churro in. There was a line, 50 people deep when we got here since they had just opened. But we were seated within 15 minutes. Super fast service and really good pricing on the churros. Cheap, delicious and fast. What more can you ask for I will miss this place so much that I'm considering learning how to make my own churros to get my fix. read more

Great place to enjoy a quick delicious hot spanish chocolate and churros. The Churros were really crispy, hot and yet so soft and tender inside. The hot chocolate wasn't as rich & sweet as how I expected but by adding the whipped cream and some sugar made a perfect match for this sweet delight. read more

I came here one evening with recommendations to get chocolate con churros, a specialty in Spain! I looked up the best places to get this dessert and this restaurants was praised for the best in town. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The menu is vast but I knew what I wanted. The chocolate is not too sweet and is warm and thick the churros were perfectly crispy and lightly sugared. Dipping the churros in chocolate = pure heaven. I fell in love the moment I bit into it. The chocolate was so easy to eat since it wasn't disgustingly sweet like chocolate in the US. I'm sad to leave Barcelona because of places like this. Do not pass up this place! It is a MUST. read more
The churros here were okay. They were not anything to write home about. Unfortunately this was the only place I tried in Barcelona, but Im sure you can find a better place. The dough was not really flavorful and the churros were coated with some sugar. The chocolate is not sweet, so it's a great combo for someone who does not want sweetness. But generally speaking these churros cafes don't have sweet chocolate. You can find a place with better churro dough. The café con leche was very disappointing. It seems like a tourist trap kind of place. read more

What a popular churro spot that is perfect for tourists. They have a large dining area so you'll see groups of travelers from across the globe seated at each table. The churros themselves were good. Very light and airy with a nice crunch as well. They weren't overly sweet like they do it in the U.S. but I think that's because they want you to dip in in their fresh whipped cream. The whipped cream is worth an order as they give you a generous scoop of this cloud-like cream. Pair all of that with a glass of milk or hot chocolate and you're golden. We didn't realize they were closing soon when we came in for some churros con chocolate. We didn't feel rushed while we were ordering...and that's where the positive ends. I was surprised that our order arrived less than 5 minutes after we placed it. Lo and behold, the churros nor the chocolate wasn't hot. It's like the churros was sitting there a long time. It tasted nowhere as good as the ones we had in Madrid or Seville. The sugar didn't help a bit. It was pretty disappointing. I think they should take more pride in their product and not serve it if it's not anything but the best. Our total bill was just under 6 euros: Chocolata Espanyola (2.70), churros (1.60), and cafe (1.35). As much as I wanted to eat churros again on our succeeding nights in Barcelona, I just couldn't bring myself to eat here again. read more

Quick and attentive service , very open to foreigners. The staff knows its popularity, expects tourists, and is very courteous to ensure they get what you're looking for. I wanted to try the churros con chocolate (churros with the famous Spanish chocolate!) I felt welcomed and was pleased and satisfied with my snack, the service, space, and prices! I only wish I knew it is normal to sip the chocolate as well. I only used it to dip the churros and consumed only half of the potent thick chocolate delight. It was rather rich and I did finish all the churros and left very happy regardless read more

Items Selected: Hot Chocolate Churros Ensaimada Farcida Crema Catalana Like many of Barcelona's historic eateries La Pallaresa is tucked away in the Gothic Quarter, and although the space originally opened as a Dairy it has undergone many changes since 1940 to become the destination it is today, everything about the snack shop opening at 9am Monday through Saturday proving better than the rest of the city's "Granjas" in terms of food, service and setting. Located on Calle Petritxol, an interesting little side street accessible by only foot or bike, it was shortly after the small Restaurant opened its doors on Friday that two out-of-town guests entered in search of a few more sweets before making their way to Montserrat, the bartender and two servers each offering a welcome (in direct contrast to Granja Dulcinea the day prior) and immediately providing a menu printed in English before returning less than five minutes later to answer questions and jot down the order. Offering some sixty items from a list containing both Food and Beverage, everything from Hot Chocolate or Coffee to Ham Sandwiches and housemade Pastries included, it was with little indecision that an order of Hot Churros and Chocolate were requested in addition to the morning's second Crema Catalana and an Ensaimada Farcida that was warm and sliced into strips with a texture far lighter than any seen previously in Barcelona. Not yet sporting a queue, something apparently not uncommon closer to lunch and the later evening, it was perhaps after ten minutes wait while nibbling on the flaky Pastry that the three made-to-order items were delivered, the Crema Catalana unfortunately only torched at its center and thus lacking a bit in texture while the Churros were clean in flavor and crisp without any residual oil, light and tasty on their own but all the better when dipped into Chocolate so thick that it could have stood the Donuts up straight despite remaining just fluid enough to be sipped. read more

This was our first time having churros in Barcelona and it was amazing!!! They call it "chocolate caliente"- hot chocolate. The churros were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We loved the chocolate so much because it was very thick (compared to some other churro places) so you can use it to coat the churros or even eat it with a spoon. My girlfriend and I shared one portion and it was enough for us but there were five elderly women next to us and they each devoured a portion of their own. This is a must try for Churros in the gothic quarter of Barcelona! read more

OMG!!!!! I dont even know where to start. THE CHURROS ARE SPECTACULAR.. This place is one of the oldest churro places in Barcelona. It was on my to do list while in Barcelona. The chocolate was fantastic. read more
The crema catalana was the bomb. It's a thicker, less eggy, more cinnamon-y version of creme brûlée. Were were asked if we wanted some cream on top of our cream, a question which should always have a resounding "yes!" answer. Their whipped cream was homemade and heavenly. Of course we had to also order the chocolate and churros. I was overwhelmed with all of the chocolate options and asked them to bring out the most popular one, which was their Spanish chocolate. Ordering this rich dipping chocolate (okay, it ended up being an eat-all-of-it-ravenously-chocolate) is a must. It was very cool to have such authentic Spanish desserts. read more
Best place in Barcelona to go for your churros, hot chocolate and hot Spanish men needs! I've been wanting to try traditional Spanish hot chocolate and churros for years because my middle school Spanish teacher Mr. Cepeda used to tell us stories about him growing up in Barcelona and his favorite memory were the churros and chocolate! The Spanish hot chocolate is made by melting chocolate bars or morsels and adding milk. It is very thick and you're supposed to dip the churros into them. It actually did not taste as I had expected it to. The chocolate was a little bitter even after adding sugar, and the churros were not as sweet as I'm used to. I guess living in America my whole life got me used to everything in excess, especially sugar! It was a good experience to check off my bucket list! It's awesome to find out what churros are supposed to actually taste like instead of the cheap copy cat versions were used to here in America (aka Costco and Taco Bell version). Nothing comes close to authentic churros! Seriously though.... Those Waiters... WOW! Looks like Michelangelo carved them out of stone! What a looker! read more

This was the best churros and chocolat that I've had in all of Barcelona! Thick dark chocolat with homemade whipped cream and absolutely delicious churros sprinkled with sugar. They give 4 churros about hand-length and the chocolat is so thick you can probably share both with two people. They will top the chocolat with really creamy whipped cream if you want or you can get a plate of whipped cream on the side. There may be a small line outside but, trust me, it's worth the wait! There are tables for you to sit inside so you don't have to take your order to go. The cafe itself is much larger than the storefront makes it seem. Waiters are friendly and food is super YUM! read more

Our visit to La Pallaresa, reminded us of Cafe du Monde in New Orleans *Very* popular spot to get your churros con chocolat & that was our mission The churros were a bit thick & not light & airy, like we found at other eateries but they were still a nice foray into the world of churros con chocolat There was a chef from the back room, who was bringing out bowl after bowl of freshly fried churros & the crowds were eating them as quickly as they could be delivered We also indulged in some cappuccinos & it was very cute that after we placed our order, the guy's eyes got big & he was like wow, that's a lot. ( and it was ) Coffees were just a bit bitter but it complimented the sweet churros But we had no problem finishing everything off - clean plate club here! Our experience was A-OK!! read more
