I was out for a gothic tour, and the tour guide recommended this place for their hot chocolate and churros, so I decided to try it out. Churros tasted really good; and, that was the best hot chocolate I have ever had! It was very creamy, and the whipped cream made it even more creamier! I was very impressed by this. Since this place was very good, I decided to come back a second time. I got the same thing as before. I wasn't very impressed by the service the second time. One of the staff members seemed super grumpy. We were trying to look at what they offer (ex. pastries), since they have no hand-held menus, but the one of the worker's insisted that we sat down and ordered at the table. We ordered at the desk last time, and the workers were completely fine with that! It was just that worker though, every other workers have been nice and friendly! The atmosphere around the store appears old. It's a little crowded, and the tables are a little rugged, but it gives you the gothic feeling. I think this is great since it is in the gothic part of town. Summary: Food- 5 stars Service - 3 stars Ambiance - 4 stars

A friend recommended this place, so I knew that I had to try. I had their churros, which were incredibly good. I dipped the churros in chocolate with each bite. My first time trying this snack, and it definitely won't be my last! I also tried the Petritxol, since the place is named after it! I didn't know what it was when I ordered. I wasn't sure how to eat it, or cut it, but eventually it broke into pieces. I didn't love it, but it was fun to try! The servers were incredibly nice and gave great service. I look forward to bringing more friends here in the future!

Churros and chocolate and crema catalana-both amazing!

Churros with chocolate! We tried it here and it was amazing. They give you these wonderful thick cups of chocolate, and you dip the churros into it and it's delicious. We also got the crema catalana, which is basically creme brulee and also extremely delicious. We got a chocolate dipped croissant which wasn't crispy at all, disappointingly. Also a chocolate and almond covered cylinder filled with some sort of white chocolate, which was also not my favorite. Wonderful place for churros and chocolate and crema catalana, but I'd skip everything else here.

We stumbled upon this churro cafe while walking through the gothic quarter. I have to say it wasn't my favorite but they did a decent job on the churros we ordered. I got a plate of churros, chocolate sauce and an espresso to keep me alive after eating all of it! The churros weren't sweet at all and the chocolate was super rich.

    Hot chocolate and churros!

This was our first stop in Barcelona, and holy moly was it setting the bar high for the rest of the trip. After finding it on Yelp we made our way through some winding back streets and arrived at this quaint little coffee/dessert shop. What was on the menu? Hot chocolate and churros of course. Now you can probably tell from my photo that the hot chocolate was more like a hot chocolate pudding. That doesn't sound appetizing as a type it, but I pinky promise it is. It came in a little tea cup and had a thick film on top. You had to pop it with your spoon and then the gooey chocolate pours out. This is like eggs Benedict level food porn - except it's warm chocolate (which in my opinion is sexier). With my mind blown I relied on my instincts and what I did next was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Right up there with asking my now wife to be my girlfriend and applying for an internship with Yelp.... this was a life changing moment in my life. I dipped the churros in the hot chocolate. The creamy chocolate coated the churro like a thick layer of paint. Now, I have no idea if this is how the locals eat this...but if they don't they should. Super nice woman at the counter walked us through ordering and explained some of the chocolate truffles that my wife ended up getting (and I snagged a bite of). The place is small with only a couple of tables. It seems most people take their treats to go. There's a ton of baked goods that are easy to eat on the go.

    This was amazing!

Tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of Barcelona is Xocoa, a cute little chocolate/bakery on a small side street off of La Rambla. I actually heard about this place because it was on the "hidden street of chocolate," and well, I really, really like chocolate, so obviously I had to check it out. I initially walked by the place but came back because my sister and I wanted to try churros y chocolate for the first time. So we grabbed a little table and ordered the churros and chocolate! The churros were delicious and topped with sugar. Sometimes the churros don't come with sugar on top, which can either be a great thing or a bad thing depending on how quickly you want to go into a diabetic coma. I was onboard with this plan so I didn't mind the extra sugar at all. The churros were cooked perfectly and the sugar complemented them very well. The chocolate here is a little different than the other chocolate I had in Spain, mostly because it was milk chocolate and not as dark as the kind I had at San Gines. It was still pretty good, however -- perfectly thick and wonderful to dip the churros in. The two women working at the shop were both very friendly. The bakery was full of amazing looking treats including these massive chocolate/rice balls. I don't know what they were actually called but they looked intense and amazing. I would have gotten one, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to finish it. I'm being 1000% serious when I say they might have been as large as my head. Great experience, cute place. Would recommend to all who want to try some baked goods in Barca and don't want to be surrounded by crowds and crowds of people.

    Packs to go.

Are you a chocolate lover? Do you like dipping churros in sweet, hot chocolate? Do you like pastry? Then, if you are visiting Barcelona this is a "mandatory stop", look no further. A few weeks ago we had the sweetest evening thanks to the quality of the food and the fantastic customer service! Will recommend with my eyes closed and surely be back soon.

    Churros + chocolate! 12 Euros.

Very disappointed in this place. I saw many reviews on yelp on how good these churros were, but the ones I got were not hot and probably not made fresh. The chocolate that we dipped the churros in was not sweet at all and neither was the whipped cream on the side. I'm not sure if this is how the churros are always served here, but I would not recommend this place. I think there are other places in Barcelona to get better churros. Service was also not very good. I had waited 15 minutes for someone to take our order, but no one came. So I eventually went up to ask them to take my order.

I'm not really a chocolate fan, but I picked up some good stuff for my friends. I did enjoy a slice of their red velvet cheesecake. It was delicious. I didn't dine in, but I saw a few customers come in and were offered seating.

Xocoa is one of the many bakeries in Barcelona. They have different desserts and chocolates. Also coffee and hot chocolate. They are also known for their churros. This shop is located in a small, sketchy alley. It was kind of hard to locate but I eventually found it. For 5 euros you get hot chocolate and 5 churros. They were good but not as good as the hole in the wall mom and pop churro only shops.

Stopped in here after a long walk and exhaustive search for churros. We wanted to go to another churro place highly regarded on Yelp, churreria laietana, but it was closed when we got there, so we went down the list. We tried a piece of cake which was like Black Forest cake. It was ok. We also tried these large Carmel ball pastry which was like a balled up pie crust with a caramel icing. It was very difficult to break apart and really wasn't anything special. Lastly we had churros. The reason we came! They too were not very great. A bit cold. And didn't appear to be freshly made. We ended up trying churros at Xurreria in the El Born area as part of a food tour. They were excellent. The place doesn't look like much but you will be happier getting your churros from there.

Being new to espresso making at home I fully understand the 1:2 ratio in a specific amount of time for making espresso. I took their advice and went with another bean selection. My iced cafe latte was for take away and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors. One thing to note for any Americans that expect sweetener, there is none here. As for the iced latte, it was definitely less better and slightly more sweet and creamy due to the milk. You still tasted a bit of the flavor of the coffee.

Caravelle is quaint and modern, and the service is definitely on the more lax side. Note: smaller parties may be seated at the communal table, and this place stays busy! Be prepared for a bit of a wait. I started with a café con leche, and although I'm not usually a sweets-for-breakfast kinda person, the croffle looked too enticing online to pass up. Being a huge egg aficionado, I also ordered a side of eggs à la carte. My coffee arrived quickly, but after waiting 30 minutes, I noticed that guests who had arrived after me were already enjoying their meals... When I checked in with the waiter, it turned out my order hadn't gone through at all. I had to reorder, and while waiting, I asked for another café con leche since I was long overdue for a refill. Unfortunately, that second coffee never came--but on the bright side, my meal eventually did. The croffle was freaking divine. Crispy/flakey on the outside, and soft inside. The cream was sweet, but not overpowering, and the tart of the berries balanced out the meal. As I was getting ready to check out, the waiter asked if I had ever received my second café con leche. Embarrassed for them, I admitted that I hadn't... Realizing they'd made ANOTHER mistake, he apologized profusely and quickly asked the barista to make me one to go. To compensate for my time and patience, he generously comped my entire meal, leaving me to pay only for the initial coffee (2.50 euros). Despite the service hiccups, the food was incredible--truly one of my favorite breakfasts in Spain.
