I can't say enough about Granite Lock (Quincy). When I called this morning, I had them confirm that their business was actually IN Quincy. Before we made the appointment, I was given their rates and they seem fair. I got an appointment for this morning. I had a problem that when I shut the door behind me, it didn't always engage so although the door looked closed, it was not closed nor was it locked. I went to Home Depot and then to Lowes to try and duplicate a regular house key and both places just couldn't do it. Each trip ended with frustration when I realized that the new key didn't fit the door lock. Finally, I found this place on Yelp which I should've done in the first place and they were able to get the job done. I was in and out of there in about 5 minutes. Wow is all I can say. What an outstanding company. My daughter bought a condo recently and was missing several keys to various locks. We wanted to help her get all of her locks on one key and access to all locks. Called Granite and Chris showed up, right on time. Within one hour he had everything re-keyed, copies made, all locks treated with spray, and even door jams enlarged for easier closing etc. Even dust pan to clean up a very small mess. I had a locksmith I really liked and when I called them they said they were no longer doing residential work. They recommended Granite Lock. My door lock was getting stuck so I assumed I should replace the whole lock. Zack is very professional and is an excellent representative for Granite Lock. He called me to set up a convenient time - I asked him if he could bring a medium priced dead bolt lock that would last. He said he would be prepared but that perhaps I do not need a whole lock replacement. Zack arrived right on time and after examining the lock he recommended that it didn't need to be replaced, but rather re- keyed. This service was a lot less expensive - VERY fair pricing and Zack assured me it will be a long term fix. I am very happy with their service and price and Zack was very helpful. Update: We hired Granite Lock again to replace a bathroom privacy lock and requested Zack. True to our previous great experience with him he communicated with us about his arrival time, completed the job efficiently and precisely and even noted the hinges on the door were loose and made the door push against the frame. One of the only places on the South Shore where you can get blades cut for keyport slides. They also had some options there for the slide. It was fairly busy on a mid-Saturday morning, so I had the chance to wait around the shop for a few minutes. I think they have every key and key accessory known to man. Lots of tools, keychains, and other accessories. Also, some interesting deadbolt locks that were pretty technologically advanced. The locksmith was friendly and worked very fast. I moved and called to have my locks changed. They were very nice on the phone and scheduled me promptly for the next day. There were 3 different locks with different keys and the locksmith simplified them to all use the same key which is much easier.
