Finally it was time to do something. I was sitting at a car dealership waiting for my car to be serviced and I had Yelp find me a locksmith. Within a just a few minutes I had responses from two locksmiths. Star Locksmiths, Bulent, was reasonably priced and at my home the next morning. The install was quick and he rekeyed the lock to match our existing keys. He even adjusted the handle for the regular lock (below) so the cold air wouldn't come through between the door and the door frame. We were really pleased and will use Star Locksmiths again. I needed to repair some locks on my apartment, and had no idea where to start. My first call went…read moreout to Broadway Lock where I spoke to Patty. She was kind, knowledgeable, and spoke plainly about my options for changing or updating my locks. However their store is not convenient for me, and I wanted to actually be able to see the physical locks before committing to them. So I called around to a few other places, and got similar information. I even stopped by a few lock smiths to get some hands on experience, and learn to tell the difference between a mortice, dead bolt or knob lock. It is all really quite interesting. You never think much about locks until you have to until they fail one day. Then you become very interested in what they do, how they are made, and what your options are. Broadway Lock was the most responsive, and helpful though, so I decided to give them a shot. I scheduled the job, and waited. Rob showed up right on time to change my locks. All of my neighbors knew him, because every one has used Broadway Lock at some point. I pointed him to the doors I needed to rekey, and he went about his business. He was so fast and efficient that it feels like he barely started when he was already telling me that he was done. With brand new keys in hand, I tried out the locks, and they worked perfectly. Broadway Lock also makes it extremely easy to pay by credit card, so I gave him my card information, and that was that. Dealing with any service professional can be tough. They may not show up on time. They may not take your calls. They may do a bad job, and it is impossible to tell in advance whether you will have any of these problems. I can say confidently that Broadway Lock had none of those problems. They do what they do, they do it extremely well, on time, and at a reasonably price. What more can you ask for? In the wild west of hiring the skilled trades, Broadway Lock is a name you can trust.
